< Job 5 >
1 “Call out if you please, but who will answer? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
“Mee waami, namni deebii siif kennu jiraa? Qulqulloota keessaas ati gara isa kamiitti gorta?
2 For resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.
Nama gowwaa aariitu ajjeesa; raatuus hinaaffaatu galaafata.
3 I have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.
Namni gowwaan hidda isaa gad fageeffatee nan arge; manni isaa garuu yoosuma abaarame.
4 His sons are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.
Ijoolleen isaa nagaa hin qaban; isaan karra duratti burkutaaʼan; namni isaan oolchus hin jiru.
5 The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from the thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.
Namni beelaʼe midhaan isaa qoraattii keessaa iyyuu fuudhee nyaata; inni dheebotes qabeenya isaa hawwa.
6 For distress does not spring from the dust, and trouble does not sprout from the ground.
Rakkinni biyyoo keessaa hin burquutii; dhiphinnis lafa keessaa hin biqilu.
7 Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
Akkuma qaanqeen ibiddaa ol facaʼu namni rakkinaaf dhalata.
8 However, if I were you, I would appeal to God and lay my cause before Him—
“Garuu utuu ana taʼee Waaqa nan barbaaddadha; dhimma koos fuula isaa duratti nan dhiʼeeffadhan ture.
9 the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.
Inni dinqiiwwan qoranii bira gaʼuu hin dandeenye, hojiiwwan dinqisiisoo lakkaaʼamuu hin dandeenye hojjeta.
10 He gives rain to the earth and sends water upon the fields.
Inni bokkaadhaan lafa ni quubsa; lafa qotiisaas bishaan ni obaasa.
11 He sets the lowly on high, so that mourners are lifted to safety.
Warra gad qabaman ol baasa; warra gaddanis iddoo nagaatti ol kaasa.
12 He thwarts the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands find no success.
Akka hojiin harka isaanii hin milkoofneef, inni karoora jalʼootaa ni fashaleessa.
13 He catches the wise in their craftiness, and sweeps away the plans of the cunning.
Inni ogeeyyii haxxummaa isaaniitiin qaba; malli jalʼootaa immoo dafee ni bada.
14 They encounter darkness by day and grope at noon as in the night.
Guyyaan dukkana isaanitti taʼa; guyyaa saafaas akka nama dukkana keessa jiruu qaqqabannaadhaan deemu.
15 He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth and from the clutches of the powerful.
Inni nama rakkataa goraadee afaan isaanii jalaa, harka nama jabaa jalaas ni baasa.
16 So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.
Kanaafuu hiyyeessi abdii qaba; jalʼinnis afaan isaa ni cufata.
17 Blessed indeed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
“Namni Waaqni adabu eebbifamaa dha; kanaafuu ati adabbii Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu hin tuffatin.
18 For He wounds, but He also binds; He strikes, but His hands also heal.
Inni ni madeessa; ni fayyisas; inni ni cabsa; harka isaatiinis deebisee ni fayyisa.
19 He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven.
Balaa jaʼa jalaa si baasa; torba keessattis hin miidhamtu.
20 In famine He will redeem you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
Bara beelaa duʼa jalaa, lola keessattis rukuttaa goraadee jalaa si baasa.
21 You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and will not fear havoc when it comes.
Ati garaffii arrabaa jalaa ni dhokfamta; yommuu badiisni dhufuttis hin sodaattu.
22 You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth.
Badiisaa fi beelatti ni kolfita; bineensota lafaas hin sodaattu.
23 For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
Dhagoota bakkee wajjin kakuu galta; bineensonni bosonaas nagaadhaan si wajjin jiraatu.
24 You will know that your tent is secure, and find nothing amiss when inspecting your home.
Dunkaanni kee nagaan akka jiru ni beekta; qabeenya kee ni toʼatta; wanni tokko illee si jalaa hin badu.
25 You will know that your offspring will be many, your descendants like the grass of the earth.
Ijoolleen kee akka baayʼatan, sanyiiwwan kees akkuma marga lafaa akka taʼan ni beekta.
26 You will come to the grave in full vigor, like a sheaf of grain gathered in season.
Akkuma bissiin midhaanii yeroo isaatti walitti qabamu sana, atis bara dheeraa jiraattee awwaala seenta.
27 Indeed, we have investigated, and it is true! So hear it and know for yourself.”
“Nu waan kana qoranneerra; innis dhugaa dha. Kanaafuu qalbeeffadhu; ofii keetiifis beeki.”
