< John 10 >

1 “Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever does not enter the sheepfold by the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber.
ⲁ̅ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲣⲟ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲟϩⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲧⲃ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲕⲉⲥⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥϫⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲡⲉ
2 But the one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
ⲃ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲣⲟ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲱⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen for his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
ⲅ̅ⲡⲁⲓ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲡⲉⲙⲛⲟⲩⲧ ⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲧⲉϥ ⲥⲙⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲩⲣⲁⲛ ⲛϥⲛⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
ⲇ̅ϩⲟⲧⲁⲛ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ϣⲁϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲁ ⲧⲉⲩϩⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲱϥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲥⲙⲏ
5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will flee from him because they do not recognize his voice.”
ⲉ̅ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲟⲩⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲟⲩϣⲙⲙⲟ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲡⲱⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲥⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲥⲙⲏ ⲛⲛϣⲙⲙⲟ
6 Jesus spoke to them using this illustration, but they did not understand what He was telling them.
ⲋ̅ⲧⲉⲉⲓⲡⲁⲣϩⲟⲓⲙⲓⲁ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲉⲓⲙⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲧϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲩ
7 So He said to them again, “Truly, truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϭⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲱⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ
8 All who came before Me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
ⲏ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓ ϩⲉⲛⲣⲉϥϫⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲉⲛⲥⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ
9 I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture.
ⲑ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲣⲟ ⲉⲣϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧ ϥⲛⲁⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϥϩⲉ ⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.
ⲓ̅ⲡⲣⲉϥϫⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲙⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲓⲙⲏⲧⲓ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉϩⲱϥⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϥϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϥⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲉⲓ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉϫⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛⲁϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲥⲉϫⲓ ⲟⲩϩⲟⲩⲟ
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲱⲥ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲡϣⲱⲥ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ϣⲁϥⲕⲁ ⲧⲉϥⲯⲩⲭⲏ ϩⲁ ⲛⲉϥⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ
12 The hired hand is not the shepherd, and the sheep are not his own. When he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf pounces on them and scatters the flock.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲡϫⲁⲓ ⲃⲉⲕⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩϣⲱⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ϣⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲟⲩⲱⲛϣ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁϥⲕⲁ ⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϥⲡⲱⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲱⲛϣ ⲧⲟⲣⲡⲟⲩ ⲛϥϫⲟⲟⲣⲟⲩ
13 The man runs away because he is a hired servant and is unconcerned for the sheep.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲃⲉⲕⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲣⲟⲟⲩϣ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϩⲁ ⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ
14 I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me,
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲱⲥ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲙⲟⲉⲓ
15 just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲙⲟⲉⲓ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϩⲱ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲱ ⲛⲧⲁⲯⲩⲭⲏ ϩⲁ ⲛⲁⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ
16 I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them in as well, and they will listen to My voice. Then there will be one flock and one shepherd.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲕⲉⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲛϩⲉⲛⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲟϩⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲟⲛ ϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲉⲧⲣⲁⲥⲟⲟⲩϩⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲧⲁⲥⲙⲏ ⲛⲥⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲟϩⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲟⲩϣⲱⲥ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ
17 The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life in order to take it up again.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲱ ⲛⲧⲁⲯⲩⲭⲏ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲓⲉϫⲓⲧⲥ
18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father.”
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲙⲛ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϥⲓ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲧⲕⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲓ ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁⲧ ⲟⲩⲛϯ ⲧⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲉⲕⲁⲁⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲛϯ ⲧⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲉϫⲓⲧⲥ ⲧⲉⲓⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲛⲧⲁⲓϫⲓⲧⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ
19 Again there was division among the Jews because of Jesus’ message.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲥⲭⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲟⲛ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲛⲉⲓϣⲁϫⲉ
20 Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed and insane. Why would you listen to Him?”
ⲕ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲛ ϩⲁϩ ⲇⲉ ϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲙⲟⲛⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲗⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
21 But others replied, “These are not the words of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲟⲩⲁ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ ⲉϥⲟ ⲛⲇⲁⲓⲙⲟⲛⲓⲟⲛ ⲙⲏ ⲟⲩⲛ ϭⲟⲙ ⲛⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓⲙⲟⲛⲓⲟⲛ ⲉⲩⲱⲛ ⲛⲃⲃⲁⲗ ⲛⲃⲃⲗⲗⲉ
22 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter,
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲩⲟⲓϣ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡϫⲓ ⲁⲉⲓⲕ ϩⲛ ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲡⲣⲱ ⲧⲉ
23 and Jesus was walking in the temple courts in Solomon’s Colonnade.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ϩⲁ ⲧⲉⲥⲧⲟⲁ ⲛⲥⲟⲗⲟⲙⲱⲛ
24 So the Jews gathered around Him and demanded, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲕⲱⲧⲉ ϭⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϣⲁ ⲧⲛⲁⲩ ⲕϥⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲁϫⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲛ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ
25 “I already told you,” Jesus replied, “but you did not believe. The works I do in My Father’s name testify on My behalf.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲉⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉϯⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲧⲣ ⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧ
26 But because you are not My sheep, you refuse to believe.
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ ϩⲛ ⲛⲁⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ
27 My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲁⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϣⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲧⲁⲥⲙⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲟⲩⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲱⲉⲓ
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲛⲁϯ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲛⲉⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲛⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲧⲟⲣⲡⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁϭⲓϫ (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
29 My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲓ ϥϩⲓϫⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲛ ϣϭⲟⲙ ⲗⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲟⲣⲡⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧϭⲓϫ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ
30 I and the Father are one.”
ⲗ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ
31 At this, the Jews again picked up stones to stone Him.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲁⲩϥⲓ ⲱⲛⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲛⲟⲩϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
32 But Jesus responded, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone Me?”
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓⲧⲥⲁⲃⲱⲧⲛ ⲉϩⲁϩ ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲁϣ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲓ ⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ
33 “We are not stoning You for any good work,” said the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because You, who are a man, declare Yourself to be God.”
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲛⲁϩⲓ ⲱⲛⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲕ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ϫⲓⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲉⲛⲧⲕ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲕⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲕ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
34 Jesus replied, “Is it not written in your Law: ‘I have said you are gods’?
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲛϥⲥⲏϩ ⲁⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken—
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϣⲁⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲙⲛ ϭⲟⲙ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲃⲱⲗ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
36 then what about the One whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world? How then can you accuse Me of blasphemy for stating that I am the Son of God?
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ⲉⲓⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲧⲃⲃⲟϥ ⲁϥⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩϥ ⲉⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲕϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲅ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
37 If I am not doing the works of My Father, then do not believe Me.
ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛϯⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲡⲣⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ
38 But if I am doing them, even though you do not believe Me, believe the works themselves, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father.”
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ϯⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲙⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲉⲓ ⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯϩⲙ ⲡⲓⲱⲧ
39 At this, they tried again to seize Him, but He escaped their grasp.
ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ⲛⲉⲩϣⲓⲛⲉ ϭⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲥⲁ ϭⲟⲡϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲩϭⲓϫ
40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had first been baptizing, and He stayed there.
ⲙ̅ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲡⲓⲕⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲓⲟⲣⲇⲁⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲉⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲉϥⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϭⲱ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ
41 Many came to Him and said, “Although John never performed a sign, everything he said about this man was true.”
ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ⲁⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲙⲡϥⲣ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲙⲙⲁⲓⲛ ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ϩⲉⲛⲙⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϩⲁϩ ⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ
42 And many in that place believed in Jesus.
