< Hebrews 5 >

1 Every high priest is appointed from among men to represent them in matters relating to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
ⲁ̅ⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩϫⲓ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉϣⲁⲩⲕⲁⲑⲓⲥⲧⲁ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉϫⲛ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲧⲁⲗⲉ ⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲓ ⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁ ϩⲁ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ
2 He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and misguided, since he himself is beset by weakness.
ⲃ̅ⲉⲩⲛϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉϣⲡϩⲓⲥⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲟ ⲛⲁⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲡⲗⲁⲛⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲱⲱϥ ϫⲉ ϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧϭⲱⲃ
3 That is why he is obligated to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.
ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧⲥ ϣϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉϣⲁϥⲧⲁⲗⲟ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲁ ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲛϥⲧⲁⲗⲟ ϩⲱⲱϥ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲉⲓϩⲉ ϩⲁ ⲛⲉϥⲛⲟⲃⲉ
4 No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was.
ⲇ̅ⲛⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲧⲁⲉⲓⲟ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲛⲁⲁⲣⲱⲛ
5 So also Christ did not take upon Himself the glory of becoming a high priest, but He was called by the One who said to Him: “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.”
ⲉ̅ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲛⲧⲁϥϯ ⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲟⲩⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲁⲓϫⲡⲟⲕ ⲙⲡⲟⲟⲩ
6 And in another passage God says: “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” (aiōn g165)
ⲋ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉϣⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲛ ⲕⲉⲙⲁ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲏⲏⲃ ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲧⲧⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲙⲙⲉⲗⲭⲓⲥⲉⲇⲉⲕ (aiōn g165)
7 During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲁϥϫⲓⲥⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲥⲟⲡⲥ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲕⲱⲣϣ ⲛⲛⲁϩⲣⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲟⲩⲛϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲟⲩϫⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲟⲩ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲣⲙⲉⲓⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧϩⲟⲧⲉ
8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered.
ⲏ̅ⲕⲁⲓⲡⲉⲣ ⲉⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲥⲃⲱ ⲉⲡⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϣⲟⲡⲟⲩ
9 And having been made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him (aiōnios g166)
ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲁϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲛⲁⲓⲧⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲛϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ (aiōnios g166)
10 and was designated by God as high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
ⲓ̅ⲉⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲧⲧⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲙⲙⲉⲗⲭⲓⲥⲉⲇⲉⲕ
11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain, because you are dull of hearing.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲟϣ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲉϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲙⲟⲕϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗϥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲟⲟⲛⲉ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲙⲁⲁϫⲉ
12 Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to reteach you the basic principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food!
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲕⲁⲓⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϣϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲣⲥⲁϩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲟⲛ ⲛϯ ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲧⲟⲓⲭⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⲛⲛϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲥϫⲟⲟⲣ
13 For everyone who lives on milk is still an infant, inexperienced in the message of righteousness.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲙⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ
14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲧⲁ ⲛⲓⲧⲉⲗⲓⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉϩⲣⲉ ⲉⲧϫⲟⲟⲣ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲑⲉⲝⲓⲥ ⲉⲩⲛⲧⲁⲩ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲁⲓⲥⲑⲏⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲉⲩⲅⲩⲙⲛⲁⲍⲉ ⲉⲇⲓⲁⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲧⲙⲏ ⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ
