Ezekiel 9
1 Then I heard Him call out in a loud voice, saying, “Draw near, O executioners of the city, each with a weapon of destruction in hand.”
Poi gridò ad alta voce ai miei orecchi, dicendo: “Fate accostare quelli che debbon punire la città, e ciascuno abbia in mano la sua arma di distruzione”.
2 And I saw six men coming from the direction of the Upper Gate, which faces north, each with a weapon of slaughter in his hand. With them was another man clothed in linen who had a writing kit at his side. And they came in and stood beside the bronze altar.
Ed ecco venire dal lato della porta superiore che guarda verso settentrione sei uomini, ognun dei quali aveva in mano la sua arma di distruzione; e in mezzo a loro stava un uomo vestito di lino, che aveva un corno da scrivano alla cintura; e vennero a mettersi di fianco all’altare di rame.
3 Then the glory of the God of Israel rose from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side.
E la gloria dell’Iddio d’Israele s’alzò di sul cherubino sul quale stava, e andò verso la soglia della casa; e l’Eterno chiamò l’uomo vestito di lino, che aveva il corno da scrivano alla cintura, e gli disse:
4 “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem,” said the LORD, “and put a mark on the foreheads of the men sighing and groaning over all the abominations committed there.”
“Passa in mezzo alla città, in mezzo a Gerusalemme, e fa’ un segno sulla fronte degli uomini che sospirano e gemono per tutte le abominazioni che si commettono in mezzo di lei”.
5 And as I listened, He said to the others, “Follow him through the city and start killing; do not show pity or spare anyone!
E agli altri disse, in modo ch’io intesi: “Passate per la città dietro a lui, e colpite; il vostro occhio non risparmi alcuno, e siate senza pietà;
6 Slaughter the old men, the young men and maidens, the women and children; but do not go near anyone who has the mark. Now begin at My sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the temple.
uccidete, sterminate vecchi, giovani, vergini, bambini e donne, ma non vi avvicinate ad alcuno che porti il segno; e cominciate dal mio santuario”. Ed essi cominciarono da quegli anziani che stavano davanti alla casa.
7 Then He told them, “Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go forth!” So they went out and began killing throughout the city.
Poi egli disse loro: “Contaminate la casa ed empite di morti i cortili! Uscite!” E quelli uscirono, e andarono colpendo per la città.
8 While they were killing, I was left alone. And I fell facedown and cried out, “Oh, Lord GOD, when You pour out Your wrath on Jerusalem, will You destroy the entire remnant of Israel?”
E com’essi colpivano ed io ero rimasto solo, caddi sulla mia faccia e gridai: “Ahimè, Signore, Eterno, distruggerai tu tutto ciò che rimane d’Israele, riversando il tuo furore su Gerusalemme?”
9 He replied, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of bloodshed, and the city is full of perversity. For they say, ‘The LORD has forsaken the land; the LORD does not see.’
Ed egli mi rispose: “L’iniquità della casa d’Israele e di Giuda è oltremodo grande; il paese è pieno di sangue, e la città è piena di prevaricazioni; poiché dicono: L’Eterno ha abbandonato il paese, l’Eterno non vede nulla.
10 But as for Me, I will not look on them with pity, nor will I spare them. I will bring their deeds down upon their own heads.”
Perciò, anche l’occhio mio non risparmierà nessuno, io non avrò pietà, e farò ricadere sul loro capo la loro condotta”.
11 Then the man clothed in linen with the writing kit at his side reported back, “I have done as You commanded.”
Ed ecco, l’uomo vestito di lino, che aveva il corno dello scrivano alla cintura, venne a fare il suo rapporto, dicendo: “Ho fatto come tu hai comandato”.
