Jeremiah 11
1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
Palabra que fue de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:
2 “Listen to the words of this covenant and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.
Oíd las palabras de este concierto, y hablád a todo varón de Judá, y a todo morador de Jerusalem;
3 You must tell them that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Cursed is the man who does not obey the words of this covenant,
Y decirles has: Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Maldito el varón que no obedeciere a las palabras de este concierto;
4 which I commanded your forefathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, ‘Obey Me, and do everything I command you, and you will be My people, and I will be your God.’
El cual mandé a vuestros padres el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, del horno de hierro, diciéndoles: Oíd mi voz, y hacédla, conforme a todo lo que os mandaré; y serme heis por pueblo, y yo seré a vosotros por Dios:
5 This was in order to establish the oath I swore to your forefathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is to this day.” “Amen, LORD,” I answered.
Para que confirme el juramento que juré a vuestros padres, que les daría la tierra que corre leche y miel, como este día. Y respondí, y dije: Amén, o! Jehová.
6 Then the LORD said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear the words of this covenant and carry them out.
Y Jehová me dijo: Pregona todas estas palabras en las ciudades de Judá, y en las calles de Jerusalem, diciendo: Oíd las palabras de este concierto, y hacédlas.
7 For from the time I brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt until today, I strongly warned them again and again, saying, ‘Obey My voice.’
Porque protestando protesté a vuestros padres el día que los hice subir de la tierra de Egipto, hasta el día de hoy, madrugando y protestando, diciendo: Oíd mi voz:
8 Yet they would not obey or incline their ears, but each one followed the stubbornness of his evil heart. So I brought on them all the curses of this covenant I had commanded them to follow but they did not keep.”
Y no oyeron, ni abajaron su oído, antes se fueron cada uno tras la imaginación de su corazón malvado: por tanto traeré sobre ellos todas las palabras de este concierto, el cual mandé que hiciesen, y no lo hicieron.
9 And the LORD told me, “There is a conspiracy among the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.
Y díjome Jehová: Conjuración se ha hallado en los varones de Judá, y en los moradores de Jerusalem.
10 They have returned to the sins of their forefathers who refused to obey My words. They have followed other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant I made with their fathers.
Vuéltose han a las maldades de sus primeros padres, los cuales no quisieron oír a mis palabras, antes se fueron tras dioses ajenos para servirles; invalidaron mi concierto la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá, el cual yo había concertado con sus padres.
11 Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to bring upon them a disaster that they cannot escape. They will cry out to Me, but I will not listen to them.
Por lo cual Jehová dijo así: He aquí que yo traigo sobre ellos mal, del cual no podrán salir; y clamarán a mí, y no los oiré.
12 Then the cities of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to which they have been burning incense, but these gods certainly will not save them in their time of disaster.
Irán pues las ciudades de Judá y los moradores de Jerusalem, y clamarán a los dioses a quienes ellos queman enciensos, los cuales no los podrán salvar en el tiempo de su mal.
13 Your gods are indeed as numerous as your cities, O Judah; the altars of shame you have set up—the altars to burn incense to Baal—are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.’
Porque al número de tus ciudades fueron tus dioses, o! Judá; y al número de tus calles, o! Jerusalem, pusistes los altares de confusión, altares para ofrecer sahumerios a Baal.
14 As for you, do not pray for these people. Do not raise up a cry or a prayer on their behalf, for I will not be listening when they call out to Me in their time of disaster.
Tú, pues, no ores por este pueblo, ni levantes por ellos clamor ni oración; porque yo no oiré el día que clamaren a mí por su aflicción.
15 What right has My beloved in My house, having carried out so many evil schemes? Can consecrated meat avert your doom, so that you can rejoice?
¿Qué tiene mi amado en mi casa, habiendo hecho abominaciones muchas? Y las carnes santas pasarán de sobre ti, porque te gloriaste en tu maldad.
16 The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree, beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a mighty roar He will set it on fire, and its branches will be consumed.
Oliva verde, hermosa en fruto y en parecer, llamó Jehová tu nombre: a voz de gran palabra hizo encender fuego sobre ella, y quebraron sus ramas.
17 The LORD of Hosts, who planted you, has decreed disaster against you on account of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have brought upon themselves, provoking Me to anger by burning incense to Baal.”
Y Jehová de los ejércitos, el que te planta, pronunció mal contra ti, a causa de la maldad de la casa de Israel y de la casa de Judá que hicieron a sí mismos, provocándome a ira, incensando a Baal.
18 And the LORD informed me, so I knew. Then You showed me their deeds.
Y Jehová me hizo saber, y conocí: entonces me hiciste ver sus obras.
19 For I was like a gentle lamb led to slaughter; I did not know that they had plotted against me: “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be remembered no more.”
Y yo como cordero, o buey que llevan a degollar, que no entendía que pensaban contra mí pensamientos, diciendo: Destruyamos el árbol con su fruto; y cortémoslo de la tierra de los vivos, y no haya más memoria de su nombre.
20 O LORD of Hosts, who judges righteously, who examines the heart and mind, let me see Your vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
Mas, o! Jehová de los ejércitos, que juzgas justicia, que sondas los riñones y el corazón, vea yo tu venganza de ellos; porque a ti he descubierto mi causa.
21 Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the people of Anathoth who are seeking your life and saying, “You must not prophesy in the name of the LORD, or you will die by our hand.”
Por tanto Jehová dijo así de los varones de Anatot, que buscan tu alma, diciendo: No profetices en nombre de Jehová, y no morirás a nuestras manos.
22 So this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters by famine.
Por tanto así dijo Jehová de los ejércitos: He aquí que yo los visito: los mancebos morirán a cuchillo: sus hijos y sus hijas morirán de hambre;
23 There will be no remnant, for I will bring disaster on the people of Anathoth in the year of their punishment.”
Y no quedará resta de ellos, porque yo traeré mal sobre los varones de Anatot, año de su visitación.
