Jeremiah 51
1 This is what the LORD says: “Behold, I will stir up against Babylon and against the people of Leb-kamai the spirit of a destroyer.
সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “দেখো, আমি এক ধ্বংসকারী আত্মাকে প্রেরণ করব ব্যাবিলনের ও লেব-কামাইয়ের লোকদের বিরুদ্ধে।
2 I will send strangers to Babylon to winnow her and empty her land; for they will come against her from every side in her day of disaster.
আমি ব্যাবিলনকে ঝাড়াই করা তুষের মতো উড়িয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য তার মধ্যে বিদেশিদের প্রেরণ করব; তার বিপর্যয়ের দিনে, তারা চারপাশ থেকেই তার বিরোধিতা করবে।
3 Do not let the archer bend his bow or put on his armor. Do not spare her young men; devote all her army to destruction!
তিরন্দাজদের ধনুকে ছিলা পরাতে দিয়ো না, তারা যেন তাদের বর্ম পরতে না পারে। তাদের যুবকদের প্রতি মমতা কোরো না, তার সৈন্যদলকে সম্পূর্ণ ধ্বংস করে দিয়ো।
4 And they will fall slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and pierced through in her streets.
তারা নিহত হয়ে ব্যাবিলনে পড়ে থাকবে, মারাত্মকরূপে আহত হয়ে পথে পথে পড়ে থাকবে।
5 For Israel and Judah have not been abandoned by their God, the LORD of Hosts, though their land is full of guilt before the Holy One of Israel.”
কারণ ইস্রায়েল ও যিহূদাকে তাদের ঈশ্বর, বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু পরিত্যাগ করেননি, যদিও তাদের দেশ ইস্রায়েলের পবিত্রজনের সামনে অপরাধে পরিপূর্ণ হয়েছিল।
6 Flee from Babylon! Escape with your lives! Do not be destroyed in her punishment. For this is the time of the LORD’s vengeance; He will pay her what she deserves.
“ব্যাবিলন থেকে পলায়ন করো! তোমাদের প্রাণ বাঁচানোর জন্য দৌড়াও! ব্যাবিলনের পাপের জন্য তোমরা ধ্বংস হোয়ো না। এ হল সদাপ্রভুর প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণের সময়; তার উপযুক্ত প্রাপ্য প্রতিফল তিনি তাকে দেবেন।
7 Babylon was a gold cup in the hand of the LORD, making the whole earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore the nations have gone mad.
সদাপ্রভুর হাতে ব্যাবিলন ছিল সোনার পানপাত্রের মতো; এমন পানপাত্র, যার মধ্যে সমস্ত পৃথিবী পান করেছিল। জাতিগণ তার সুরা পান করেছিল; সেই কারণে, তারা এখন উন্মত্ত হয়ে গেছে।
8 Suddenly Babylon has fallen and been shattered. Wail for her; get her balm for her pain; perhaps she can be healed.
ব্যাবিলনের হঠাৎই পতন হবে, সে ভগ্ন হবে। তার কারণে বিলাপ করো! তার ব্যথার জন্য মলম নিয়ে এসো, হয়তো তার ক্ষতের নিরাময় হবে।
9 “We tried to heal Babylon, but she could not be healed. Abandon her! Let each of us go to his own land, for her judgment extends to the sky and reaches to the clouds.”
“‘আমরা ব্যাবিলনকে সুস্থ করতে পারতাম, কিন্তু সে নিরাময়ের অযোগ্য হয়ে পড়েছে; এসো আমরা তাকে ত্যাগ করে প্রত্যেকে স্বদেশে ফিরে যাই, কারণ তার বিচার গগনস্পর্শী, তা মেঘ পর্যন্ত উঁচুতে উঠে যায়।’
10 “The LORD has brought forth our vindication; come, let us tell in Zion what the LORD our God has accomplished.”
“‘সদাপ্রভু আমাদের নির্দোষিতা প্রকাশ করেছেন; সদাপ্রভু, আমাদের ঈশ্বর যা করেছেন, এসো, আমরা সিয়োনে গিয়ে তা বলি।’
11 Sharpen the arrows! Fill the quivers! The LORD has aroused the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because His plan is aimed at Babylon to destroy her, for it is the vengeance of the LORD— vengeance for His temple.
