< Isaiah 8 >

1 Then the LORD said to me, “Take a large scroll and write on it with an ordinary stylus: Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
Olúwa sọ fún mi pé, mú ìwé ńlá kan, kí o sì fi kálàmù ìkọ̀wé lásán kọ Maha-Ṣalali-Haṣi-Basi.
2 And I will appoint for Myself trustworthy witnesses—Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jeberekiah.”
Èmi yóò sì mú Uriah àlùfáà àti Sekariah ọmọ Jeberekiah gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹlẹ́rìí òtítọ́ wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ mi.
3 And I had relations with the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. The LORD said to me, “Name him Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
Lẹ́yìn náà, mo lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ wòlíì obìnrin náà, ó sì lóyún, ó sì bí ọmọkùnrin kan. Olúwa sì wí fún mi pé, “Pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Maha-Ṣalali-Haṣi-Basi.
4 For before the boy knows how to cry ‘Father’ or ‘Mother,’ the wealth of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried off by the king of Assyria.”
Kí ọmọkùnrin náà tó mọ bí a ti ń sọ pé, ‘Baba mi’ tàbí ‘Ìyá mi,’ gbogbo ọrọ̀ Damasku àti ìkógun ti Samaria ni ọba àwọn Asiria yóò ti kó lọ.”
5 And the LORD spoke to me further:
Olúwa sì tún sọ fún mi pé,
6 “Because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoiced in Rezin and the son of Remaliah,
“Nítorí pé àwọn ènìyàn yìí ti kọ omi Ṣiloa tí ń sàn jẹ́ẹ́jẹ́ sílẹ̀ tí wọ́n sì ń yọ̀ nínú Resini àti ọmọ Remaliah,
7 the Lord will surely bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates — the king of Assyria and all his pomp. It will overflow its channels and overrun its banks.
ǹjẹ́ nítorí náà kíyèsi i, Olúwa ń fa omi odò tí ó le, tí ó sì pọ̀ wá sórí wọn, àní, ọba Asiria àti gbogbo ògo rẹ̀, yóò sì wá sórí gbogbo ọ̀nà odò rẹ̀, yóò sì gun orí gbogbo bèbè rẹ̀,
8 It will pour into Judah, swirling and sweeping over it, reaching up to the neck; its spreading streams will cover your entire land, O Immanuel!
yóò sì gbá àárín Juda kọjá, yóò sì ṣàn bò ó mọ́lẹ̀, yóò sì mú un dọ́rùn. Nínà ìyẹ́ apá rẹ̀ yóò sì bo gbogbo ìbú ilẹ̀ rẹ̀, ìwọ Emmanueli.”
9 Huddle together, O peoples, and be shattered; pay attention, all you distant lands; prepare for battle, and be shattered; prepare for battle, and be shattered!
Ké ariwo ogun, ẹ̀yin orílẹ̀-èdè, kí a sì fọ́ ọ yín túútúú, fetísílẹ̀, ẹ̀yin ilẹ̀ jíjìn réré. Ẹ palẹ̀mọ́ fún ogun, kí a sì fọ́ ọ túútúú!
10 Devise a plan, but it will be thwarted; state a proposal, but it will not happen. For God is with us.”
Ẹ gbìmọ̀ pọ̀, yóò sì di asán, ẹ gbèrò ọ̀rọ̀ náà, ṣùgbọ́n kì yóò dúró, nítorí Ọlọ́run wà pẹ̀lú wa.
11 For this is what the LORD has spoken to me with a strong hand, instructing me not to walk in the way of this people:
Olúwa bá mi sọ̀rọ̀ pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ agbára rẹ̀ o ìkìlọ̀ fún mi pé, èmi kò gbọdọ̀ tẹ̀lé ọ̀nà àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí. Ó wí pé,
12 “Do not call conspiracy everything these people regard as conspiracy. Do not fear what they fear; do not live in dread.
“Má ṣe pe èyí ní ọ̀tẹ̀ gbogbo ohun tí àwọn ènìyàn yìí pè ní ọ̀tẹ̀, má ṣe bẹ̀rù ohun tí wọ́n bá bẹ̀rù, má sì ṣe fòyà rẹ̀.
13 The LORD of Hosts is the One you shall regard as holy. Only He should be feared; only He should be dreaded.
Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun ni Ẹni tí ìwọ yóò kà sí mímọ́, Òun ni kí o bẹ̀rù Òun ni kí àyà rẹ̀ fò ọ́,
14 And He will be a sanctuary— but to both houses of Israel a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, to the dwellers of Jerusalem a trap and a snare.
Òun yóò sì jẹ́ ibi mímọ́ ṣùgbọ́n fún ilé Israẹli méjèèjì ni yóò jẹ́, òkúta tí í mú ni kọsẹ̀ àti àpáta tí ó mú wọn ṣubú àti fún àwọn ènìyàn Jerusalẹmu ni yóò jẹ́ tàkúté àti ìdẹ̀kùn.
15 Many will stumble over these; they will fall and be broken; they will be ensnared and captured.”
Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ wọn ni yóò kọsẹ̀, wọn yóò ṣubú wọn yóò sì fọ́ yángá, okùn yóò mú wọn, ọwọ́ yóò sì tẹ̀ wọ́n.”
16 Bind up the testimony and seal the law among my disciples.
Di májẹ̀mú náà kí o sì fi èdìdì di òfin náà láàrín àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mi.
17 I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in Him.
Èmi yóò dúró de Olúwa, ẹni tí ó ń fi ojú rẹ̀ pamọ́ fún ilé Jakọbu. Mo fi ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé mi sínú rẹ.
18 Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me as signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD of Hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.
Èmi nìyí, àti àwọn ọmọ tí Olúwa fi fún mi. Àwa jẹ́ àmì àti àpẹẹrẹ ní Israẹli láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun, ẹni tí ó ń gbé ní òkè Sioni.
19 When men tell you to consult the spirits of the dead and the spiritists who whisper and mutter, shouldn’t a people consult their God instead? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
Nígbà tí àwọn ènìyàn bá sọ fún un yín pé kí ẹ lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn abókùúsọ̀rọ̀ àti àwọn oṣó, ti máa ń kún tí wọ́n sì ń sọ̀rọ̀ kẹ́lẹ́kẹ́lẹ́, ǹjẹ́ kò ha yẹ kí àwọn ènìyàn béèrè lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run wọn bí? Èéṣe tí ẹ fi ń bá òkú sọ̀rọ̀ ní orúkọ alààyè?
20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.
Sí òfin àti májẹ̀mú! Bí wọn kò bá sọ̀rọ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ yìí, wọn kò rí ìmọ́lẹ̀ ọjọ́.
21 They will roam the land, dejected and hungry. When they are famished, they will become enraged; and looking upward, they will curse their king and their God.
Nínú ìnilára àti ebi, ni wọn yóò máa kọjá lọ láàrín ilẹ̀ náà, nígbà tí ebi bá pa wọ́n, nígbà yìí ni wọn yóò máa kanra, wọn yóò wòkè, wọn yóò sì fi ọba àti Ọlọ́run wọn ré.
22 Then they will look to the earth and see only distress and darkness and the gloom of anguish. And they will be driven into utter darkness.
Nígbà náà ni wọn yóò sì wolẹ̀, wọn yóò sì rí ìpọ́njú, òkùnkùn àti ìpòrúru tí ó ba ni lẹ́rù, a ó sì sọ wọ́n sínú òkùnkùn biribiri.
