< Haggai 2 >

1 On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
Tarik piero ariyo gachiel e dwe mar abiriyo, wach Jehova Nyasaye nobiro kokalo kuom janabi Hagai kawacho niya:
2 “Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
“Wuo kod Zerubabel wuod Shealtiel, ma en jatend Juda kaachiel gi Joshua wuod Jehozadak ma jadolo maduongʼ kod joma notony moa e twech. Penjgi niya,
3 ‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
‘En ngʼa modongʼ e dieru mane oneno hekaluni kapod nigi duongʼne machon? Koro sani to uneno kochal nade? Donge ochalonu mana ka gima nono?’
4 But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
Jehova Nyasaye wacho ni, ‘Bed motegno, yaye Zerubabel. Bed motegno, yaye Joshua wuod Jehozadak, ma jadolo maduongʼ.’ Jehova Nyasaye medo wacho ni, ‘Beduru motegno, un ji duto modak e pinyni kendo tiuru matek nimar an kodu,’ Jehova Nyasaye Maratego owacho.
5 This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
‘Ma e gima ne asingorae kodu kane uwuok e piny Misri. Kendo Roho mara nikodu kinde duto. Kik ubed maluor.’
6 For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
“Ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho, ‘Pod odongʼ mana kinde matin, abiro chako yiengo kendo polo kod piny, gi nam, kaachiel gi piny motwo;
7 I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
bende abiro yiengo ogendini duto, ma ginikel mwandugi duto, kendo abiro pongʼo hekaluni gi duongʼ.’ An Jehova Nyasaye Maratego ema awacho kamano.
8 The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
‘Fedha gi dhahabu gin maga,’ Jehova Nyasaye Maratego owacho.
9 The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
‘Duongʼ ma hekaluni biro bedogo achien, biro loyo mano mane en godo mokwongo,’ Jehova Nyasaye Maratego owacho. ‘Anakel kwe gi mwandu kae,’ Jehova Nyasaye Maratego owacho.”
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
Kane ochopo tarik piero ariyo gangʼwen e higa mar ariyo mar loch Darius, wach Jehova Nyasaye nobiro gi dwond janabi Hagai kawacho niya:
11 “This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
“Jehova Nyasaye Maratego wacho ni, ‘Penj jodolo mondo odwoki gima chik wacho:
12 If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
Ka ngʼato oketo ringʼo mowal ni Nyasaye e riak nangane, ma riak nanganeno ogere kuom makati, kata kuom kado, kata kuom divai, kata kuom mo, kata ei chiemo moro amora, to koro gima ogere kuomeno bende inyalo walo ni tich Nyasaye?’” Jodolo nodwoko niya, “Mano ok kamano.”
13 So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
Eka Hagai nowacho niya, “Ka ngʼato omulo ringre ngʼat motho, makoro obedo mogak, eka bangʼe ngʼatni ogere kuom gimoro, koro gino bende bedo mogak?” Jodolo nodwoke niya, “Obedo mogak.”
14 Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
Eka Hagai nowacho niya, “‘Jehova Nyasaye wacho ni: Mano bende e kaka jo-Israel kod gik moko duto ma giwachona ei hekaluni ogak.’
15 Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
“‘Koro paruru anena gima biro timore chakre kawuono, kane pok uchako gero hekalu mar Jehova Nyasaye to ne ochalo nade?
16 from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
Donge kata kane ngʼato obiro iru ka ukayo cham koparo ni onyalo yudo ogunde piero ariyo, to oyudo apar kende? Kendo kane obiro kar biyo divai, koparo ni onyalo yudo chupni piero abich, to ne oyudo mana piero ariyo kende.
17 I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
Chambu duto ne aketho gi dera kod pe, to kata bangʼ timo magi to pod ne udagi duogo ira,’ Jehova Nyasaye owacho.
18 Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
‘Paruru ahinya kochakore kawuono tarik piero ariyo gangʼwen mar dwe mar ochiko, ma en odiechiengʼ mane oketie mise mar hekalu mar Jehova Nyasaye.
19 Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
Bende nitiere kodhi ma pod ni ei dero? Nyaka kawuononi mzabibu gi ngʼowu gi olemo mongʼinore kod zeituni pod ok nyag olemo. “‘Chakre kawuono abiro olo gwethna kuomu.’”
20 For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
Wach mar Jehova Nyasaye nobiro nyadiriyo ni janabi Hagai chiengʼ tarik piero ariyo gangʼwen mar dweno:
21 “Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
“Wachne Zerubabel ma jatend Juda ni, ‘Abiro yiengo polo gi piny.
22 I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
Abiro loko loch mag ruodhi; kendo abiro ketho teko mag pinje mamoko, abiro goyo geche mag lweny piny, kaachiel gi joma oidhogi. Ngʼato ka ngʼato biro kedo gi owadgi, kendo farese kod joma oidhogi nonegi.
23 On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
“‘E odiechiengno, anakawi in Zerubabel wuod Shealtiel ma jatichna kendo anaketi ibed ruodh jogo, nikech in ema sani koro aseyieri.’ Jehova Nyasaye Maratego ema owacho.”