“তোমরা তিরের ফলায় ধার দাও, সব ঢাল হাতে তুলে নাও! সদাপ্রভু মাদীয় রাজাদের উত্তেজিত করেছেন, কারণ ব্যাবিলনকে ধ্বংস করাই হল তাঁর অভিপ্রায়। সদাপ্রভু প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণ করবেন, তাঁর মন্দির ধ্বংসের জন্য প্রতিশোধ নেবেন।
12 Raise a banner against the walls of Babylon; post the guard; station the watchmen; prepare the ambush. For the LORD has both devised and accomplished what He spoke against the people of Babylon.
ব্যাবিলনের প্রাচীরগুলির বিরুদ্ধে পতাকা তোলো! রক্ষীবাহিনীকে আরও মজবুত করো, স্থানে স্থানে প্রহরী নিযুক্ত করো, গোপনে ওত পাতা সৈন্যদের তৈরি রাখো! ব্যাবিলনের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর রায়, তাদের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভু তাঁর অভিপ্রায় পূর্ণ করবেন।
13 You who dwell by many waters, rich in treasures, your end has come; the thread of your life is cut.
তোমরা যারা জলরাশির তীরে বসবাস করো, আর যারা ধনসম্পদে ঐশ্বর্যবান, তোমাদের শেষের দিন এসে পড়েছে, সময় এসে গেছে তোমাদের উচ্ছিন্ন হওয়ার।
14 The LORD of Hosts has sworn by Himself: “Surely I will fill you up with men as with locusts, and they will shout in triumph over you.”
বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু নিজের নামেই শপথ করেছেন: আমি নিশ্চয়ই ঝাঁক ঝাঁক পঙ্গপালের মতো তোমার দেশ লোকে পরিপূর্ণ করব, তারা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে সিংহনাদ করবে।
15 The LORD made the earth by His power; He established the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.
“সদাপ্রভু নিজের পরাক্রমে পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছেন; এবং তাঁরই বুদ্ধিতে আকাশমণ্ডল প্রসারিত করেছেন। তিনি নিজের প্রজ্ঞায় জগৎ স্থাপন করেছেন এবং তাঁরই বুদ্ধিতে আকাশমণ্ডল প্রসারিত করেছেন।
16 When He thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He generates the lightning with the rain and brings forth the wind from His storehouses.
তিনি যখন বজ্রনাদ করেন, আকাশমণ্ডলের জলরাশি গর্জন করে; পৃথিবীর প্রান্তসীমা থেকে তিনি মেঘমালাকে উত্থিত করেন। তিনি বৃষ্টির জন্য বিদ্যুৎ গঠন করেন এবং তাঁর ভাণ্ডার-কক্ষ থেকে বাতাস বের করে আনেন।
17 Every man is senseless and devoid of knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols. For his molten images are a fraud, and there is no breath in them.
“সব মানুষই জ্ঞানহীন ও বুদ্ধিরহিত; সব স্বর্ণকার তার প্রতিমাগুলির জন্য লজ্জিত হয়। তাদের মূর্তিগুলি তো প্রতারণা মাত্র; সেগুলির মধ্যে কোনো শ্বাসবায়ু নেই।
18 They are worthless, a work to be mocked. In the time of their punishment they will perish.
সেগুলি মূল্যহীন, বিদ্রুপের পাত্র; বিচারের সময় সেগুলি বিনষ্ট হবে।
19 The Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, and of the tribe of His inheritance— the LORD of Hosts is His name.
যিনি যাকোবের অধিকারস্বরূপ, তিনি এরকম নন, কারণ তিনিই সব বিষয়ের স্রষ্টা, যার অন্তর্ভুক্ত হল তাঁর প্রজাবৃন্দ, তাঁর নিজস্ব বিশেষ অধিকার— সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু তাঁর নাম।
20 “You are My war club, My weapon for battle. With you I shatter nations; with you I bring kingdoms to ruin.
“তুমিই আমার যুদ্ধের মুগুর, যুদ্ধের জন্য আমার অস্ত্র। তোমাকে দিয়েই আমি জাতিগুলিকে চূর্ণ করি, তোমার দ্বারাই আমি রাজ্যগুলিকে ধ্বংস করি,
21 With you I shatter the horse and rider; with you I shatter the chariot and driver.
তোমার দ্বারা আমি অশ্ব ও অশ্বারোহীকে চূর্ণ করি, তোমার দ্বারা আমি রথ ও তার চালককে চূর্ণ করি,
22 With you I shatter man and woman; with you I shatter the old man and the youth; with you I shatter the young man and the maiden.
