Ezra 3
1 By the seventh month, the Israelites had settled in their towns, and the people assembled as one man in Jerusalem.
Llegado el mes séptimo, y estando ya los hijos de Israel en sus ciudades, se reunió el pueblo como un solo hombre en Jerusalén.
2 Then Jeshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests, along with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates, began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.
Entonces se levantaron Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, con sus hermanos, los sacerdotes, y Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, con sus hermanos, y reedificaron el altar del Dios de Israel, para ofrecer sobre él holocaustos, según está escrito en la Ley de Moisés, varón de Dios.
3 They set up the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD—both the morning and evening burnt offerings—even though they feared the people of the land.
Erigieron el altar sobre su (antigua) base, pues tenían miedo a los pueblos vecinos, y ofrecieron sobre él holocaustos a Yahvé, el holocausto de la mañana y el de la tarde.
4 They also celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles in accordance with what is written, and they offered burnt offerings daily based on the number prescribed for each day.
Celebraron la fiesta de los Tabernáculos, conforme a lo prescrito, ofreciendo cada día los holocaustos según el número y reglamento correspondiente a cada día.
5 After that, they presented the regular burnt offerings and those for New Moons and for all the appointed sacred feasts of the LORD, as well as all the freewill offerings brought to the LORD.
Después de esto ofrecieron el holocausto perpetuo, los holocaustos de los novilunios y de todas las fiestas consagradas a Yahvé, y los de todos aquellos que hacían ofrendas voluntarias a Yahvé.
6 On the first day of the seventh month, the Israelites began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, although the foundation of the temple of the LORD had not been laid.
Comenzaron a ofrecer holocaustos a Yahvé desde el día primero del mes séptimo, cuando no habían sido todavía puestos los fundamentos del Templo del Señor.
7 They gave money to the masons and carpenters, and food and drink and oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre to bring cedar logs from Lebanon to Joppa by sea, as authorized by Cyrus king of Persia.
Dieron dinero a los canteros y a los carpinteros, y también comida, bebida y aceite a los sidonios y tirios, para que trajesen maderas de cedro desde el Líbano por mar a Joppe, según lo dispuesto por Ciro, rey de Persia.
8 In the second month of the second year after they had arrived at the house of God in Jerusalem, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the rest of their associates including the priests, the Levites, and all who had returned to Jerusalem from the captivity, began the work. They appointed Levites twenty years of age or older to supervise the construction of the house of the LORD.
En el año segundo de su llegada a la Casa de Yahvé, a Jerusalén, en el mes segundo, Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, y el resto de sus hermanos, los sacerdotes y levitas, y todos los que habían venido de la cautividad a Jerusalén, pusieron mano a la obra, y entregaron a los levitas, de veinte años arriba, la dirección de los trabajos de la Casa de Yahvé.
9 So Jeshua and his sons and brothers, Kadmiel and his sons (descendants of Yehudah), and the sons of Henadad and their sons and brothers—all Levites—joined together to supervise those working on the house of God.
Entonces Jesúa con sus hijos y hermanos, Cadmiel con sus hijos, los hijos de Judá y los hijos de Henadad, con sus hijos y sus hermanos levitas, asumieron unánimemente el cargo de dirigir a los que trabajaban en la Casa de Dios.
10 When the builders had laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their positions to praise the LORD, as David king of Israel had prescribed.
Cuando los obreros echaron los fundamentos del Templo de Yahvé, asistieron los sacerdotes, revestidos de sus ornamentos, y con las trompetas, y los levitas, hijos de Asaf, con címbalos, para alabar a Yahvé, según las disposiciones de David, rey de Israel.
11 And they sang responsively with praise and thanksgiving to the LORD: “For He is good; for His loving devotion to Israel endures forever.” Then all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD had been laid.
Cantaron, alabando y confesando a Yahvé: “Porque Él es bueno; porque es eterna su misericordia para con Israel.” Y todo el pueblo prorrumpió en grandes voces de alabanza a Yahvé, porque se echaban los cimientos de la Casa de Yahvé.
12 But many of the older priests, Levites, and family heads who had seen the first temple wept loudly when they saw the foundation of this temple. Still, many others shouted joyfully.
Muchos de los sacerdotes y levitas y de los jefes de las casas paternas, ancianos ya, que habían visto la Casa primera, lloraban en voz alta al echarse los cimientos de esta Casa ante sus ojos; muchos en cambio, alzaban la voz dando gritos de alegría,
13 The people could not distinguish the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people were making so much noise. And the sound was heard from afar.
de modo que el pueblo no podía distinguir entre los gritos de alegría y los llantos de la gente; porque el pueblo gritaba a grandes voces, y el sonido se oía desde lejos.
