Jeremiah 32
1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.
Esta es la palabra que vino a Jeremías de parte de Yahvé en el décimo año de Sedequías, rey de Judá, que era el año dieciocho de Nabucodonosor.
2 At that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was imprisoned in the courtyard of the guard, which was in the palace of the king of Judah.
En aquel tiempo el ejército del rey de Babilonia estaba sitiando Jerusalén. El profeta Jeremías estaba encerrado en el patio de la guardia, que estaba en la casa del rey de Judá.
3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had imprisoned him, saying: “Why are you prophesying like this? You claim that the LORD says, ‘Behold, I am about to deliver this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will capture it.
Porque Sedequías, rey de Judá, le había hecho callar, diciendo: “¿Por qué profetizas y dices: “El Señor dice: “He aquí que yo entrego esta ciudad en manos del rey de Babilonia, y él la tomará;
4 Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape from the hands of the Chaldeans, but he will surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him face to face and see him eye to eye.
y Sedequías, rey de Judá, no escapará de la mano de los caldeos, sino que será entregado a la mano del rey de Babilonia, y hablará con él de boca a boca, y sus ojos verán sus ojos;
5 He will take Zedekiah to Babylon, where he will stay until I attend to him, declares the LORD. If you fight against the Chaldeans, you will not succeed.’”
y él llevará a Sedequías a Babilonia, y estará allí hasta que yo lo visite — dice Yahvé —, aunque luches con los caldeos, no prosperarás?”’”
6 Jeremiah replied, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Jeremías dijo: “La palabra de Yahvé vino a mí, diciendo:
7 Behold! Hanamel, the son of your uncle Shallum, is coming to you to say, ‘Buy for yourself my field in Anathoth, for you have the right of redemption to buy it.’
‘He aquí que Hanamel, hijo de Salum, tu tío, vendrá a ti, diciendo: “Compra mi campo que está en Anatot; porque el derecho de redención es tuyo para comprarlo”’”.
8 Then, as the LORD had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guard and urged me, ‘Please buy my field in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for you own the right of inheritance and redemption. Buy it for yourself.’” Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
“Entonces Hanamel, el hijo de mi tío, vino a mí en el patio de la guardia, según la palabra de Yahvé, y me dijo: ‘Por favor, compra mi campo que está en Anatot, que está en la tierra de Benjamín; porque el derecho de herencia es tuyo, y la redención es tuya. Cómpralo para ti’. “Entonces supe que ésta era la palabra de Yahvé.
9 So I bought the field in Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel, and I weighed out seventeen shekels of silver.
Compré el campo que estaba en Anatot a Hanamel, hijo de mi tío, y le pesé el dinero, diecisiete siclos de plata.
10 I signed and sealed the deed, called in witnesses, and weighed out the silver on the scales.
Firmé la escritura, la sellé, llamé a los testigos y le pesé el dinero en la balanza.
11 Then I took the deed of purchase—the sealed copy with its terms and conditions, as well as the open copy—
Entonces tomé la escritura de la compra, tanto la que estaba sellada, que contenía los términos y condiciones, como la que estaba abierta;
12 and I gave this deed to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of my cousin Hanamel and the witnesses who were signing the purchase agreement and all the Jews sitting in the courtyard of the guard.
y entregué la escritura de la compra a Baruc hijo de Nerías, hijo de Maseías, en presencia de Hanamel, hijo de mi tío, y en presencia de los testigos que firmaron la escritura de la compra, ante todos los judíos que estaban sentados en el patio de la guardia.
13 In their sight I instructed Baruch,
“Ordené a Baruc delante de ellos, diciendo:
14 “This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Take these deeds—both the sealed copy and the open copy of the deed of purchase—and put them in a clay jar to preserve them for a long time.
Yahvé de los Ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, dice: ‘Toma estas escrituras, esta escritura de compra que está sellada, y esta escritura que está abierta, y ponlas en una vasija de barro, para que duren muchos días’.
15 For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: Houses, fields, and vineyards will again be bought in this land.”