তোমার দ্বারা আমি নারী ও পুরুষকে চূর্ণ করি, তোমাকে দিয়েই আমি বৃদ্ধ ও যুবকদের চূর্ণ করি, তোমাকে দিয়ে আমি যুবক ও যুবতীকে চূর্ণ করি।
23 With you I shatter the shepherd and his flock; with you I shatter the farmer and his oxen; with you I shatter the governors and officials.
তোমার দ্বারা আমি পালরক্ষক ও তার পালকে চূর্ণ করি তোমার দ্বারা আমি কৃষক ও বৃষদের চূর্ণ করি, তোমার দ্বারা আমি প্রদেশপাল ও রাজকর্মচারীদের চূর্ণ করি।
24 Before your very eyes I will repay Babylon and all the dwellers of Chaldea for all the evil they have done in Zion,”
“সিয়োনে ব্যাবিলন ও ব্যাবিলনের নিবাসীরা যে অন্যায় করেছে, তার জন্য আমি তোমাদের চোখের সামনে তাদের সবাইকে প্রতিফল দেব,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
25 “Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, you who devastate the whole earth, declares the LORD. I will stretch out My hand against you; I will roll you over the cliffs and turn you into a charred mountain.
“হে ধ্বংসকারী পর্বত, তুমি যে সমস্ত পৃথিবীকে ধ্বংস করো, আমি তোমার বিপক্ষ,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। “আমি তোমার উপরে আমার হাত প্রসারিত করব, খাড়া উঁচু পাথর থেকে তোমাকে গড়িয়ে দেব, তুমি একটি পুড়ে যাওয়া পর্বতের মতো হবে।
26 No one shall retrieve from you a cornerstone or a foundation stone, because you will become desolate forever,”
কোণের পাথর করার জন্য তোমার মধ্য থেকে কোনো পাথর আর কেউ নেবে না, কিংবা ভিত্তিমূলের জন্য তোমার কোনো পাথর নেওয়া হবে না, কারণ তুমি চিরকালের জন্য পরিত্যক্ত হবে,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
27 “Raise a banner in the land! Blow the ram’s horn among the nations! Prepare the nations against her. Summon the kingdoms against her— Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz. Appoint a captain against her; bring up horses like swarming locusts.
“তোমরা দেশের মধ্যে পতাকা তোলো! জাতিগণের মধ্যে তূরী বাজাও! ব্যাবিলনের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের জন্য জাতিগণকে প্রস্তুত করো; আরারট, মিন্নি ও অস্কিনস্, এই রাজ্যগুলিকে তার বিরুদ্ধে ডেকে পাঠাও। তার বিরুদ্ধে এক সেনাপতিকে নিয়োগ করো, পঙ্গপালের ঝাঁকের মতো অশ্বদের পাঠিয়ে দাও।
28 Prepare the nations for battle against her— the kings of the Medes, their governors and all their officials, and all the lands they rule.
তার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের জন্য জাতিগণকে প্রস্তুত করো— মাদীয় রাজাদের, তাদের প্রদেশপাল ও রাজকর্মচারীদের ও তাদের শাসনাধীনে থাকা যত দেশকে।
29 The earth quakes and writhes because the LORD’s intentions against Babylon stand: to make the land of Babylon a desolation, without inhabitant.
সেই দেশ কাঁপছে ও যন্ত্রণায় মোচড় খাচ্ছে, কারণ ব্যাবিলনের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভুর অভিপ্রায়গুলি স্থির রয়েছে— যেন ব্যাবিলন পরিত্যক্ত পড়ে থাকে, আর কেউই তার মধ্যে বসবাস করবে না।
30 The warriors of Babylon have stopped fighting; they sit in their strongholds. Their strength is exhausted; they have become like women. Babylon’s homes have been set ablaze, the bars of her gates are broken.
ব্যাবিলনের যোদ্ধারা যুদ্ধ করা থামিয়েছে; তারা নিজেদের দুর্গগুলির মধ্যে আছে। তাদের শক্তি নিঃশেষিত হয়েছে; তারা সব এক-একটি নারীর মতো হয়েছে। তাদের বাড়িগুলিতে আগুন দেওয়া হয়েছে; তাদের সব নগরদ্বারের স্তম্ভগুলি ভেঙে গেছে।
31 One courier races to meet another, and messenger follows messenger, to announce to the king of Babylon that his city has been captured from end to end.
