Genesis 46
1 So Israel set out with all that he had, and when he came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
ഇസ്രായേൽ തനിക്കുള്ള സകലവുമായി യാത്രതിരിച്ചു; ബേർ-ശേബയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ പിതാവായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിനു യാഗങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിച്ചു.
2 And that night God spoke to Israel in a vision: “Jacob, Jacob!” He said. “Here I am,” replied Jacob.
ദൈവം രാത്രിയിൽ, ഒരു ദർശനത്തിൽ ഇസ്രായേലിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു; “യാക്കോബേ! യാക്കോബേ!” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. “അടിയൻ ഇതാ” അദ്ദേഹം ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
3 “I am God,” He said, “the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: “ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു ദൈവം; നിന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ദൈവംതന്നെ. ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു പോകാൻ ഭയപ്പെടരുത്, അവിടെ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വലിയൊരു ജനതയാക്കും.
4 I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will surely bring you back. And Joseph’s own hands will close your eyes.”
ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു പോരുകയും നിന്നെ വീണ്ടും മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുവരികയും ചെയ്യും. യോസേഫിന്റെ സ്വന്തം കൈകൾതന്നെ നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾ അടയ്ക്കും” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
5 Then Jacob departed from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel took their father Jacob in the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him, along with their children and wives.
ഇതിനുശേഷം യാക്കോബ് ബേർ-ശേബയിൽനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവായ യാക്കോബിനെയും തങ്ങളുടെ കുട്ടികളെയും ഭാര്യമാരെയും അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി ഫറവോൻ അയച്ചിരുന്ന വാഹനങ്ങളിൽ കയറ്റി.
6 They also took the livestock and possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt.
അവർ കനാനിൽവെച്ചു സമ്പാദിച്ച തങ്ങളുടെ സകല ആടുമാടുകളും വസ്തുവകകളും കൂടെക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി. യാക്കോബും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ സന്താനങ്ങളും ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു പോയി.
7 Jacob took with him to Egypt his sons and grandsons, and his daughters and granddaughters—all his offspring.
അദ്ദേഹം തന്നോടൊപ്പം പുത്രന്മാരെയും പൗത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും പൗത്രിമാരെയും—ഇങ്ങനെ സകലസന്താനങ്ങളെയും ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
8 Now these are the names of the sons of Israel (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.
ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു പോയവരായ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ (യാക്കോബിന്റെയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളുടെയും) പേരുകൾ ഇവയാണ്: യാക്കോബിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതനായ രൂബേൻ.
9 The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
രൂബേന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: ഹാനോക്ക്, ഫല്ലൂ, ഹെസ്രോൻ, കർമി,
10 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.
ശിമെയോന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: യെമൂവേൽ, യാമിൻ, ഓഹദ്, യാഖീൻ, സോഹർ, ഒരു കനാന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ മകനായ ശാവൂൽ.
11 The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
ലേവിയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ: ഗെർശോൻ, കെഹാത്ത്, മെരാരി.
12 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.
യെഹൂദയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ: ഏർ, ഓനാൻ, ശേലഹ്, ഫേരെസ്, സേരഹ് (എന്നാൽ ഏരും ഓനാനും കനാൻനാട്ടിൽവെച്ചു മരിച്ചുപോയി.) ഫേരെസിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: ഹെസ്രോൻ, ഹാമൂൽ.
13 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Job, and Shimron.
യിസ്സാഖാറിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: തോലാ, പൂവാ, യോബ്, ശിമ്രോൻ.
14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
സെബൂലൂന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: സേരെദ്, ഏലോൻ, യഹ്ലെയേൽ.
15 These are the sons of Leah born to Jacob in Paddan-aram, in addition to his daughter Dinah. The total number of sons and daughters was thirty-three.
ഇവർ യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ; ഇവരെയും യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രിയായ ദീനായെയും ലേയാ പദ്ദൻ-അരാമിൽവെച്ചു പ്രസവിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഈ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരുംകൂടി ആകെ മുപ്പത്തിമൂന്നു പേർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
16 The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.
ഗാദിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: സിഫ്യോൻ, ഹഗ്ഗീ, ശൂനി, എസ്ബോൻ, ഏരി, അരോദി, അരേലി.
17 The children of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and their sister Serah. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.
ആശേരിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: യിമ്നാ, യിശ്വ, യിശ്‌വി, ബേരീയാ. ഇവരുടെ സഹോദരി ആയിരുന്നു സേരഹ്. ബേരീയാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: ഹേബെർ, മൽക്കീയേൽ
18 These are the sons of Jacob born to Zilpah—whom Laban gave to his daughter Leah—sixteen in all.
ഇവരായിരുന്നു ലാബാൻ തന്റെ മകളായ ലേയയ്ക്കു കൊടുത്ത സിൽപ്പയിൽ യാക്കോബിനു ജനിച്ച മക്കൾ—ആകെ പതിനാറുപേർ.
19 The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ റാഹേലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: യോസേഫ്, ബെന്യാമീൻ.
