Hosea 8
1 Put the ram’s horn to your lips! An eagle looms over the house of the LORD, because the people have transgressed My covenant and rebelled against My law.
Setze die Posaune an deinen Mund! Es kommt etwas wie ein Adler wider das Haus des HERRN! Warum haben sie meinen Bund übertreten und sich gegen mein Gesetz vergangen?
2 Israel cries out to Me, “O our God, we know You!”
Zu mir werden sie schreien: Du bist mein Gott; wir Israeliten kennen dich!
3 But Israel has rejected good; an enemy will pursue him.
Israel hat das Gute von sich gestoßen; jetzt soll es der Feind verfolgen!
4 They set up kings, but not by Me. They make princes, but without My approval. With their silver and gold they make themselves idols, to their own destruction.
Sie haben Könige eingesetzt ohne meinen Willen, Fürsten, ohne daß ich es wußte; aus ihrem Silber und Gold haben sie sich Götzen gemacht, zu dem Zwecke, daß sie sich selbst zu Grunde richteten.
5 He has rejected your calf, O Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence?
Dein Kalb ist mir verhaßt, Samaria! Mein Zorn ist entbrannt über sie! Wie lange noch können sie Straflosigkeit nicht ertragen?
6 For this thing is from Israel— a craftsman made it, and it is not God. It will be broken to pieces, that calf of Samaria.
Denn aus Israel stammt es, und ein Künstler hat es gemacht; es ist kein Gott, sondern zu Splittern soll es zerschlagen werden, das Kalb von Samaria!
7 For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. There is no standing grain; what sprouts fails to yield flour. Even if it should produce, the foreigners would swallow it up.
Denn Wind säen sie, und Sturm werden sie ernten; da wächst kein Halm; das Gewächs ergibt kein Mehl; und sollte es etwas geben, so würden Fremde es verschlingen.
8 Israel is swallowed up! Now they are among the nations like a worthless vessel.
Verschlungen wird Israel! Schon sind sie unter den Heiden geworden wie ein Gefäß, an welchem man kein Wohlgefallen hat!
9 For they have gone up to Assyria like a wild donkey on its own. Ephraim has hired lovers.
Denn sie sind nach Assur gegangen, (ein Wildesel, der für sich lebt, ist Ephraim!) sie haben sich Liebhaber gedungen.
10 Though they hire allies among the nations, I will now round them up, and they will begin to diminish under the oppression of the king of princes.
Weil sie sich denn Völker dingen, so will ich dieselben jetzt auch haufenweise herbeibringen, und bald werden sie zu leiden haben unter der Last des Königs der Fürsten.
11 Though Ephraim multiplied the altars for sin, they became his altars for sinning.
Weil Ephraim viele Altäre baute, um zu sündigen, so sind ihm die Altäre auch zur Sünde geworden.
12 Though I wrote for them the great things of My law, they regarded them as something strange.
Schreibe ich ihm mein Gesetz zehntausendmal vor, so erachten sie es doch als etwas Unbekanntes!
13 Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to Me, and though they eat the meat, the LORD does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins: They will return to Egypt.
Die Schlachtopfer, die sie mir schenken, bringen sie dar wie [gewöhnliches] Fleisch und essen es. Der HERR hat kein Wohlgefallen an ihnen. Jetzt wird er ihrer Schuld gedenken und ihre Sünden strafen; sie sollen nach Ägypten zurückkehren!
14 Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; Judah has multiplied its fortified cities. But I will send fire upon their cities, and it will consume their citadels.
Weil Israel seinen Schöpfer vergessen und sich Paläste erbaut, und weil Juda viele Städte befestigt hat, so will ich Feuer in seine Städte senden, das seine Gebäude verzehren soll.
