< Haggai 2 >

1 On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
Ní ọjọ́ kọkànlélógún oṣù keje, ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa wá nípasẹ̀ wòlíì Hagai wí pé,
2 “Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
“Sọ fún Serubbabeli ọmọ Ṣealitieli, baálẹ̀ Juda, àti Joṣua ọmọ Josadaki, olórí àlùfáà àti àwọn ènìyàn yòókù. Béèrè lọ́wọ́ wọn pé,
3 ‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
‘Ta ni nínú yín tí ó kù tí ó sì ti rí ilé yìí ní ògo rẹ̀ àkọ́kọ́? Báwo ni ó ṣe ri sí yín nísinsin yìí? Ǹjẹ́ kò dàbí asán lójú yín?
4 But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, múra gírí, ìwọ Serubbabeli,’ ni Olúwa wí. ‘Múra gírí, ìwọ Joṣua ọmọ Josadaki, olórí àlùfáà. Ẹ sì múra gírí gbogbo ẹ̀yin ènìyàn ilẹ̀ náà,’ ni Olúwa wí, ‘kí ẹ sì ṣiṣẹ́. Nítorí èmi wà pẹ̀lú yín,’ ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
5 This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
‘Èyí ni ohun tí Èmi fi bá a yín dá májẹ̀mú nígbà tí ẹ jáde kúrò ní Ejibiti, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Ẹ̀mí ì mi sì wà pẹ̀lú yín. Ẹ má ṣe bẹ̀rù.’
6 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
“Báyìí ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí pé, ‘Láìpẹ́ jọjọ, Èmi yóò mi àwọn ọrun àti ayé, Òkun àti ìyàngbẹ ilẹ̀ lẹ́ẹ̀kan sí i.
7 I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
Èmi yóò mi gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè, ìfẹ́ gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè yóò fà sí tẹmpili yìí, Èmi yóò sì kún ilé yìí pẹ̀lú ògo,’ ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
8 The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
‘Tèmi ni fàdákà àti wúrà,’ ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.
9 The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
‘Ògo ìkẹyìn ilé yìí yóò pọ̀ ju ti ìṣáájú lọ,’ ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí, ‘Àti ní ìhín yìí ni Èmi ó sì fi àlàáfíà fún ni,’ ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.”
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
Ní ọjọ́ kẹrìnlélógún oṣù kẹsànán ní ọdún kejì Dariusi, ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ wòlíì Hagai wá pé,
11 “This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
“Báyìí ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí, ‘Béèrè lọ́wọ́ àwọn àlùfáà ohun tí òfin wí pé:
12 If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
Bí ẹnìkan bá gbé ẹran mímọ́ ní ìṣẹ́tí aṣọ rẹ̀, tí ìṣẹ́tí aṣọ rẹ̀ kan àkàrà tàbí ọbẹ̀, wáìnì, òróró tàbí oúnjẹ mìíràn, ǹjẹ́ yóò ha jẹ́ mímọ́ bí?’” Àwọn àlùfáà sì dáhùn wí pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́.”
13 So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
Nígbà náà ni Hagai wí pé, “Bí ẹnìkan tí ó jẹ́ aláìmọ́ nípa fífi ara kan òkú bá fi ara kan ọ̀kan lára nǹkan wọ̀nyí, ǹjẹ́ yóò ha jẹ́ aláìmọ́?” Àwọn àlùfáà sì dáhùn wí pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, yóò jẹ́ aláìmọ́.”
14 Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
Nígbà náà ni Hagai dáhùn ó sì wí pé, “‘Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ènìyàn wọ̀nyí rí, bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni orílẹ̀-èdè yìí rí níwájú mi,’ ni Olúwa wí. ‘Bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni olúkúlùkù iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ wọn; èyí tí wọ́n sì fi rú ẹbọ níbẹ̀ jẹ́ aláìmọ́.
15 Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
“‘Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, ẹ ro èyí dáradára láti òní yìí lọ, ẹ kíyèsi bí nǹkan ṣe rí tẹ́lẹ̀, a to òkúta kan lé orí èkejì ní tẹmpili Olúwa.
16 from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
Nígbà tí ẹnikẹ́ni bá dé ibi òkìtì òsùwọ̀n ogun, mẹ́wàá péré ni yóò ba níbẹ̀. Nígbà tí ẹnikẹ́ni bá dé ibi ìfúntí wáìnì láti wọn àádọ́ta ìwọ̀n, ogún péré ni yóò ba níbẹ̀.
17 I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
Mo fi ìrẹ̀dànù, ìmúwòdù àti yìnyín bá gbogbo iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ yín jẹ; síbẹ̀ ẹ̀yin kò yípadà sí ọ̀dọ̀ mi,’ ni Olúwa wí.
18 Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
‘Láti òní lọ, láti ọjọ́ kẹrìnlélógún oṣù kẹsànán yìí kí ẹ kíyèsi, kí ẹ sì rò ó dáradára, ọjọ́ ti a fi ìpìlẹ̀ tẹmpili Olúwa lélẹ̀, rò ó dáradára.
19 Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
Ǹjẹ́ èso ha wà nínú abà bí? Títí di àkókò yìí, àjàrà àti igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ àti pomegiranate, àti igi olifi kò ì tí ì so èso kankan. “‘Láti òní lọ ni èmi yóò bùkún fún un yin.’”
20 For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sì tún tọ Hagai wá nígbà kejì, ní ọjọ́ kẹrìnlélógún oṣù náà pé,
21 “Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
“Sọ fún Serubbabeli baálẹ̀ Juda pé èmi yóò mi àwọn ọ̀run àti ayé.
22 I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
Èmi yóò bi ìtẹ́ àwọn ìjọba ṣubú, Èmi yóò sì pa agbára àwọn aláìkọlà run, Èmi yóò sì dojú àwọn kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun dé, àti àwọn tí ń gùn wọ́n; ẹṣin àti àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣin yóò ṣubú; olúkúlùkù nípa idà arákùnrin rẹ̀.”
23 On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí pé, “Ní ọjọ́ náà, ìwọ ìránṣẹ́ mi Serubbabeli ọmọ Ṣealitieli, Èmi yóò mú ọ, Èmi yóò sì sọ ọ di bí òrùka èdìdì mi, nítorí mo ti yan ọ, ni Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí.”