20 Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph in the land of Egypt by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.
ഓനിലെ പുരോഹിതനായ പോത്തിഫേറയുടെ മകളായ ആസ്നത്തിൽ യോസേഫിനു മനശ്ശെയും എഫ്രയീമും ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽവെച്ചു ജനിച്ചു.
21 The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.
ബെന്യാമീന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: ബേല, ബേഖെർ, അശ്ബേൽ, ഗേര, നയമാൻ, ഏഹീ, രോശ്, മുപ്പീം, ഹുപ്പീം, ആരെദ്.
22 These are the sons of Rachel born to Jacob—fourteen in all.
ഇവരായിരുന്നു യാക്കോബിനു റാഹേലിൽ ജനിച്ച പുത്രന്മാർ—ആകെ പതിന്നാലു പേർ.
23 The son of Dan: Hushim.
ദാനിന്റെ പുത്രൻ: ഹൂശീം.
24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
നഫ്താലിയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ: യഹ്സേൽ, ഗൂനി, യേസെർ, ശില്ലേം.
25 These are the sons of Jacob born to Bilhah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel—seven in all.
ഇവരായിരുന്നു ലാബാൻ തന്റെ മകളായ റാഹേലിനു കൊടുത്തിരുന്ന ബിൽഹായിൽ യാക്കോബിനു ജനിച്ച പുത്രന്മാർ—ആകെ ഏഴുപേർ.
26 All those belonging to Jacob who came to Egypt—his direct descendants, besides the wives of Jacob’s sons—numbered sixty-six persons.
യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെ കൂടാതെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നേരിട്ടുള്ള പിൻഗാമികളായി, അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു പോയവർ അറുപത്തിയാറുപേർ ആയിരുന്നു.
27 And with the two sons who had been born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob’s family who went to Egypt were seventy in all.
യോസേഫിന് ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽവെച്ചു ജനിച്ച രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാർ ഉൾപ്പെടെ, ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു പോയ യാക്കോബിന്റെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങൾ ആകെക്കൂടി എഴുപതുപേരായിരുന്നു.
28 Now Jacob had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. When Jacob’s family arrived in the land of Goshen,
ഗോശെനിലേക്കുള്ള വഴി അറിയേണ്ടതിന് യാക്കോബ് തനിക്കുമുമ്പ് യെഹൂദയെ യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് അയച്ചു.
29 Joseph prepared his chariot and went there to meet his father Israel. Joseph presented himself to him, embraced him, and wept profusely.
അവർ ഗോശെൻ പ്രദേശത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോഴേക്കും യോസേഫ് തന്റെ രഥം തയ്യാറാക്കി, പിതാവായ ഇസ്രായേലിനെ എതിരേൽക്കാൻ ഗോശെനിൽ ചെന്നിരുന്നു. പിതാവിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾതന്നെ യോസേഫ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കെട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ച് ഏറെനേരം കരഞ്ഞു.
30 Then Israel said to Joseph, “Finally I can die, now that I have seen your face and know that you are still alive!”
ഇസ്രായേൽ യോസേഫിനോട്, “ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ മരിക്കാൻ ഒരുക്കമാണ്, കാരണം നീ ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻതന്നെ നേരിട്ടു കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and inform Pharaoh: ‘My brothers and my father’s household from the land of Canaan have come to me.
പിന്നെ, യോസേഫ് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടും പിതാവിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിലുള്ള എല്ലാവരോടുമായി പറഞ്ഞു, “ഞാൻ ചെന്ന് ഫറവോനോടു സംസാരിക്കും. അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, ‘കനാൻദേശത്തു ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നവരായ എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും പിതാവിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലുള്ളവരും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
32 The men are shepherds; they raise livestock, and they have brought their flocks and herds and all that they own.’
ആ പുരുഷന്മാർ ഇടയന്മാരാണ്; അവർ ആടുമാടുകളെ മേയിക്കുന്നു; അവർ തങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം ആടുമാടുകളെയും തങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള സകലതും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്’ എന്നു പറയും.
33 When Pharaoh summons you and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’
ഫറവോൻ നിങ്ങളെ അകത്തേക്കു വിളിച്ച് ‘നിങ്ങളുടെ തൊഴിൽ എന്താണ്?’ എന്നു ചോദിക്കുമ്പോൾ
34 you are to say, ‘Your servants have raised livestock ever since our youth—both we and our fathers.’ Then you will be allowed to settle in the land of Goshen, since all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.”
‘അടിയങ്ങൾ അടിയങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിനെപ്പോലെതന്നെ ബാല്യംമുതൽ ആടുമാടുകളെ മേയിച്ചുപോരുന്നു’ എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറയണം. അപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഗോശെൻ പ്രദേശത്തു താമസം ഉറപ്പിക്കാൻ അനുവാദം ലഭിക്കും; ഇടയന്മാരോട് ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാർക്കു വെറുപ്പാണ്.”
