Joshua 20
1 Then the LORD said to Joshua,
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଯିହୋଶୂୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣକୁ କୁହ;
2 “Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses,
‘ଆମ୍ଭେ ମୋଶା ହାତରେ ଯେଉଁସବୁ ଆଶ୍ରୟ ନଗର ବିଷୟ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଅଛୁ, ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ନିରୂପଣ କର।
3 so that anyone who kills another unintentionally or accidentally may flee there. These will be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
ତହିଁରେ ଯେଉଁ ନରହତ୍ୟାକାରୀ ଭ୍ରାନ୍ତିରେ ଓ ଅଜ୍ଞାତସାରରେ କାହାକୁ ବଧ କରେ, ସେ ସେଠାକୁ ପଳାଇ ଯାଇ ପାରିବ; ପୁଣି ସେହି ସବୁ ନଗର ରକ୍ତର ପ୍ରତିହନ୍ତାଠାରୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଆଶ୍ରୟ ନଗର ହେବ।
4 When someone flees to one of these cities, stands at the entrance of the city gate, and states his case before its elders, they are to bring him into the city and give him a place to live among them.
ଆଉ ତହିଁ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କୌଣସି ନଗରକୁ ପଳାୟନକାରୀ ଲୋକ ନଗର ଦ୍ୱାରର ପ୍ରବେଶ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ନଗରର ପ୍ରାଚୀନମାନଙ୍କ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚରରେ ଆପଣାର କଥା କହିବ, ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ନଗର ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ତାହାକୁ ଆଣି ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବାସ କରିବାକୁ ସ୍ଥାନ ଦେବେ।
5 Now if the avenger of blood pursues him, they must not surrender the manslayer into his hand, because that man killed his neighbor accidentally without prior malice.
ପୁଣି ରକ୍ତର ପ୍ରତିହନ୍ତା ତାହା ପଛେ ପଛେ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ, ସେମାନେ ନରହତ୍ୟାକାରୀକୁ ତାହା ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ସେ ଅଜ୍ଞାତସାରରେ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସୀକୁ ବଧ କରିଅଛି ଓ ସେ ପୂର୍ବରେ ତାହାକୁ ହିଂସା କରି ନ ଥିଲା।
6 He is to stay in that city until he stands trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest serving at that time. Then the manslayer may return to his own home in the city from which he fled.”
ଏହି ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେ ବିଚାରାର୍ଥେ ମଣ୍ଡଳୀ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଠିଆ ହେବା ଯାଏ, ପୁଣି ସେହି ସମୟର ମହାଯାଜକର ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁ ହେବା ଯାଏ ସେ ସେହି ନଗରରେ ବାସ କରିବ; ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ସେହି ନରହତ୍ୟାକାରୀ ଯେଉଁ ନଗରରୁ ପଳାୟନ କରିଥିଲା, ଆପଣା ନିଜର ସେହି ନଗରକୁ ଓ ଆପଣା ନିଜ ଗୃହକୁ ଫେରି ଆସିବ।’”
7 So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.
ଏଣୁ ସେମାନେ ନପ୍ତାଲିର ପର୍ବତମୟ ଦେଶସ୍ଥ ଗାଲିଲୀରେ କେଦଶ ଓ ଇଫ୍ରୟିମ-ପର୍ବତମୟ ଦେଶରେ ଶିଖିମ ଓ ଯିହୁଦାର ପର୍ବତମୟ ଦେଶରେ କିରୀୟଥ୍-ଅର୍ବ (ଏହାକୁ ହିବ୍ରୋଣ କହନ୍ତି) ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠା କଲେ।
8 And beyond the Jordan, east of Jericho, they designated Bezer on the wilderness plateau from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan from the tribe of Manasseh.
ପୁଣି ଯିରୀହୋ ନିକଟସ୍ଥ ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ-ପୂର୍ବପାରିରେ ରୁବେନ୍ ବଂଶର ସମଭୂମି ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ବେତ୍ସର ଓ ଗାଦ୍ ବଂଶର ଗିଲୀୟଦରେ ରାମୋତ୍ ଓ ମନଃଶି ବଂଶର ବାଶନରେ ଗୋଲନ୍ ନିରୂପଣ କଲେ।
9 These are the cities appointed for all the Israelites and foreigners among them, so that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood prior to standing trial before the assembly.
କେହି ଭ୍ରାନ୍ତିରେ ନରହତ୍ୟା କଲେ, ମଣ୍ଡଳୀ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଠିଆ ହେବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ପଳାଇ ଯେପରି ରକ୍ତର ପ୍ରତିହନ୍ତାର ହସ୍ତରେ ନ ମରେ, ଏନିମନ୍ତେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସନ୍ତାନ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରବାସକାରୀ ବିଦେଶୀ ଲୋକ ପାଇଁ ଏସବୁ ନଗର ନିରୂପିତ ହେଲା।