একের পর এক সংবাদদাতারা আসছে, এক দূতের পিছনে আর এক দূত আসছে, যেন ব্যাবিলনের রাজাকে সংবাদ দিতে পারে, যে তার সমগ্র রাজ্য অধিকৃত হয়েছে।
32 The fords have been seized, the marshes set on fire, and the soldiers are terrified.”
নদীর পারঘাটগুলি পরহস্তগত হয়েছে, নলখাগড়ার বনে আগুন ধরানো হয়েছে এবং সব সৈন্য আতঙ্কগ্রস্ত হয়েছে।”
33 For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “The Daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time it is trampled. In just a little while her harvest time will come.”
বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এই কথা বলেন: “ব্যাবিলন-কন্যা শস্য মাড়াই করা খামারের মতো হয়েছে, উপযুক্ত সময়ে সে পদদলিত হয়েছে; তার মধ্য থেকে ফসল কাটার সময় শীঘ্র উপস্থিত হবে।”
34 “Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has devoured me; he has crushed me. He has set me aside like an empty vessel; he has swallowed me like a monster; he filled his belly with my delicacies and vomited me out.
“ব্যাবিলনের রাজা নেবুখাদনেজার আমাদের গ্রাস করেছেন, তিনি আমাদের বিভ্রান্তির মধ্যে ফেলেছেন, তিনি আমাদের শূন্য কলশির মতো করেছেন। সাপের মতো তিনি আমাদের গ্রাস করেছেন এবং আমাদের পুষ্টিকর আহারে নিজের উদরপূর্তি করেছেন, তারপর আমাদের বমন করেছেন।
35 May the violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon,” says the dweller of Zion. “May my blood be on the dwellers of Chaldea,” says Jerusalem.
আমাদের শরীরের উপরে যে অত্যাচার করা হয়েছে, তা ব্যাবিলনের প্রতিও করা হোক,” একথা সিয়োনের অধিবাসীরা বলুক। জেরুশালেম বলুক, “যারা ব্যাবিলনিয়ায় বসবাস করে, আমাদের রক্তের জন্য তারা দায়ী হোক।”
36 Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Behold, I will plead your case and take vengeance on your behalf; I will dry up her sea and make her springs run dry.
সেই কারণে, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “দেখো, আমি তোমাদের পক্ষসমর্থন করব ও তোমাদের পক্ষে প্রতিশোধ নেব; আমি তার সমুদ্রকে জলশূন্য করব ও তার জলের উৎসগুলিকে শুকনো করব।
37 Babylon will become a heap of rubble, a haunt for jackals, an object of horror and scorn, without inhabitant.
ব্যাবিলন হবে এক ধ্বংসের স্তূপ, শিয়ালদের থাকার আস্তানা, সে হবে এক বিভীষিকা ও বিদ্রুপের পাত্র, এমন স্থান, যেখানে কেউ বসবাস করবে না।
38 They will roar together like young lions; they will growl like lion cubs.
তার লোকেরা যুবসিংহদের মতো গর্জন করবে, তারা সিংহশাবকদের মতো তর্জন করবে।
39 While they are flushed with heat, I will serve them a feast, and I will make them drunk so that they may revel; then they will fall asleep forever and never wake up, declares the LORD.
কিন্তু যখন তারা উত্তেজিত হবে, আমি তাদের জন্য এক ভোজের ব্যবস্থা করব এবং তাদের মত্ত করব, যেন তারা হেসে হেসে চিৎকার করে, তারপর চিরনিদ্রায় শয়ন করে, কখনও জেগে না ওঠার জন্য,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with male goats.
“আমি তাদের নিচে টেনে নামাব, যেভাবে মেষশাবকদের, মেষ ও ছাগলদের ঘাতকের কাছে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়।
41 How Sheshach has been captured! The praise of all the earth has been seized. What a horror Babylon has become among the nations!
“শেশক কেমন অধিকৃত হবে, সমস্ত পৃথিবীর গর্ব পরহস্তগত হবে। জাতিগণের মধ্য ব্যাবিলন কত না বিভীষিকার পাত্র হবে!
42 The sea has come up over Babylon; she is covered in turbulent waves.
সমুদ্র ব্যাবিলনকে আচ্ছন্ন করবে; তার গর্জনকারী তরঙ্গমালা ব্যাবিলনের উপরে এসে পড়বে।
43 Her cities have become a desolation, a dry and arid land, a land where no one lives, where no son of man passes through.
