Jeremiah 25
1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
Das Wort, welches an Jeremia über das ganze Volk Juda im vierten Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda - das ist das erste Jahr Nebukadrezars, des Königs von Babel, - erging,
2 So the prophet Jeremiah spoke to all the people of Judah and all the residents of Jerusalem as follows:
das der Prophet Jeremia zu dem ganzen Volke Juda und zu allen Bewohnern Jerusalems geredet hat, folgendermaßen:
3 “From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah until this very day—twenty-three years—the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you again and again, but you have not listened.
Vom dreizehnten Jahre Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda, bis auf diesen Tag - nunmehr dreiundzwanzig Jahre lang - ist das Wort Jahwes an mich ergangen, und habe ich unermüdlich zu euch geredet -, aber ihr habt nicht gehört.
4 And the LORD has sent all His servants the prophets to you again and again, but you have not listened or inclined your ear to hear.
Dazu hat Jahwe unermüdlich immer wieder alle seine Knechte, die Propheten, zu euch gesandt, aber ihr habt nicht gehört, noch neigtet ihr auch nur euer Ohr, um zu hören.
5 The prophets told you, ‘Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways and deeds, and you can dwell in the land that the LORD has given to you and your fathers forever and ever.
Ließ ich euch sagen: “Kehrt doch um ein jeder von seinem bösen Weg und von euren schlechten Thaten, so sollt ihr wohnen bleiben in dem Lande, das Jahwe euch und euren Vätern verliehen hat, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit!
6 Do not follow other gods to serve and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands. Then I will do you no harm.’
Lauft aber nicht andern Göttern nach, um ihnen zu dienen und euch vor ihnen niederzuwerfen, und reizt mich nicht durch eurer Hände Werk zum Zorne, daß ich euch nicht Unheil zufüge!”
7 ‘But to your own harm, you have not listened to Me,’ declares the LORD, ‘so you have provoked Me to anger with the works of your hands.’
so hörtet ihr doch nicht auf mich - ist der Spruch Jahwes -, gerade um mich durch eurer Hände Werk zum Zorne zu reizen, zu eurem eigenen Verderben.
8 Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Because you have not obeyed My words,
Darum spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen also: Weil ihr auf meine Worte nicht gehört habt,
9 behold, I will summon all the families of the north, declares the LORD, and I will send for My servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, whom I will bring against this land, against its residents, and against all the surrounding nations. So I will devote them to destruction and make them an object of horror and contempt, an everlasting desolation.
so will ich nun alle Völkerschaften des Nordens herbeiholen lassen - ist der Spruch Jahwes - und meinen Knecht Nebukadrezar, den König von Babel, und sie über dieses Land und über seine Bewohner und über alle diese Völker ringsum hereinbrechen lassen und will sie dem Banne preisgeben und zu einem Gegenstande des Entsetzens und Gezisches und ewiger Beschimpfung machen
10 Moreover, I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of the bride and bridegroom, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.
und will aus ihrer Mitte Wonnejubel und Freudenjubel, Bräutigamsjubel und Brautjubel, das Geräusch der Handmühlen und das Licht der Lampen austilgen.
11 And this whole land will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for seventy years.
Dieses ganze Land aber soll zur Wüstenei, zur Einöde werden, und es sollen diese Völker dem Könige von Babel dienstbar sein siebzig Jahre lang.
12 But when seventy years are complete, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their guilt, declares the LORD, and I will make it an everlasting desolation.
Nach Verlauf von vollen siebzig Jahren aber will ich am Könige von Babel und an jenem Volke - ist der Spruch Jahwes - ihre Missethat ahnden und an dem Lande der Chaldäer und will es für immer zu Einöden machen.
13 I will bring upon that land all the words I have pronounced against it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.
Und ich will an diesem Land alle meine Worte, die ich wider es geredet habe, in Erfüllung gehen lassen - alles in diesem Buche Niedergeschriebene, was Jeremia über alle Völker geweissagt hat:
14 For many nations and great kings will enslave them, and I will repay them according to their deeds and according to the work of their hands.’”
denn auch ihnen werden mächtige Völker und gewaltige Könige Knechtschaft auferlegen, und ich will ihnen vergelten nach ihrem Thun und nach dem, wie sie selbst gehandelt haben.
15 This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, said to me: “Take from My hand this cup of the wine of wrath, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink from it.
Denn also sprach Jahwe, der Gott Israels, zu mir: Nimm diesen Becher mit Wein aus meiner Hand und laß von ihm alle die Völker, zu denen ich dich senden werde, trinken,
16 And they will drink and stagger and go out of their minds, because of the sword that I will send among them.”
daß sie trinken und schwanken und wahnwitzig werden vor dem Schwerte, das ich mitten unter sie sende!
