Jeremiah 6
1 “Run for cover, O sons of Benjamin; flee from Jerusalem! Sound the ram’s horn in Tekoa; send up a signal over Beth-haccherem, for disaster looms from the north, even great destruction.
Fugi em tropas, filhos de Benjamin, do meio de Jerusalém; e tocai a buzina em Tekoa, e levantai o facho sobre Beth-accerem: porque da banda do norte aparece um mal e um grande quebrantamento.
2 Though she is beautiful and delicate, I will destroy the Daughter of Zion.
A uma mulher formosa e delicada assimilhei a filha de Sião.
3 Shepherds and their flocks will come against her; they will pitch their tents all around her, each tending his own portion:
Mas a ela virão pastores com os seus rebanhos; levantarão contra ela tendas em redor, e cada um apascentará no seu lugar.
4 ‘Prepare for battle against her; rise up, let us attack at noon. Woe to us, for the daylight is fading; the evening shadows grow long.
Preparai a guerra contra ela, levantai-vos, e subamos ao pino do meio dia: ai de nós! que já declinou o dia, que já se vão estendendo as sombras da tarde.
5 Rise up, let us attack by night and destroy her fortresses!’”
Levantai-vos, e subamos de noite, e destruamos os seus palácios.
6 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Cut down the trees and raise a siege ramp against Jerusalem. This city must be punished; there is nothing but oppression in her midst.
Porque assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: cortai árvores, e levantai tranqueiras contra Jerusalém; esta é a cidade que há de ser visitada, mera opressão há no meio dela.
7 As a well gushes its water, so she pours out her evil. Violence and destruction resound in her; sickness and wounds are ever before Me.
Como a fonte produz as suas águas, assim ela produz a sua malícia: violência e estrago se ouvem nela; enfermidade e feridas há diante de mim continuadamente.
8 Be forewarned, O Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you; I will make you a desolation, a land without inhabitant.”
Corrige-te, ó Jerusalém, para que a minha alma não se aparte de ti, para que não te torne em assolação e terra não habitada.
9 This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Glean the remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine. Pass your hand once more like a grape gatherer over the branches.”
Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Diligentemente rabiscarão os resíduos de Israel com a vinha: torna a tua mão, como o vindimador, aos cestos.
10 To whom can I give this warning? Who will listen to me? Look, their ears are closed, so they cannot hear. See, the word of the LORD has become offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.
A quem falarei e testemunharei, que ouça? eis que os seus ouvidos estão incircuncisos, e já não podem escutar; eis que a palavra do Senhor lhes é coisa vergonhosa, e já não gostam dela
11 But I am full of the LORD’s wrath; I am tired of holding it back. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the young men gathered together. For both husband and wife will be captured, the old and the very old alike.
Pelo que já estou cheio do furor do Senhor, e cançado de o conter: derrama-lo-ei sobre os meninos pelas ruas, e sobre o ajuntamento dos mancebos juntamente; porque até o marido com a mulher serão presos, e o velho com o que está cheio de dias
12 Their houses will be turned over to others, their fields and wives as well, for I will stretch out My hand against the inhabitants of the land,”
E as suas casas passarão a outros, herdades e mulheres juntamente: porque estenderei a minha mão contra os habitantes desta terra, diz o Senhor.
13 “For from the least of them to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice deceit.
Porque desde o menor deles até ao maior deles, cada um se dá à avareza; e desde o profeta até ao sacerdote, cada um usa de falsidade.
14 They dress the wound of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
E curam o quebrantamento da filha do meu povo levianamente, dizendo: Paz, paz; e não há paz.
15 Are they ashamed of the abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they will collapse,”
Porventura envergonham-se de fazerem abominação? antes de maneira nenhuma são envergonhados, nem tão pouco sabem que coisa é envergonhar-se; portanto cairão entre os que caem; no tempo da sua visitação tropeçarão, diz o Senhor.
16 This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths: ‘Where is the good way?’ Then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’
Assim diz o Senhor: Ponde-vos nos caminhos, e vede, e perguntai pelas veredas antigas, qual seja o bom caminho, e andai por ele; e achareis descanço para a vossa alma: e dizem: Não andaremos por ele.
17 I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen for the sound of the ram’s horn.’ But they answered, ‘We will not listen!’
Também pus atalaias sobre vós, dizendo: estai atentos à voz da buzina: e dizem: Não escutaremos.
18 Therefore hear, O nations, and learn, O congregations, what will happen to them.
Portanto ouvi, vós, nações; e informa-te tu, ó congregação, do que se faz entre eles
19 Hear, O earth! I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their own schemes, because they have paid no attention to My word and have rejected My instruction.
Ouve tu, ó terra! Eis que eu trarei mal sobre este povo, a saber, o fruto dos seus pensamentos; porque não estão atentos às minhas palavras, e rejeitam a minha lei
20 What use to Me is frankincense from Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please Me.”
Para que pois me virá o incenso de Saba e a melhor cana aromática de terras remotas? vossos holocaustos não me agradam, nem me são suaves os vossos sacrifícios.
21 Therefore this is what the LORD says: “I will lay stumbling blocks before this people; fathers and sons alike will be staggered; friends and neighbors will perish.”
Portanto assim diz o Senhor: Eis que armarei a este povo tropeços; e tropeçarão neles pais e filhos juntamente: o vizinho e o seu companheiro; e perecerão.
22 This is what the LORD says: “Behold, an army is coming from the land of the north; a great nation is stirred up from the ends of the earth.
Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que um povo vem da terra do norte, e uma grande nação se levantará das bandas da terra.
23 They grasp the bow and spear; they are cruel and merciless. Their voice roars like the sea, and they ride upon horses, lined up like men in formation against you, O Daughter of Zion.”
Arco e lança trarão, cruéis são, e não usarão de misericórdia, a sua voz rugirá como o mar, e em cavalos irão montados, dispostos como homens de guerra contra ti, ó filha de Sião
24 We have heard the report; our hands hang limp. Anguish has gripped us, pain like that of a woman in labor.
Já ouvimos a sua fama, afrouxaram-se as nossas mãos; já angústia nos tomou, e dores como da mulher que está de parto.
25 Do not go out to the fields; do not walk the road. For the enemy has a sword; terror is on every side.
Não saias ao campo, nem andeis pelo caminho; porque espada do inimigo e espanto há ao redor.
26 O daughter of my people, dress yourselves in sackcloth and roll in ashes. Mourn with bitter wailing, as you would for an only son, for suddenly the destroyer will come upon us.
Ó filha do meu povo, cinge-te de saco, e revolve-te na cinza: pranteia como por um filho único, pranto de amarguras; porque presto virá o destruidor sobre nós.
27 “I have appointed you to examine My people like ore, so you may know and try their ways.
Por torre de guarda te pus entre o meu povo, por fortaleza, para que soubesses e examinasses o seu caminho.
28 All are hardened rebels, walking around as slanderers. They are bronze and iron; all of them are corrupt.
Todos eles são os mais rebeldes; que andam murmurando; são duros como bronze e ferro; todos eles andam corruptamente.
29 The bellows blow fiercely, blasting away the lead with fire. The refining proceeds in vain, for the wicked are not purged.
Já o fole se queimou, o chumbo se consumiu com o fogo: em vão fundiu o fundidor tão diligentemente, pois os maus não são arrancados.
30 They are called rejected silver, because the LORD has rejected them.”
Prata rejeitada lhes chamarão, porque o Senhor os rejeitou.
