< Job 5 >
1 “Call out if you please, but who will answer? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
Vaihi kawk noek ah, na kawkhaih lok pathim han kami om tih maw? Naa bang ih kaciim kaminawk khaeah maw nang qoi han?
2 For resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.
Palungphui hmai baktih amngaehhaih mah kamthu to hum moe, uthaih mah kamthu to misong ah ohsak.
3 I have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.
Kamthu ih tangzun loe cak, tiah ka hnuk pongah, a ohhaih ahmuen to ka tangoeng pae roep.
4 His sons are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.
Anih ih caanawk loe misa monghaih tawn o ai, khongkha ah ah atit o naah, bomkung tawn o ai.
5 The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from the thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.
A aah ih cang loe zok amthlam kaminawk mah caak pae o ving; anih ih hmuenmaenawk loe mingcahnawk mah lomh pae o king.
6 For distress does not spring from the dust, and trouble does not sprout from the ground.
Patangkhanghaih loe maiphu thung hoiah angzo ai, raihaih doeh long thung hoiah tacawt ai.
7 Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
Toe van bangah tapraek tahang hmai baktih toengah, kami loe raihaih tongh han ih ni tapen roe.
8 However, if I were you, I would appeal to God and lay my cause before Him—
Toe kai loe Sithaw khaeah tahmenhaih ka hnik moe, ka raihaih to Sithaw khaeah ka tathlang han:
9 the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.
anih loe paroeai kalen hmuen, kroek laek ai hmuen, dawnrai koi hmuennawk to sak;
10 He gives rain to the earth and sends water upon the fields.
Anih mah ni long ah kho angzohsak moe, lawk ah tui to longsak.
11 He sets the lowly on high, so that mourners are lifted to safety.
Poek pahnaem kami to anih mah atoengh tahang moe, palungsae kami to monghaih ahmuen ah atoengh tahang.
12 He thwarts the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands find no success.
Minawk aling thaih kami mah kasae pacaeng ih hmuen akoep han ai ah, anih mah pakaa pae.
13 He catches the wise in their craftiness, and sweeps away the plans of the cunning.
Palungha kaminawk loe angmacae palunghahaih hoiah sak pacaeng ih hmuen pongah amansak moe, poek kangkawn kami amsakhaih to a phraek pae.
14 They encounter darkness by day and grope at noon as in the night.
Nihcae loe khodai ah vinghaih tongh o moe, athun ah khoving baktiah loklam pathoep hoiah a caeh o.
15 He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth and from the clutches of the powerful.
Sithaw mah amtang kaminawk to thacak kami ih pakha hoi anih ih ban thung hoiah pahlong.
16 So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.
To pongah amtang kaminawk loe oephaih tawnh o moe, katoeng ai hmuen mah anih ih pakha to tamuep pae.
17 Blessed indeed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
Khenah, Sithaw mah patoengh ih kami loe tahamhoih; to pongah Thacak koek Sithaw mah thuitaekhaih to patoek hmah.
18 For He wounds, but He also binds; He strikes, but His hands also heal.
Anih mah ahmaa caksak, toe ahmaa to komh pae let; nganbawh kana a paek, toe ngantuisak let.
19 He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven.
Anih mah vai tarukto raihaih thung hoiah na loisak tih; ue, vai sarihto naah doeh kasae na tongh mak ai.
20 In famine He will redeem you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
Anih mah khokhaa naah duekhaih thung hoiah na pahlong tih; misatuk naah doeh sumsen thacakhaih thung hoiah pahlong tih.
21 You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and will not fear havoc when it comes.
Lok amlai palai thung hoiah na pakaa ueloe, amrohaih phak naah, na zii mak ai.
22 You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth.
Amrohaih hoi khokhaahaih to na pahnui thuih ueloe, long nui ih hmawsaeng moinawk doeh na zii mak ai.
23 For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
Azawn ih thlungnawk loe lokmaihaih ampui baktiah om ueloe, taw ih moisannawk loe kamongah nang hoi nawnto om o tih.
24 You will know that your tent is secure, and find nothing amiss when inspecting your home.
Na ohhaih kahni im loe misa monghaih hoiah oh, tiah na panoek ueloe, na ohhaih ahmuen na phak naah, palungboenghaih om mak ai.
25 You will know that your offspring will be many, your descendants like the grass of the earth.
Nang ih atiinawk loe paroeai pop o tih, na caanawk loe long ih phroh baktiah om o tih, tiah na panoek tih.
26 You will come to the grave in full vigor, like a sheaf of grain gathered in season.
Atue phak naah aah ih cang baktiah, na mitong naah loe taprong ah na caeh tih.
27 Indeed, we have investigated, and it is true! So hear it and know for yourself.”
Khenah, hae hmuen hae ka pakrong o, to hmuen loe oh tangtang; to pongah tahngai ah loe, na hoih haih hanah pakuem ah, tiah a naa.
