< Galatians 3 >

1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.
Ri ix ix aj Galacia, ¡sibꞌalaj man kꞌo taj iwetaꞌmabꞌal! ¿Jachin xbꞌanow chiꞌwe chi man kinimaj ta ri qas tzij, ri xkꞌut chiꞌwach chirij ri Cristo ri xekebꞌax cho ri ripbꞌal?
2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
Xwi kawaj kinwetaꞌmaj: ¿La xikꞌamawaꞌj ri Uxlabꞌal rumal ri chak ri kuta ri taqanik, o xa rumal ri xitatabꞌej ri tzij rukꞌ kojobꞌal?
3 Are you so foolish? After starting in the Spirit, are you now finishing in the flesh?
¿La xa kꞌu sibꞌalaj maj iwetaꞌmabꞌal? Nabꞌe xichapleꞌj pa ri Uxlabꞌal ¿la kꞌa te kꞌu riꞌ kiwaj kitzꞌaqatisaj rukꞌ ri ichuqꞌabꞌ pa ri ityoꞌjal?
4 Have you suffered so much for nothing, if it really was for nothing?
¿La xaq kꞌu xiriq kꞌax kꞌa te riꞌ man kꞌo ta kichꞌek che? Pune man kinkoj taj chi mat kꞌo kichꞌek che ri jastaq ri xibꞌano.
5 Does God lavish His Spirit on you and work miracles among you because you practice the law, or because you hear and believe?
Ri Dios ri kuya ri Uxlabꞌal chiꞌwe rech kibꞌan mayijabꞌal taq jastaq chiꞌxoꞌl, ¿la kubꞌan kꞌut rumal ri chak ri kutoqꞌij ri taqanik o kubꞌano rumal ri kojobꞌal ri xikojo chukꞌamawaꞌxik ri tzij?
6 So also, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
Jeriꞌ xkꞌulmatajik rukꞌ ri Abraham, xukojo ri xbꞌix che rumal ri Dios rumal riꞌ xbꞌix che chi jun sukꞌ achi.
7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are sons of Abraham.
Xaq jeriꞌ, chiwetaꞌmaj chi ri e rijaꞌl ri Abraham are ri kꞌo kikojobꞌal.
8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and foretold the gospel to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
Qas tzij wi, ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik ojer xubꞌij loq chi ri Dios kubꞌan na sukꞌ chike ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel taj rumal ri kikojobꞌal, kꞌa te riꞌ xubꞌij che ri Abraham: Rumal awe ketewchiꞌtaj na konojel ri e tinimit rech ri uwachulew.
9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Xaq jeriꞌ ri e kꞌaslik pa ri kikojobꞌal e tewchiꞌtal rukꞌ ri kojonel Abraham.
10 All who rely on works of the law are under a curse. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”
Konojel ri are kakubꞌiꞌ kikꞌuꞌx che ubꞌanik ri chak ri kuta ri taqanik, e kꞌo chuxeꞌ ri etzelal, jeriꞌ rumal cher ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij: Etzelatajinaq uwach ri winaq ri man kubꞌan ta ronojel ri kubꞌij ri tzꞌibꞌatal pa ri wuj rech ri taqanik.
11 Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.”
Xuqujeꞌ man kꞌo ta jun kabꞌantaj sukꞌ che rumal ri taqanik. Jeriꞌ rumal ri sukꞌ winaq kakꞌasiꞌk rumal ri kojobꞌal.
12 The law, however, is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.”
Ri taqanik man rech ta ri kojobꞌal, xane kubꞌij: Ri winaq ri kubꞌan we jastaq riꞌ kakꞌasiꞌ na rumal rech.
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
Ri Cristo xujresaj loq pa ri etzelal rech ri taqanik are xubꞌan itzel chibꞌil ribꞌ xa rumal qe, jetaq kubꞌij ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik: Etzelatajinaq uwach ri karip cho jun che.
14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
Jeriꞌ xkꞌulmatajik rech xa rumal ri Cristo Jesús, ri tewechibꞌal rech ri Abraham xopan kukꞌ ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel taj, rech jeriꞌ rumal ri kojobꞌal kaqakꞌamawaꞌj ri tzujtal loq chaqe rumal ri Uxlabꞌal.
15 Brothers, let me put this in human terms. Even a human covenant, once it is ratified, cannot be canceled or amended.
Qachalal, kinkoj jun kꞌutbꞌal chiꞌwach: Jun chꞌekom tzij, pune xa rech achi, we xbꞌantajik, man kꞌo ta chi jun karesaj jubꞌiqꞌ che ri xbꞌiꞌtajik xuqujeꞌ man kꞌo ta chi jun kabꞌinik chi man kꞌo ta kutayij.
16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.
Je kꞌu riꞌ, ri tzujtal loq, che ri Abraham xbꞌix wi loq xuqujeꞌ ri rijaꞌl. Ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik man kubꞌij taj chike ri e rijaꞌl, je ta ne ri e kꞌo kꞌi, xane che ri rijaꞌl ri kel kubꞌij chi xa jun, are waꞌ ri Cristo.
17 What I mean is this: The law that came 430 years later does not revoke the covenant previously established by God, so as to nullify the promise.
Ri kawaj kinbꞌij are we riꞌ: Ri chꞌekom tzij ri xbꞌanik ojer rukꞌ ri Dios man kakwin taj ri taqanik ri kꞌa te xpe chi kajibꞌ ciento rukꞌ juwinaq lajuj junabꞌ chuchupik rech man kesax ta uchuqꞌabꞌ ri tzujtal loq.
18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God freely granted it to Abraham through a promise.
Rumal cher we ta kayaꞌtaj ri echabꞌal xa rumal ri taqanik riꞌ man kayaꞌtaj taj rumal cher xa tzujtal loq. Ri Dios kꞌut xuya ri echabꞌal che ri Abraham xa rumal ri utzujum loq che.
19 Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the seed to whom the promise referred. It was administered through angels by a mediator.
¿Jas kꞌu xutayij ri taqanik? Xyaꞌtajik rech jeriꞌ kaqꞌalajinik chi man utz ta ri tajin kabꞌanik, kꞌa xpe na ri rijaꞌl ri Abraham ri tzujtal loq chi kape na. Are ri angelibꞌ xeyoꞌwik ri taqanik puꞌqꞌabꞌ jun chꞌawenel.
20 A mediator is unnecessary, however, for only one party; but God is one.
Xaq jeriꞌ man kꞌo ta kutayij jun chꞌawenel we xa jun kabꞌan rech, ri Dios kꞌut xa jun.
21 Is the law, then, opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come from the law.
We jeriꞌ ubꞌanik we jastaq riꞌ, ¿la ukꞌulel kꞌu ri taqanik ri utzujum loq ri Dios? Man je ta riꞌ. We ta kakwin ri taqanik, ri xyaꞌtajik, chuyaꞌik kꞌaslemal ri maj ukꞌisik, are ta bꞌa ri taqanik riꞌ kayoꞌw sukꞌal.
22 But the Scripture pronounces all things confined by sin, so that by faith in Jesus Christ the promise might be given to those who believe.
Are kꞌu ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij chi konojel ri winaq aꞌjuwachulew e kꞌo chuxeꞌ ri mak, jeriꞌ rech rumal ri kojobꞌal pa Jesucristo, kayaꞌtaj na chike ri tzujtal loq.
23 Before this faith came, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.
Are majaꞌ kape we kojobꞌal riꞌ, uj jatꞌital chuxeꞌ ri taqanik, ujtzꞌapitalik qayeꞌm ri kojobꞌal ri kakꞌut na chiqawach.
24 So the law became our guardian to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Xaq jeriꞌ ri taqanik xpe chukꞌamik qabꞌe rech xujpe rukꞌ ri Cristo, jeriꞌ kabꞌantaj sukꞌ chaqe rumal ri kojobꞌal.
25 Now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
Kamik kꞌut chi kꞌo chi ri kojobꞌal, man xa ta chi kakꞌam qabꞌe.
26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Iwonojel ix ralkꞌwaꞌl ri Dios xa rumal ri ikojobꞌal pa Cristo Jesús.
27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Jeriꞌ rumal konojel ri xbꞌantaj kiqasanaꞌ pa Cristo, are xkatzꞌyaqibꞌej ri Cristo.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Man kꞌo ta chi aj Israel xuqujeꞌ man aj Israel taj, man kꞌo ta chi achi xuqujeꞌ ixoq, man kꞌo ta chi ajchak xuqujeꞌ man ajchak taj, xane iwonojel ix, xa ix jun pa Cristo Jesús.
29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.
Kamik kꞌut chi ix rech chi ri Cristo, qas ix rijaꞌl ri Abraham, xuqujeꞌ ix echaꞌnel rech ri utzujum loq ri Dios.
