John 3
1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews.
Es war aber ein Mann von den Pharisäern mit Namen Nikodemus, ein Oberer der Juden.
2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs You are doing if God were not with him.”
Dieser kam zu ihm nachts und sagte zu ihm: Rabbi, wir wissen, dass du als Lehrer von Gott gekommen bist. Denn niemand kann diese Zeichen tun, die du tust, es sei denn Gott mit ihm.
3 Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
Antwortete Jesus und sagte zu ihm: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir, wenn einer nicht von oben her geboren wird, so kann er das Reich Gottes nicht sehen.
4 “How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time to be born?”
Sagt zu ihm Nikodemus: Wie kann ein Mensch geboren werden, wenn er ein Greis ist? Kann er denn in den Leib seiner Mutter zum zweitenmal eingehen und geboren werden?
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
Antwortete Jesus: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir, wenn einer nicht geboren wird aus Wasser und Geist, so kann er nicht in das Reich der Himmel eingehen.
6 Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.
Was aus dem Fleische geboren ist, ist Fleisch, und was aus dem Geiste geboren ist, ist Geist.
7 Do not be amazed that I said, ‘You must be born again.’
Wundere dich nicht, dass ich dir gesagt habe, ihr müßt von oben her geboren werden.
8 The wind blows where it wishes. You hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Der Wind weht wo er will, und du hörst sein Sausen, aber du weißt nicht, woher er kommt und wohin er geht; so ist es mit jedem, der da aus dem Geiste geboren ist.
9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
Antwortete Nikodemus und sagte zu ihm: Wie kann dies geschehen?
10 “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and you do not understand these things?
Antwortete Jesus und sprach zu ihm: Du bist der Lehrer Israels und verstehst das nicht?
11 Truly, truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, and yet you people do not accept our testimony.
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir: Wir reden was wir wissen, und bezeugen was wir gesehen haben, und ihr nehmt unser Zeugnis nicht an.
12 If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
Wenn ich euch von den irdischen Dingen sagte und ihr glaubtet nicht, wie werdet ihr glauben, wenn ich euch von den himmlischen sage?
13 No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven—the Son of Man.
Und es ist niemand in den Himmel aufgestiegen, außer der vom Himmel herabgekommen ist, der Sohn des Menschen, der im Himmel ist.
14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
Und gleich wie Moses die Schlange in der Wüste erhöht hat, so muß der Sohn des Menschen erhöht werden,
damit jeder, der an ihn glaubt, ewiges Leben habe. (aiōnios g166)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
Denn also hat Gott die Welt geliebt, dass er seinen einzigen Sohn gab, damit jeder, der an ihn glaubt, nicht verloren gehe, sondern ewiges Leben habe. (aiōnios g166)
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
Denn Gott hat den Sohn nicht in die Welt gesandt, damit er die Welt richte, sondern damit die Welt durch ihn gerettet werde.
18 Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Der an ihn glaubt, wird nicht gerichtet: der nicht glaubt, ist schon gerichtet, weil er nicht zu dem Glauben gekommen ist an den Namen des einzigen Sohnes Gottes.
19 And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil.
Dies aber ist das Gericht, dass das Licht in die Welt gekommen ist, und die Menschen haben die Finsternis mehr geliebt als das Licht; denn ihre Werke waren böse.
20 Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
Denn jeder, der Schlechtes tut, haßt das Licht und kommt nicht zum Licht, damit nicht seine Werke überwiesen werden.
21 But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”
Wer aber die Wahrheit tut, kommt zum Licht, damit seine Werke offenbar werden, weil sie in Gott gewirkt sind.
22 After this, Jesus and His disciples went into the Judean countryside, where He spent some time with them and baptized.
Nach diesem kam Jesus und seine Jünger in das judäische Land und er hielt sich dort mit ihnen auf und taufte.
23 Now John was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because the water was plentiful there, and people kept coming to be baptized.
Es war aber auch Johannes taufend in Aenon nahe bei Salem, weil dort reichlich Wasser war, und sie kamen herbei und ließen sich taufen
24 (For John had not yet been thrown into prison.)
(denn Johannes war noch nicht ins Gefängnis geworfen).
25 Then a dispute arose between John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the issue of ceremonial washing.
Daher entstand ein Streit seitens der Jünger Johannes' mit einem Juden über die Reinigungsfrage.
26 So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Look, Rabbi, the One who was with you beyond the Jordan, the One you testified about—He is baptizing, and everyone is going to Him.”
Und sie kamen zu Johannes und sagten zu ihm: Rabbi, der bei dir war jenseits des Jordan, für den du gezeugt hast, siehe der tauft und alles läuft zu ihm.
27 John replied, “A man can receive only what is given him from heaven.
Antwortete Johannes und sprach: Ein Mensch kann nichts nehmen, es sei denn ihm gegeben vom Himmel her.
28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but am sent ahead of Him.’
Ihr selbst bezeugt mir, dass ich sagte, ich bin nicht der Christus, sondern Abgesandter vor ihm her bin ich.
29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom stands and listens for him, and is overjoyed to hear the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.
Der die Braut hat, ist Bräutigam, der Freund aber des Bräutigams, der da steht und ihm zuhört, freut sich hoch über die Stimme des Bräutigams. Diese meine Freude nun ist erfüllt.
30 He must increase; I must decrease.
Jener muß wachsen, ich aber abnehmen.
31 The One who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks as one from the earth. The One who comes from heaven is above all.
Der von oben her kommt, ist über allen; der von der Erde ist, ist von der Erde und spricht aus der Erde heraus. Der vom Himmel kommt,
32 He testifies to what He has seen and heard, yet no one accepts His testimony.
bezeugt, was er gesehen hat und hörte, und niemand nimmt sein Zeugnis an.
33 Whoever accepts His testimony has certified that God is truthful.
Der sein Zeugnis annahm, hat besiegelt, dass Gott wahrhaftig ist.
34 For the One whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.
Denn wen Gott abgesandt hat, der spricht die Worte Gottes; denn er verleiht den Geist nicht abgemessen.
35 The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in His hands.
Der Vater liebt den Sohn und hat alles in seine Hand gegeben.
