Haggai 1
1 In the second year of the reign of Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, stating
[第一篇演詞]達理阿王二年六月初一，有上主的話藉哈蓋先知傳給沙耳提耳的兒子猶大省長則魯巴貝耳，和約匝達克火兒子大司祭耶叔亞說：
2 that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.’”
萬軍的上主這樣說：這百姓說：「建築上主的殿字的時候還沒有到! 」
3 Then the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
於是上主的話藉哈蓋先知說：「
4 “Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?”
當這座殿還尸一堆廢墟時，難道為你們就到了住有天花皮的房屋的時候﹖
5 Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
如今萬軍的上主這樣說：你們應細心考慮一下你們的行逕!
6 You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You earn wages to put into a bag pierced through.”
你們播種的多，卻收割的少；你們吃，卻總吃不飽；你們喝，卻總喝不夠；你們穿衣，卻總不覺溫暖；賺了工資，無異尸將工資投了破囊。
7 This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
萬軍的上主這樣說：你們應考慮一下你們的行逕!
8 Go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified, says the LORD.
你們應上山去，搬運木材，建造殿宇! 葷到家時裏，我必因此喜悅，並發顯光榮──上主說。
9 You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is busy with his own house.
你們期望豐收，看，反而歉收；你們運到家裏，我反把它吃散；這是為了什麼﹖──萬軍上主的斷語──是為了我的殿宇尚在荒廢，而你們竟各自趕造自己的房屋。
10 Therefore, on account of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth has withheld its crops.
為此，上主對你們停降雨露，大地也停止了出產，
11 I have summoned a drought on the fields and on the mountains, on the grain, new wine, and oil, and on whatever the ground yields, on man and beast, and on all the labor of your hands.”
因為我向大地、群山、五穀、新油、田地的出產、人畜和手中的一切工作招來了旱災。」
12 Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of the prophet Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. So the people feared the LORD.
於是沙耳提耳的兒子則魯巴貝耳的兒子，約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞，以及全體遺民都聽從了上主，他們天主的聲音，也聽從了上主，他們的天主給他們派遺來的哈蓋先知的話；因此百姓在上主面前都起了敬畏的心。
13 Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, delivered the message of the LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the LORD.
上主的使者哈蓋就以上主使者的名義向人民說：我與你們同在──上主的斷語。
14 So the LORD stirred the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and began the work on the house of the LORD of Hosts, their God,
於是上主振興起了沙耳提耳的兒子猶大省長則魯巴貝耳的精神，以及約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞的，和全體遺民的精神，他們便都上前來興工建造萬軍的上主，他們的天主的聖殿。
15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius.
時在達理阿王二年六月二十四日。
