Genesis 46
1 So Israel set out with all that he had, and when he came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
Et Israël partit avec tout ce qui lui appartenait; et arrivé à Beersébah il offrit des sacrifices au Dieu de son père Isaac.
2 And that night God spoke to Israel in a vision: “Jacob, Jacob!” He said. “Here I am,” replied Jacob.
Et Dieu parla à Israël dans une vision de la nuit et dit: Jacob! Jacob! Et il répondit. Me voici.
3 “I am God,” He said, “the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.
Et Il dit: Je suis Dieu, le Dieu de ton père: ne crains pas de descendre en Égypte, car là je te ferai devenir une grande nation.
4 I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will surely bring you back. And Joseph’s own hands will close your eyes.”
Moi-même je descendrai avec toi en Égypte, et je t'en ramènerai, et Joseph te fermera les yeux.
5 Then Jacob departed from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel took their father Jacob in the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him, along with their children and wives.
Alors Jacob quitta Beersébah, et les fils d'Israël transportèrent Jacob, leur père, et leurs enfants et leurs femmes sur les chariots que Pharaon avait envoyés pour les transporter.
6 They also took the livestock and possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt.
Et ils prirent leurs troupeaux et leurs biens acquis dans le pays de Canaan, et vinrent en Égypte, Jacob et toute sa lignée avec lui;
7 Jacob took with him to Egypt his sons and grandsons, and his daughters and granddaughters—all his offspring.
il amena en Égypte les fils et les fils de ses fils avec lui, ses filles et les filles de ses fils et toute sa lignée avec lui.
8 Now these are the names of the sons of Israel (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.
Et voici les noms des fils d'Israël qui vinrent en Égypte:
9 The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
Jacob et ses fils: le premier-né de ses fils, Ruben. Et les fils de Ruben: Hanoch et Phallu et Hestrom et Charmi.
10 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.
Et les fils de Siméon: Jemuel et Jamin et Ohad et Jachin et Tsohar et Saul, fils de la Cananéenne.
11 The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Et les fils de Lévi: Gerson, Kahath et Merari.
12 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.
Et les fils de Juda: Ger et Onan et Sélah et Pérets et Zarah; mais Ger et Onan moururent dans le pays de Canaan. Et les fils de Pérets furent: Hetsron et Hamul.
13 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Job, and Shimron.
Et les fils d'Issaschar: Thola et Phuva et Job et Simron.
14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
Et les fils de Zabulon: Sered et Elon et Jahléel.
15 These are the sons of Leah born to Jacob in Paddan-aram, in addition to his daughter Dinah. The total number of sons and daughters was thirty-three.
Tels sont les fils de Léa, qu'elle enfanta à Jacob en Mésopotamie, de même que Dina sa fille. Ses fils et ses filles étaient au nombre de trente-trois âmes en tout.
16 The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.
Et les fils de Gad: Tsiphjon et Haggi, Suni et Etsbon, Eri et Arodi et Areli.
17 The children of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and their sister Serah. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.
Et les fils d'Asser: Jimna et Jisva et Jisvi et Bria, et Sérah, leur sœur. Et les fils de Bria: Héber et Malchiel.
18 These are the sons of Jacob born to Zilpah—whom Laban gave to his daughter Leah—sixteen in all.
Tels sont les fils de Zilpa que Laban donna à Léa, sa fille, et elle les enfanta à Jacob, seize âmes.
19 The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
Les fils de Rachel, femme de Jacob: Joseph et Benjamin.
20 Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph in the land of Egypt by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.
Et les enfants qu'eut Joseph au pays d'Égypte, de Asnath, fille de Potiphar, prêtre de On: Manassé et Ephraïm.
21 The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.
Et les fils de Benjamin: Bela et Becher et Asbel, Géra et Naaman, Echi et Ros, Muppim et Huppim et Ard.
22 These are the sons of Rachel born to Jacob—fourteen in all.
Tels sont les fils de Rachel qui naquirent à Jacob, ensemble quatorze âmes.
23 The son of Dan: Hushim.
Et les fils de Dan: Husim.
24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
Et les fils de Nephthali: Jatseel et Guni et Jetser et Sillem.
25 These are the sons of Jacob born to Bilhah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel—seven in all.
Tels sont les fils de Bilha que Laban donna à Rachel, sa fille, et elle les enfanta à Jacob, ensemble sept âmes.
26 All those belonging to Jacob who came to Egypt—his direct descendants, besides the wives of Jacob’s sons—numbered sixty-six persons.
Le nombre total des personnes qui vinrent avec Jacob en Égypte et étaient issues de ses reins, était, sans compter les femmes des fils de Jacob, de soixante-six âmes en tout;
27 And with the two sons who had been born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob’s family who went to Egypt were seventy in all.
et les fils de Joseph qui lui naquirent en Égypte étaient deux. Toutes les personnes de la maison de Jacob qui vinrent en Égypte formaient ensemble soixante-dix personnes.
28 Now Jacob had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. When Jacob’s family arrived in the land of Goshen,
Cependant il dépêcha Juda en avant vers Joseph, pour que celui-ci, avant son arrivée, dirigeât Juda sur Gosen; et ils arrivèrent dans la contrée de Gosen.
29 Joseph prepared his chariot and went there to meet his father Israel. Joseph presented himself to him, embraced him, and wept profusely.
Aussitôt Joseph attela son char et s'avança à la rencontre de son père jusqu'à Gosen. Et quand il fut en sa présence, il se jeta à son cou et pleura longtemps sur le cou de son père.
30 Then Israel said to Joseph, “Finally I can die, now that I have seen your face and know that you are still alive!”
Et Israël dit à Joseph: Je puis mourir maintenant, puisque j'ai vu ton visage et que je te vois en vie!
31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and inform Pharaoh: ‘My brothers and my father’s household from the land of Canaan have come to me.
Et Joseph dit à ses frères et à la maison de son père: Je vais retourner pour informer Pharaon et lui dire: Mes frères et la maison de mon père qui étaient au pays de Canaan, sont arrivés auprès de moi.
32 The men are shepherds; they raise livestock, and they have brought their flocks and herds and all that they own.’
Et ces hommes sont pasteurs, car ils s'adonnent au soin des troupeaux, et ils ont amené avec eux leur menu et leur gros bétail, et tout ce qui est à eux.
33 When Pharaoh summons you and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’
S'il arrive donc que Pharaon vous interpelle et vous dise:
34 you are to say, ‘Your servants have raised livestock ever since our youth—both we and our fathers.’ Then you will be allowed to settle in the land of Goshen, since all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.”
Quelle est votre occupation? vous répondrez: Tes serviteurs s'adonnent au soin des troupeaux depuis leur jeunesse jusqu'à maintenant, nous aussi bien que nos pères; et cela afin que vous puissiez habiter la contrée de Gosen. Car tous les pasteurs de brebis sont l'abomination des Egyptiens.