তার নগরগুলি পরিত্যক্ত হবে, সেগুলি হবে শুকনো ও মরুপ্রান্তরের দেশ, এমন দেশ, যেখানে কেউ বসবাস করে না, যার মধ্য দিয়ে কেউ পথযাত্রা করে না।
44 I will punish Bel in Babylon. I will make him spew out what he swallowed. The nations will no longer stream to him; even the wall of Babylon will fall.
আমি ব্যাবিলনের বেল-দেবতাকে শাস্তি দেব, সে যা গলার্ধঃকরণ করেছে, তা বমি করতে তাকে বাধ্য করব। জাতিগুলি আর তার দিকে স্রোতের মতো প্রবাহিত হবে না, আর ব্যাবিলনের প্রাচীর পতিত হবে।
45 Come out of her, My people! Save your lives, each of you, from the fierce anger of the LORD.
“আমার প্রজারা, তোমরা ওর মধ্য থেকে বের হয়ে এসো! তোমরা প্রাণ বাঁচানোর জন্য পালাও! সদাপ্রভুর প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধ থেকে পালাও।
46 Do not let your heart grow faint, and do not be afraid when the rumor is heard in the land; for a rumor will come one year— and then another the next year— of violence in the land and of ruler against ruler.
দেশে যখন জনরব শোনা যাবে, তোমরা নিরুৎসাহ হোয়ো না বা ভয় পেয়ো না; এক ধরনের জনরব এই বছরে, পরের বছর অন্য জনরব উঠে আসবে, তা হবে দেশের মধ্যে দৌরাত্ম্যের গুজব, যা এক শাসক অন্য শাসকের প্রতি করছে।
47 Therefore, behold, the days are coming when I will punish the idols of Babylon. Her entire land will suffer shame, and all her slain will lie fallen within her.
কারণ সেই সময় নিশ্চিতরূপে আসবে, যখন আমি ব্যাবিলনের প্রতিমাগুলিকে শাস্তি দেব; তার সমস্ত দেশ অপমানগ্রস্ত হবে, তার সমস্ত নিহতেরা তারই এলাকায় পড়ে থাকবে।
48 Then heaven and earth and all that is in them will shout for joy over Babylon because the destroyers from the north will come against her,”
তখন আকাশমণ্ডল ও পৃথিবী এবং সেগুলির মধ্যস্থিত সবকিছু ব্যাবিলনের বিষয়ে আনন্দে চিৎকার করবে, কারণ উত্তর দিক থেকে বিনাশকেরা তাকে আক্রমণ করবে,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
49 “Babylon must fall on account of the slain of Israel, just as the slain of all the earth have fallen because of Babylon.
“ইস্রায়েলকে হত্যা করার জন্য ব্যাবিলনের অবশ্যই পতন হবে, যেমন সমস্ত পৃথিবীর নিহতেরা ব্যাবিলনের কারণে পতিত হয়েছিল।
50 You who have escaped the sword, depart and do not linger! Remember the LORD from far away, and let Jerusalem come to mind.”
তোমরা যারা তরোয়ালের যন্ত্রণা এড়িয়ে গিয়েছ, তোমরা চলে এসো দেরি কোরো না! দূরদেশে সদাপ্রভুকে স্মরণ করো এবং জেরুশালেমের কথা ভাবো।”
51 “We are ashamed because we have heard reproach; disgrace has covered our faces, because foreigners have entered the holy places of the LORD’s house.”
লোকেরা বলছে, “আমরা লাঞ্ছিত হয়েছি, কারণ আমাদের অপমান করা হয়েছে এবং লজ্জা আমাদের মুখ আচ্ছন্ন করেছে, কারণ বিদেশিরা সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে, পবিত্র স্থানগুলিতে প্রবেশ করেছে।”
52 “Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will punish her idols, and throughout her land the wounded will groan.
সদাপ্রভু ঘোষণা করেন, “কিন্তু সেইসব দিন আসছে, যখন আমি ব্যাবিলনের প্রতিমাগুলিকে শাস্তি দেব। তার সমস্ত দেশ জুড়ে আহতেরা আর্তনাদ করবে।
53 Even if Babylon ascends to the heavens and fortifies her lofty stronghold, the destroyers I send will come against her,” declares the LORD.
ব্যাবিলন যদিও গগন স্পর্শ করে এবং তার শক্তিশালী দুর্গগুলিকে অগম্য করে, তবুও তার বিরুদ্ধে আমি বিনাশকদের প্রেরণ করব,” সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
54 “The sound of a cry comes from Babylon, the sound of great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans!