17 So I took the cup from the LORD’s hand and made all the nations drink from it, each one to whom the LORD had sent me,
Da nahm ich den Becher aus Jahwes Hand und ließ alle die Völker trinken, zu denen Jahwe mich gesandt hatte:
18 to make them a ruin, an object of horror and contempt and cursing, as they are to this day—Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and officials;
Jerusalem und die Städte Judas, ihre Könige und ihre Obersten, um sie zur Wüstenei, zu einem Gegenstande des Entsetzens, des Gezisches und des Fluchs zu machen, wie es heute der Fall ist;
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his leaders, and all his people;
den Pharao, den König von Ägypten, samt seinen Dienern und seinen obersten Beamten und seinem ganzen Volk
20 all the mixed tribes; all the kings of Uz; all the kings of the Philistines: Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;
und das ganze Ereb; ferner alle Könige des Landes Uz und alle Könige des Philisterlands, nämlich Askalon und Gaza und Ekron und den Überrest von Asdod;
21 Edom, Moab, and the Ammonites;
Edom und Moab und die Ammoniter;
22 all the kings of Tyre and Sidon; the kings of the coastlands across the sea;
dazu alle Könige von Tyrus und alle Könige von Sidon und die Könige der Küsten jenseits des Meers;
23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who cut the corners of their hair;
Dedan und Thema und Bus und alle mit abgestutztem Haarrand
24 all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed tribes who dwell in the desert;
und alle Könige Arabiens und alle Könige des Ereb, die in der Wüste wohnen;
25 all the kings of Zimri, Elam, and Media;
dazu alle Könige Simris und alle Könige Elams und alle Könige Mediens;
26 all the kings of the north, both near and far, one after another—all the kingdoms on the face of the earth. And after all of them, the king of Sheshach will drink it too.
dazu alle Könige des Nordens, wie sie einander nahe oder fern liegen, - kurz alle Königreiche auf dem Erdboden; der König von Sesach aber soll nach ihnen trinken!
27 “Then you are to tell them that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Drink, get drunk, and vomit. Fall down and never get up again, because of the sword I will send among you.’
Du sollst aber zu ihnen sprechen: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Trinkt, daß ihr trunken werdet und speit und hinfallt, ohne wieder aufzustehen, vor dem Schwerte, das ich mitten unter euch sende!
28 If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink it, you are to tell them that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘You most certainly must drink it!
Sollten sie sich aber weigern, den Becher aus deiner Hand zu nehmen, um zu trinken, so sage ihnen: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Ihr müßt trinken!
29 For behold, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears My Name, so how could you possibly go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the LORD of Hosts.’
Denn fürwahr, bei der Stadt, die nach meinem Namen genannt ist, will ich anheben, Unheil anzurichten, - und ihr wolltet leer ausgehen? Ihr sollt nicht leer ausgehen, denn ein Schwert rufe ich auf wider alle Bewohner der Erde! - ist der Spruch Jahwes der Heerscharen.
30 So you are to prophesy all these words against them and say to them: ‘The LORD will roar from on high; He will raise His voice from His holy habitation. He will roar loudly over His pasture; like those who tread the grapes, He will call out with a shout against all the inhabitants of the earth.
Du aber sollst ihnen alle diese Worte verkünden und zu ihnen sprechen: Jahwe - von der Höhe her brüllt er und von seinem heiligen Wohnsitze läßt er seine Stimme erschallen! Laut brüllt er über seine Aue dahin, stimmt ein Jauchzen an gleich Keltertretern wider alle Bewohner der Erde.
31 The tumult will resound to the ends of the earth because the LORD brings a charge against the nations. He brings judgment on all mankind and puts the wicked to the sword,’”
Bis ans Ende der Erde dringt das Getöse, denn hadern muß Jahwe mit den Völkern. Er geht ins Gericht mit allem Fleisch; die Frevler giebt er dem Schwerte preis! - ist der Spruch Jahwes.
32 This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Behold! Disaster is spreading from nation to nation; a mighty storm is rising from the ends of the earth.”
So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Fürwahr, Unheil geht aus von einem Volke zum andern, und ein gewaltiger Sturm erhebt sich vom äußersten Rande der Erde her;
33 Those slain by the LORD on that day will be spread from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be mourned, gathered, or buried. They will be like dung lying on the ground.
und die von Jahwe Erschlagenen werden jenes Tags daliegen von einem Ende der Erde bis zum andern. Man wird ihnen nicht die Totenklage halten, noch wird man sie einsammeln und sie begraben: als Mist auf dem Acker sollen sie dienen.
34 Wail, you shepherds, and cry out; roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. For the days of your slaughter have come; you will fall and be shattered like fine pottery.
Heult, ihr Hirten, und schreit, und wälzt euch im Staub umher, ihr Vornehmsten der Herde! Denn eure Zeit ist da, daß man euch schlachte, und die Zeit eurer Zerstreuung, und ihr sollt hinfallen gleich kostbarem Geschirr!
35 Flight will evade the shepherds, and escape will elude the leaders of the flock.
Da giebt's keine Zuflucht mehr für die Hirten, und kein Entrinnen für die Vornehmsten der Herde.
36 Hear the cry of the shepherds, the wailing of the leaders of the flock, for the LORD is destroying their pasture.
Horch! - das Geschrei der Hirten und das Geheul der Vornehmsten der Herde, weil Jahwe ihre Weide verwüstet,
37 The peaceful meadows have been silenced because of the LORD’s burning anger.
und die friedlichen Auen vor der Zornglut Jahwes vernichtet worden sind!
38 He has left His den like a lion, for their land has been made a desolation by the sword of the oppressor, and because of the fierce anger of the LORD.
Gleich einem Löwen hat er sein Dickicht verlassen; ja, zur Einöde ward ihr Land vor dem gewaltthätigen Schwert und vor seines Zornes Glut.
