< Job 21 >
Iyyoob akkana jedhee deebise:
2 “Listen carefully to my words; let this be your consolation to me.
“Dubbii koo qalbeeffadhaa dhaggeeffadhaa; kun waan isin ittiin na jajjabeessitan haa taʼu.
3 Bear with me while I speak; then, after I have spoken, you may go on mocking.
Yeroo ani dubbadhu naa obsaa; erga ani dubbadhee booddee isin natti qoosuu dandeessu.
4 Is my complaint against a man? Then why should I not be impatient?
“Dhugumaan kan ani komadhu namaa? Ani maaliif obsa hin dhabne ree?
5 Look at me and be appalled; put your hand over your mouth.
Na ilaalaatii dinqisiifadhaa; harka keessanis afaan keessan irra kaaʼadhaa.
6 When I remember, terror takes hold, and my body trembles in horror.
Ani yommuu waan kana yaadu nan sodaadha; hollannaanis na qabata.
7 Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?
Hamoonni maaliif itti fufanii lubbuun jiraatu? Maaliif dulloomanii humnas argachaa deemu?
8 Their descendants are established around them, and their offspring before their eyes.
Ijoolleen isaanii naannoo isaaniitti, sanyiin isaaniis fuula isaanii duratti jabaatanii dhaabatu.
9 Their homes are safe from fear; no rod of punishment from God is upon them.
Manni isaanii nagaa dha; waan sodaatu illee hin qabu; uleen Waaqaas isaan hin tuqxu.
10 Their bulls breed without fail; their cows bear calves and do not miscarry.
Kormi isaanii dhalchuu hin dadhabu; saawwan isaanii ni dhalu; hin gatatanis.
11 They send forth their little ones like a flock; their children skip about,
Isaan ijoollee isaanii akkuma bushaayeetti bobbaasu; daaʼimman isaanii immoo ni burraaqu.
12 singing to the tambourine and lyre and making merry at the sound of the flute.
Dibbee fi kiraaraan sirbu; sagalee ululleetiinis ni gammadu.
13 They spend their days in prosperity and go down to Sheol in peace. (Sheol )
Isaan bara isaanii badhaadhummaadhaan fixatu; nagaadhaanis ni awwaalamu. (Sheol )
14 Yet they say to God: ‘Leave us alone! For we have no desire to know Your ways.
Taʼu illee isaan Waaqaan akkana jedhu; ‘Nu dhiisi! Nu karaa kee beekuuf fedhii hin qabnu.
15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, and what would we gain if we pray to Him?’
Akka nu isa tajaajilluuf Waaqni waan Hunda Dandaʼu eenyu? Nu isa kadhannee maal arganna?’
16 Still, their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stay far from the counsel of the wicked.
Badhaadhummaan isaanii garuu isaan harka hin jiru; kanaafuu ani gorsa hamootaa irraa nan fagaadha.
17 How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? Does disaster come upon them? Does God, in His anger, apportion destruction?
“Garuu ibsaan hamootaa yoom iyyuu ni dhaamaa? Balaan yoom iyyuu isaanitti dhufaa? Waaqnis dheekkamsa isaatiin badiisa isaanitti fidaa?
18 Are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a storm?
Isaan akkuma cidii fuula qilleensaa duraa ti; akkuma habaqii bubbeen hamaan fudhatee deemuu ti.
19 It is said that God lays up one’s punishment for his children. Let God repay the man himself, so he will know it.
Isin, ‘Waaqni balleessaa nama tokkoo ilmaan isaatiif kuusa’ jettu. Akka inni waan kana beekuuf Waaqni namichuma mataa isaatiif gatii isaa haa kennu!
20 Let his eyes see his own destruction; let him drink for himself the wrath of the Almighty.
Iji isaa badiisa isaa haa argu; inni xoofoo dheekkamsa Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu haa dhugu.
21 For what does he care about his household after him, when the number of his months has run out?
Inni yeroo jiʼi isaaf qoodame dhumutti, waaʼee maatii isaa kan dhiisee biraa deemu sanaa dhimma maalii qabaata?
22 Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since He judges those on high?
“Namni tokko iyyuu Waaqa beekumsa barsiisuu dandaʼaa? Waaqni ol aantotatti iyyuu ni muraatii.
23 One man dies full of vigor, completely secure and at ease.
Namni tokko utuma itti tolee nagaan jiraatuu, utuma humna guutuu qabuu,
24 His body is well nourished, and his bones are rich with marrow.
utuma dhagni isaa gabbatee jiruu, utuma lafeen isaa dhukaan guutamee jiruu ni duʼa.
25 Yet another man dies in the bitterness of his soul, having never tasted prosperity.
Namni biraa immoo utuu gammachuu tokko illee hin argin, jireenya hadhaaʼaa jiraachaa duʼa.
26 But together they lie down in the dust, and worms cover them both.
Isaan biyyoo keessa wal bira ciciisu; lachan isaaniittuu raammoon ni tuutaʼa.
27 Behold, I know your thoughts full well, the schemes by which you would wrong me.
“Ani yaada keessanii fi mala isin ittiin na miidhuu barbaaddan nan beeka.
28 For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house, and where are the tents in which the wicked dwell?’
Isin, ‘Manni namicha guddaa, dunkaanni namoonni hamoon keessa jiraatan amma eessa jira?’ jettu.
29 Have you never asked those who travel the roads? Do you not accept their reports?
Isin namoota karaa deeman hin gaafannee? Waan isaan jedhanis hin qalbeeffannee?
30 Indeed, the evil man is spared from the day of calamity, delivered from the day of wrath.
Akka namni hamaan guyyaa balaa oolfamu, akka inni guyyaa dheekkamsaa illee baraaramu hin qalbeeffannee?
31 Who denounces his behavior to his face? Who repays him for what he has done?
Namni fuuluma isaa dura dhaabatee hojii isaa itti himu eenyu? Namni gatii waan inni hojjetee baasuuf eenyu?
32 He is carried to the grave, and watch is kept over his tomb.
Inni gara awwaalaatti geeffama; awwaalli isaas ni eegama.
33 The clods of the valley are sweet to him; everyone follows behind him, and those before him are without number.
Biyyoon sulula keessaa isatti miʼaawa; namoonni hundi isa duukaa buʼu; namoonni akka malee baayʼeenis fuula isaa dura deemu.
34 So how can you comfort me with empty words? For your answers remain full of falsehood.”
“Yoos isin akkamiin waan faayidaa hin qabneen na jajjabeessuu dandeessu ree? Deebiin keessanis soba qofa!”