“কান্নার এক হাহাকার শব্দ ব্যাবিলন থেকে আসছে, তা এক মহাবিনাশের শব্দ, যা আসছে ব্যাবিলনীয়দের দেশ থেকে।
55 For the LORD will destroy Babylon; He will silence her mighty voice. The waves will roar like great waters; the tumult of their voices will resound.
সদাপ্রভু ব্যাবিলনকে ধ্বংস করবেন; তিনি তার হৈ-হল্লাকে স্তব্ধ করে দেবেন। মহাজলরাশির মতো শত্রুদের গর্জনের ঢেউ আছড়ে পড়বে; তাদের গর্জনের শব্দ ধ্বনিত-প্রতিধ্বনিত হবে।
56 For a destroyer is coming against her— against Babylon. Her warriors will be captured, and their bows will be broken, for the LORD is a God of retribution; He will repay in full.
ব্যাবিলনের বিরুদ্ধে একজন বিনাশক আসবে; তার যোদ্ধারা সবাই বন্দি হবে, তাদের ধনুকগুলি ভেঙে ফেলা হবে। কারণ সদাপ্রভু হলেন প্রতিফলদাতা ঈশ্বর, তিনি পূর্ণরূপে প্রতিশোধ নেবেন।
57 I will make her princes and wise men drunk, along with her governors, officials, and warriors. Then they will fall asleep forever and not wake up,” declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.

58 This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled, and her high gates consumed by fire. So the labor of the people will be for nothing; the nations will exhaust themselves to fuel the flames.”
বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: “ব্যাবিলনের প্রশস্ত প্রাচীর ভেঙে সমান করে দেওয়া হবে এবং তার উঁচু তোরণদ্বারগুলি পুড়িয়ে দেওয়া হবে; লোকেরা মিথ্যাই নিজেদের ক্লান্ত করে, জাতিগুলির পরিশ্রম কেবলমাত্র আগুনের শিখায় জ্বালানি দেওয়ার মতো।”
59 This is the message that Jeremiah the prophet gave to the quartermaster Seraiah son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went to Babylon with King Zedekiah of Judah in the fourth year of Zedekiah’s reign.
যিহূদার রাজা সিদিকিয়ের রাজত্বের চতুর্থ বছরে, মাসেয়ের পৌত্র নেরিয়ের পুত্র সরায়, যে সময়ে রাজার সঙ্গে ব্যাবিলনে যান, সেই সময় ভাববাদী যিরমিয় সরাইকে এই বার্তা দেন।
60 Jeremiah had written on a single scroll about all the disaster that would come upon Babylon—all these words that had been written concerning Babylon.
যিরমিয় একটি পুঁথিতে সেই সমস্ত বিপর্যয়ের কথা লিখেছিলেন, যা ব্যাবিলনের উপরে নেমে আসতে চলেছিল, অর্থাৎ, ব্যাবিলন সম্পর্কে নথিভুক্ত সমস্ত কথা।
61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “When you get to Babylon, see that you read all these words aloud,
তিনি সরায়কে বললেন, “তুমি যখন ব্যাবিলনে পৌঁছাবে, তখন দেখো, এ সমস্তই যেন সেখানে জোরে জোরে পাঠ করা হয়।
62 and say, ‘O LORD, You have promised to cut off this place so that no one will remain—neither man nor beast. Indeed, it will be desolate forever.’
তারপরে বোলো, ‘হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি তো বলেছিলে যে, তুমি এই স্থান ধ্বংস করবে, যেন কোনো মানুষ বা পশু এখানে থাকতে না পারে; এ চিরকালের জন্য পরিত্যক্ত থাকবে।’
63 When you finish reading this scroll, tie a stone to it and cast it into the Euphrates.
তুমি যখন এই পুঁথিতে লেখা কথাগুলি পড়ে শেষ করবে, তখন এর সঙ্গে একটি পাথর বেঁধে, এটি ইউফ্রেটিস নদীতে ডুবিয়ে দেবে।
64 Then you are to say, ‘In the same way Babylon will sink and never rise again, because of the disaster I will bring upon her. And her people will grow weary.’” Here end the words of Jeremiah.
তারপর বলবে, ‘আমি যে সমস্ত বিপর্যয় ব্যাবিলনের উপরে নিয়ে আসব, সেই কারণে ব্যাবিলন এভাবে ডুবে যাবে, আর কখনও উঠতে পারবে না। আর তার সমস্ত অধিবাসীর পতন হবে।’” যিরমিয়ের সমস্ত কথার সমাপ্তি এখানেই।
