< Haggai 2 >

1 On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
nʼụbọchị nke iri abụọ na otu, nʼọnwa nke asaa, okwu Onyenwe anyị si nʼọnụ onye amụma Hegai bịakwa na-asị:
2 “Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
“Gwa Zerubabel nwa Shealtiel, onye na-achị Juda, na Joshua nwa Jehozadak, onyeisi nchụaja, na ndị Izrel ahụ fọdụrụ nʼala ahụ sị:
3 ‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
‘Onye nʼime unu nwere ike icheta otu ụlọnsọ ukwu nke mbụ si dị ebube? Ọ dị aṅaa nʼanya unu ugbu a? Ọ bụ na ọ dịghị unu ka ihe efu ugbu a.
4 But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
Ma ugbu a nwee obi ike Zerubabel,’ ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru. ‘Nwekwaa obi ike gị Joshua onyeisi nchụaja, nwa Jehozadak. Nwekwaanụ obi ike unu ndị niile bi nʼala a.’ Ka Onyenwe anyị kwuru. ‘Rụọnụ ọrụ nʼihi na anọnyeere m unu,’ ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile na-ekwu.
5 This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
‘Nke a bụ ihe merenụ mgbe mụ na unu gbara ndụ nʼoge ahụ unu si nʼIjipt pụta. Mmụọ m na-anọgidekwa nʼetiti unu. Unu atụla egwu.’
6 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
“Nʼihi na ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwuru, ‘Ọ fọdụrụ otu ugbo, nwa oge nta gasịa, aga m ayọgharị eluigwe na ụwa, na osimiri na ala akọrọ.
7 I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
Aga m ayọgharịkwa mba niile; ihe mba niile na-achọsi ike ga-abịa. Aga m eme ka ụlọ a jupụta nʼebube,’ ọ bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwuru.
8 The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
‘Ọlaọcha niile na ọlaedo niile, bụ nke m.’ Ọ bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwupụtara.
9 The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
‘Ebube nke ụlọ a ga-adị ukwuu karịa ebube nke mbụ,’ ọ bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwuru. ‘Ọ bụkwa nʼebe a ka m ga-enye ọganihu na udo,’ otu a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwubiri ya.”
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
Nʼụbọchị nke iri abụọ na anọ, nʼọnwa itoolu, nke afọ abụọ, nke ọchịchị eze Daraiọs, okwu Onyenwe anyị bịakwutere onye amụma, bụ Hegai.
11 “This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
“Ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwuru, ‘Jụọ ndị nchụaja ihe iwu na-ekwu.
12 If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ etinye anụ e doro nsọ nʼakpa uwe ya, ọ bụrụkwa na uwe ahụ anụ nsọ ahụ dị nʼime ya emetụ achịcha, maọbụ ofe, maọbụ nri ọzọ dị iche, mmetụ uwe ahụ metụrụ ha ọ ga-eme ka ha dịrị nsọ?’” Ndị nchụaja zara sị: “Mba!”
13 So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
Mgbe ahụ Hegai kwukwara, “Ọ bụrụ na mmadụ emerụọ onwe ya site nʼimetụ onye nwụrụ anwụ aka, mesịa metụ otu nʼime ihe ndị a aka, ọ ga-abụ ihe rụrụ arụ?” Ndị nchụaja zara sị, “E, ọ ga-abụ ihe rụrụ arụ.”
14 Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
Mgbe ahụ Hegai kwuru sị, “‘Otu a ka mba a na ndị bi nʼime ya dị nʼihu m. Ihe ọbụla aka ha rụpụtara na onyinye ọbụla ha nyere bụ ihe rụrụ arụ.’ Ọ bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị kwuru.
15 Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
“‘Ma ugbu a, chezienụ echiche banyere ihe ndị ga-emenụ site taa gaa nʼihu. Tuleenụ otu ihe si dị tupu adọnye otu nkume nʼelu ibe ya nʼụlọnsọ ukwu nke Onyenwe anyị.
16 from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
Kedụ ọnọdụ unu? Mgbe mmadụ bịara nʼebe o debere ọtụtụ iri efere ọka abụọ, ihe ọ na-ahụ bụ naanị ọtụtụ efere ọka iri. Ọ bụrụkwa na ọ bịa nʼebe ịnara mmanya ka o were iri ite mmanya ise, ọ bụ naanị iri ite mmanya abụọ ka ọ ga-enweta.
17 I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
Eji m ọrịa na-eripịa ihe ubi, na ọmụma ebu, na mkpụrụ mmiri igwe bibie ọrụ aka unu niile; ma unu alọghachikwuteghị m,’ ọ bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị kwupụtara.
18 Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
‘Ma site nʼụbọchị taa gaa nʼihu, site nʼụbọchị taa bụ iri ụbọchị anọ nke ọnwa itoolu, chenụ echiche banyere ụbọchị a bụ ụbọchị a tọrọ ntọala ụlọnsọ ukwu Onyenwe anyị. Chezienụ echiche banyere ya.
19 Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
Ọ ka nwere mkpụrụ ọghịgha unu nwere nʼọba unu? Ọzọkwa, osisi vaịnị, osisi fiig, osisi pomegranet na osisi oliv amịghị mkpụrụ, ruo ugbu a. “‘Ma site nʼụbọchị taa gaa nʼihu aga m agọzi unu.’”
20 For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
Okwu Onyenwe anyị bịakwutere Hegai nke ugboro abụọ, nʼụbọchị nke iri abụọ na anọ nke ọnwa ahụ, sị,
21 “Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
“Gwa Zerubabel, onye na-achị Juda sị ana m aga ịyọgharị eluigwe na ụwa.
22 I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
Aga m akwatu ocheeze alaeze dị iche iche, ana m agakwa imebi ike alaeze nke mba dị iche iche. Aga m akwatu ụgbọ ịnyịnya nʼala na ndị na-anya ha; ịnyịnya na ndị na-agba ha ga-adakwa. Onye ọbụla ga-adakwa site na mma agha nke onye otu ya.
23 On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
“‘Nʼụbọchị ahụ,’ ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile na-ekwu, ‘Aga m ewere gị bụ onyeozi m Zerubabel nwa Shealtiel,’ ọ bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị kwuru, ‘mee gị ka ị dị ka mgbaaka akara m, nʼihi na ahọrọla m gị,’ Ọ bụ Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile na-ekwu.”