Porque el Señor de los Ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, dice: ‘Todavía se comprarán casas, campos y viñedos en esta tierra.’
16 After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD:
Después de entregar la escritura de compra a Baruc, hijo de Nerías, oré a Yahvé, diciendo
17 “Oh, Lord GOD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You!
“¡Ah, Señor Yahvé! He aquí que tú has hecho los cielos y la tierra con tu gran poder y con tu brazo extendido. No hay nada demasiado difícil para ti.
18 You show loving devotion to thousands but lay the iniquity of the fathers into the laps of their children after them, O great and mighty God whose name is the LORD of Hosts,
Tú muestras tu bondad a miles de personas, y devuelves la iniquidad de los padres al seno de sus hijos después de ellos. El grande, el poderoso Dios, Yahvé de los Ejércitos es tu nombre:
19 the One great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are on all the ways of the sons of men, to reward each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.
grande en el consejo y poderoso en la obra; cuyos ojos están abiertos a todos los caminos de los hijos de los hombres, para dar a cada uno según sus caminos y según el fruto de sus obras;
20 You performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and You do so to this very day, both in Israel and among all mankind. And You have made a name for Yourself, as is the case to this day.
que hiciste señales y prodigios en la tierra de Egipto, hasta el día de hoy, tanto en Israel como entre los demás hombres; y te hiciste un nombre, como lo es hoy;
21 You brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great terror.
y sacaste a tu pueblo Israel de la tierra de Egipto con señales, con prodigios, con mano fuerte, con brazo extendido y con gran terror;
22 You gave them this land that You had sworn to give their fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.
y les diste esta tierra, que juraste a sus padres que les darías, una tierra que mana leche y miel.
23 They came in and possessed it, but they did not obey Your voice or walk in Your law. They failed to perform all that You commanded them to do, and so You have brought upon them all this disaster.
Entraron y la poseyeron, pero no obedecieron tu voz ni anduvieron en tu ley. No han hecho nada de todo lo que les mandaste hacer. Por eso has hecho que les sobrevenga todo este mal.
24 See how the siege ramps are mounted against the city to capture it. And by sword and famine and plague, the city has been given into the hands of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What You have spoken has happened, as You now see!
“He aquí que se han construido rampas de asedio contra la ciudad para tomarla. La ciudad está en manos de los caldeos que luchan contra ella, a causa de la espada, del hambre y de la peste. Lo que has dicho ha sucedido. He aquí, tú lo ves.
25 Yet You, O Lord GOD, have said to me, ‘Buy for yourself the field with silver and call in witnesses, even though the city has been delivered into the hands of the Chaldeans!’”
Tú me has dicho, Señor Yahvé, ‘Compra el campo por dinero y llama a los testigos’, mientras que la ciudad ha sido entregada en manos de los caldeos.”
26 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
Entonces vino la palabra de Yahvé a Jeremías, diciendo:
27 “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too difficult for Me?
“He aquí que yo soy Yahvé, el Dios de toda carne. ¿Hay algo que sea demasiado difícil para mí?
28 Therefore this is what the LORD says: Behold, I am about to deliver this city into the hands of the Chaldeans and of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who will capture it.
Por eso dice Yahvé: He aquí que yo entrego esta ciudad en manos de los caldeos y en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y él la tomará.
29 And the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will come in, set it on fire, and burn it, along with the houses of those who provoked Me to anger by burning incense to Baal on their rooftops and by pouring out drink offerings to other gods.
Los caldeos, que luchan contra esta ciudad, vendrán y prenderán fuego a esta ciudad, y la quemarán con las casas en cuyos tejados han ofrecido incienso a Baal y han derramado libaciones a otros dioses, para provocarme a la ira.
30 For the children of Israel and of Judah have done nothing but evil in My sight from their youth; indeed, they have done nothing but provoke Me to anger by the work of their hands, declares the LORD.
“Porque los hijos de Israel y los hijos de Judá no han hecho más que lo malo ante mis ojos desde su juventud; porque los hijos de Israel no han hecho más que provocarme a la ira con la obra de sus manos, dice Yahvé.
31 For this city has aroused My wrath and fury from the day it was built until now. Therefore I will remove it from My presence
Porque esta ciudad ha sido para mí una provocación de mi ira y de mi enojo desde el día en que la construyeron hasta el día de hoy, para que la elimine de delante de mí,
32 because of all the evil the children of Israel and of Judah have done to provoke Me to anger—they, their kings, their officials, their priests and prophets, the men of Judah, and the residents of Jerusalem.
a causa de toda la maldad de los hijos de Israel y de los hijos de Judá, que han hecho para provocarme a la ira: ellos, sus reyes, sus príncipes, sus sacerdotes, sus profetas, los hombres de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén.
33 They have turned their backs to Me and not their faces. Though I taught them again and again, they would not listen or respond to discipline.
Me han dado la espalda y no el rostro. A pesar de que les enseñé, madrugando y enseñándoles, no han escuchado para recibir instrucción.
34 They have placed their abominations in the house that bears My Name, and so have defiled it.
Pero pusieron sus abominaciones en la casa que se llama con mi nombre, para profanarla.
35 They have built the high places of Baal in the Valley of Hinnom to make their sons and daughters pass through the fire to Molech—something I never commanded them, nor had it ever entered My mind, that they should commit such an abomination and cause Judah to sin.
Edificaron los lugares altos de Baal, que están en el valle del hijo de Hinom, para hacer pasar por el fuego a sus hijos y a sus hijas a Moloc, cosa que yo no les mandé. Ni siquiera se me ocurrió que hicieran esta abominación, para hacer pecar a Judá”.
36 Now therefore, about this city of which you say, ‘It will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword and famine and plague,’ this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:
Ahora bien, Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dice con respecto a esta ciudad, de la cual ustedes dicen: “Ha sido entregada en manos del rey de Babilonia por la espada, por el hambre y por la peste”:
37 I will surely gather My people from all the lands to which I have banished them in My furious anger and great wrath, and I will return them to this place and make them dwell in safety.
“He aquí que yo los reuniré de todas las tierras a las que los he expulsado con mi cólera, con mi ira y con gran indignación, y los haré volver a este lugar. Haré que habiten con seguridad.
38 They will be My people, and I will be their God.
Entonces serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios.
39 I will give them one heart and one way, so that they will always fear Me for their own good and for the good of their children after them.
Les daré un solo corazón y un solo camino, para que me teman para siempre, por su bien y el de sus hijos después de ellos.
40 I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never turn away from doing good to them, and I will put My fear in their hearts, so that they will never turn away from Me.
Haré un pacto eterno con ellos, que no me apartaré de seguirlos para hacerles el bien. Pondré mi temor en sus corazones, para que no se aparten de mí.
41 Yes, I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.
Sí, me alegraré por ellos para hacerles el bien, y los plantaré en esta tierra con seguridad, con todo mi corazón y con toda mi alma.”
42 For this is what the LORD says: Just as I have brought all this great disaster on this people, so I will bring on them all the good I have promised them.
Porque Yahvé dice: “Así como he traído todo este gran mal sobre este pueblo, así traeré sobre él todo el bien que le he prometido.
43 And fields will be bought in this land about which you are saying, ‘It is a desolation, without man or beast; it has been delivered into the hands of the Chaldeans.’
Se comprarán campos en esta tierra, de la que ustedes dicen: ‘Está desolada, sin hombres ni animales. Está entregada en manos de los caldeos’.
44 Fields will be purchased with silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed, and witnessed in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah—the cities of the hill country, the foothills, and the Negev—because I will restore them from captivity, declares the LORD.”
Los hombrescomprarán campos por dinero, firmarán las escrituras, las sellarán y llamarán a testigos, en la tierra de Benjamín y en los lugares que rodean a Jerusalén, en las ciudades de Judá, en las ciudades de la región montañosa, en las ciudades de la llanura y en las ciudades del sur; porque haré que su cautiverio sea revertido”, dice el Señor.
