Hebrews 2
1 We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
૧તેથી જે વાતો આપણા સાંભળવામાં આવી તેનાથી આપણે કદી દૂર જઈએ નહિ, તે માટે તેના પર આપણે વધારે કાળજીપૂર્વક ધ્યાન રાખવું જોઈએ.
2 For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every transgression and disobedience received its just punishment,
૨કેમ કે જો સ્વર્ગદૂતો દ્વારા કહેલું વચન સત્ય ઠર્યું અને દરેક પાપ તથા આજ્ઞાભંગ કરનારાઓને યોગ્ય બદલો મળ્યો,
3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
૩તો આપણે આ મહાન ઉદ્ધાર વિષે બેદરકાર રહીએ તો શી રીતે બચીશું? તે ઉદ્ધારની વાત પહેલાં ઈશ્વરે પોતે કહી, પછી સાંભળનારાઓએ તેની ખાતરી અમને કરી આપી.
4 and was affirmed by God through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.
૪ઈશ્વર પણ ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્નોથી, આશ્ચર્યકર્મોથી, વિવિધ પરાક્રમી કામોથી તથા પવિત્ર આત્માએ પોતાની ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે આપેલાં દાનથી તેઓની સાથે સાક્ષી આપતા રહ્યાં છે.
5 For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.
૫કેમ કે જે આગામી યુગ સંબંધી અમે તમને કહીએ છીએ તેનું નિયંત્રણ તેમણે સ્વર્ગદૂતોને આધીન કર્યું નથી.
6 But somewhere it is testified in these words: “What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?
૬પણ ગીતકર્તા દાઉદ જણાવે છે કે, ‘માણસ વળી કોણ છે, કે તમે તેનું સ્મરણ કરો છો? અથવા મનુષ્યપુત્ર કોણ છે કે તમે તેની મુલાકાત લો છો?
7 You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor
૭તેમણે તેને થોડા સમય માટે સ્વર્ગદૂતો કરતાં ઊતરતો કર્યો છે; અને તેના મસ્તક પર મહિમા તથા માનનો મુગટ મૂક્યો છે. તમારા હાથનાં કામ પર તેને અધિકાર આપ્યો છે.
8 and placed everything under his feet.” When God subjected all things to him, He left nothing outside of his control. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him.
૮તમે સમગ્ર સૃષ્ટિ તેના હાથમાં સોંપી છે; આમ બધું તેને સ્વાધીન કરવાથી તેને સુપ્રત કર્યું ના હોય એવું કંઈ બાકાત રાખ્યું નથી. પણ સઘળું તેને સ્વાધીન કર્યું, એમ હજી સુધી આપણી નજરે પડતું નથી.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
૯પણ ઈશ્વરની કૃપાથી સઘળાં માણસને માટે મૃત્યુ પામવાને અર્થે જેમને સ્વર્ગદૂતો કરતાં થોડીવાર સુધી ઊતરતા કરવામાં આવ્યા છે, અને મરણ સહેવાને લીધે જેમનાં પર મહિમા તથા ગૌરવનો મુગટ મૂકવામાં આવ્યો, તે ઈસુને જોઈએ છીએ.
10 In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.
૧૦કેમ કે જેમને માટે બધું છે, તથા જેમનાંથી સઘળાં ઉત્પન્ન થયાં છે, તેમને એ યોગ્ય હતું કે, તે ઘણાં દીકરાઓને મહિમામાં લાવતાં તેઓના ઉદ્ધારના અધિકારીને દુઃખ ભોગવવાથી પરિપૂર્ણ કરે.
11 For both the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.
૧૧કેમ કે જે પવિત્ર કરે છે અને જે પવિત્ર કરાય છે, તે સઘળાં એકથી જ છે, એ માટે તે તેઓને ભાઈઓ કહેવાને શરમાતા નથી.
12 He says: “I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing Your praises in the assembly.”
૧૨તે કહે છે કે, “હું તમારું નામ ભાઈઓને પ્રગટ કરીશ, વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયમાં ગીત ગાતાં હું તમારી સ્તુતિ કરીશ.
13 And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And once again: “Here am I, and the children God has given Me.”
૧૩હું તેમના પર ભરોસો રાખીશ; વળી, જુઓ, હું તથા જે બાળકો ઈશ્વરે મને આપ્યાં છે તેઓ ભરોસો કરીશું.”
14 Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil,
૧૪જેથી બાળકો માંસ તથા લોહીનાં બનેલાં હોય છે, માટે તે પણ તે જ રીતે તેઓના ભાગીદાર થયા, જેથી તે પોતે મરણ પામીને મરણ પર સત્તા ધરાવનારનો, એટલે શેતાનનો, નાશ કરે.
15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
૧૫અને મરણની બીકથી જે પોતાના આખા જીવનભર ગુલામ જેવા હતા તેઓને પણ મુક્ત કરે.
16 For surely it is not the angels He helps, but the descendants of Abraham.
૧૬કેમ કે નિશ્ચે તે સ્વર્ગદૂતોની સહાય નથી કરતા, પણ ઇબ્રાહિમનાં સંતાનની સહાય કરે છે.
17 For this reason He had to be made like His brothers in every way, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people.
૧૭એ માટે તેમને બધી બાબતોમાં પોતાના ભાઈઓના જેવા થવું જોઈતું હતું, કે લોકોનાં પાપો માટે પ્રાયશ્ચિત કરવાને ઈશ્વરને લગતી બાબતો સંબંધી તેઓ દયાળુ તથા વિશ્વાસુ પ્રમુખ યાજક થાય.
18 Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.
૧૮કેમ કે તેમનું પરીક્ષણ થવાથી તેમણે એટલા માટે દુઃખ સહન કર્યું કે જેઓનું પરીક્ષણ થાય છે, તેઓને સહાય કરવાને તે સર્વશક્તિમાન છે.
