1 Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles carried away to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar its king. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,
Now these are the sons of the province, who ascended from the captivity, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had transferred to Babylon, and who were returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, each one to his own city.
2 accompanied by Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah. This is the count of the men of Israel:

58 The temple servants and descendants of the servants of Solomon numbered 392 in all.

59 The following came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but could not prove that their families were descended from Israel:
And these were the ones who ascended from Telmelah, Telharsha, Cherub, and Addan, and Immer. And they were not able to indicate the house of their fathers and their offspring, whether they were of Israel:
60 the descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda, 652 in all.
The sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred fifty-two.
61 And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).
And from the sons of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai, the Gileadite, and who were called by their name.
62 These men searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
These sought the writing of their genealogy, and they did not find it, and so they were cast out of the priesthood.
63 The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest to consult the Urim and Thummim.
And the cupbearer said to them that they should not eat from the Holy of Holies, until there would arise a priest, learned and perfect.
64 The whole assembly numbered 42,360,
The entire multitude joined together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,
65 in addition to their 7,337 menservants and maidservants, as well as their 200 male and female singers.
not including their men and women servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. And among these were singing men and singing women, two hundred.
66 They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules were two hundred forty-five;
67 435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.
their camels were four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys were six thousand seven hundred twenty.
68 When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings to rebuild the house of God on its original site.
And some of the leaders among the fathers, when they entered into the temple of the Lord, which is in Jerusalem, freely offered some of these to the house of God, in order to construct it in its location.
69 According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priestly garments.
They gave to the expenses of the work in accord with their ability: sixty-one thousand gold coins, five thousand silver minas, and one hundred priestly vestments.
70 So the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, along with some of the people, settled in their own towns; and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
Therefore, the priests and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singing men, and the gatekeepers, and the temple servants lived in their cities, and all of Israel lived in their cities.
