< Ezekiel 33 >
1 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ̀ mí wá:
2 “Son of man, speak to your people and tell them: ‘Suppose I bring the sword against a land, and the people of that land choose a man from among them, appointing him as their watchman,
“Ọmọ ènìyàn sọ̀rọ̀ sí àwọn ènìyàn ilẹ̀ rẹ kí ó sì sọ fún wọn: ‘Nígbà tí mo bá fi idà kọlu ilẹ̀ kan, tí àwọn ènìyàn ilẹ̀ náà yan ọ̀kan lára àwọn ọkùnrin wọn láti jẹ́ alóre wọn,
3 and he sees the sword coming against that land and blows the ram’s horn to warn the people.
tí ó sì rí i pé idà ń bọ̀ lórí ilẹ̀ náà, tí ó sì fọn ìpè láti kìlọ̀ fún àwọn ènìyàn,
4 Then if anyone hears the sound of the horn but fails to heed the warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head.
nígbà náà tí ẹnikẹ́ni bá gbọ́ ìpè ṣùgbọ́n tí kò gbọ́ ìkìlọ̀, tí idà náà wá tí ó sì gba ẹ̀mí rẹ̀, ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀ yóò wà lórí ara rẹ̀.
5 Since he heard the sound of the horn but failed to heed the warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.
Nítorí tí ó gbọ́ ohùn ìpè ṣùgbọ́n tí kò sì gbọ́ ìkìlọ̀, ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀ yóò wà ní orí ara rẹ̀. Tí ó bá gbọ́ ìkìlọ̀, òun ìbá ti gba ara rẹ̀ là.
6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and fails to blow the horn to warn the people, and the sword comes and takes away a life, then that one will be taken away in his iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.’
Ṣùgbọ́n bí alóre bá rí idà tí o ń bọ̀, tí kò sì fọn ìpè láti ki àwọn ènìyàn nílọ̀, tí idà náà wá, tí ó sì gba ẹ̀mí ọ̀kan nínú wọn, a yóò mú ọkùnrin náà lọ nítorí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n èmi yóò béèrè ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀.’
7 As for you, O son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word from My mouth and give them the warning from Me.
“Ọmọ ènìyàn, èmi fi ọ ṣe alóre fún ilé Israẹli; nítorí náà gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ tí mo sọ, kí o sì fún wọn ni ìkìlọ̀ láti ọ̀dọ̀ mi.
8 If I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to dissuade him from his way, then that wicked man will die in his iniquity, yet I will hold you accountable for his blood.
Nígbà ti mo bá sọ fún ẹni búburú pé, ‘A! Ẹni búburú, ìwọ yóò kú dandan,’ ti ìwọ kò sì sọ̀rọ̀ síta láti yí i lọ́kàn padà kúrò ni ọ̀nà rẹ̀ gbogbo, ẹni búburú náà yóò kú nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀, èmi yóò sì béèrè ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ rẹ.
9 But if you warn the wicked man to turn from his way, and he does not turn from it, he will die in his iniquity, but you will have saved your life.
Ṣùgbọ́n bí ìwọ bá kìlọ̀ fún ẹni búburú láti yí padà kúrò ni ọ̀nà rẹ̀ gbogbo, tí òun kò sì ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, òun yóò kú nítorí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ ti gba ọkàn rẹ̀ là.
10 Now as for you, son of man, tell the house of Israel that this is what they have said: ‘Our transgressions and our sins are heavy upon us, and we are wasting away because of them! How can we live?’
“Ọmọ ènìyàn; sọ fún ilé Israẹli, ‘Èyí yìí ní ìwọ sọ: “Àwọn ìrékọjá àti ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa tẹ orí wa ba, àwa sì ń ṣòfò dànù nítorí wọn. Bá wó wa ni a ṣe lè yè?”’
11 Say to them: ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked should turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’
Sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Níwọ́n ìgbà tí mo wà láààyè ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, èmi kò ní inú dídùn sí ikú ènìyàn búburú, ṣùgbọ́n dípò bẹ́ẹ̀, kí wọ̀nyí padà kúrò ní ọ̀nà wọn gbogbo kì wọn kì ó sì yè. Yí! Yípadà kúrò ni ọ̀nà búburú gbogbo! Kí ló dé tí ìwọ yóò kú ẹ̀yin ènìyàn Israẹli?’
12 Therefore, son of man, say to your people: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked man cause him to stumble on the day he turns from his wickedness. Nor will the righteous man be able to survive by his righteousness on the day he sins.’
“Nítorí náà, ọmọ ènìyàn, sọ fún àwọn ènìyàn ilẹ̀ rẹ, ‘Ìṣòdodo ti olódodo ènìyàn kì yóò gbà á nígbà tí òun bá ṣe àìgbọ́ràn, ìwà búburú ènìyàn búburú kì yóò mú kí o ṣubú nígbà tí ó bá yí padà kúrò nínú rẹ̀. Bí olódodo ènìyàn bá ṣẹ̀, a kò ni jẹ́ kí ó yè nítorí òdodo rẹ̀ ti tẹ́lẹ̀.’
13 If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but he then trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, then none of his righteous works will be remembered; he will die because of the iniquity he has committed.
Bí mo bá sọ fún olódodo ènìyàn pé òun yóò yè, ṣùgbọ́n nígbà náà tí ó gbẹ́kẹ̀lé òdodo rẹ̀ tí ó sì ṣe búburú, a kò ní rántí nǹkan kan nínú iṣẹ́ òdodo tí o ti ṣe sẹ́yìn; òun yóò kú nítorí búburú tí ó ṣe.
14 But if I tell the wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ and he turns from his sin and does what is just and right—
Bí mo bá sọ fún ènìyàn búburú pé, ‘Ìwọ yóò kú dandan,’ ṣùgbọ́n tí ó bá yípadà kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀, ti o sì ṣe èyí tí ó tọ́ àti èyí tí o yẹ.
15 if he restores a pledge, makes restitution for what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without practicing iniquity—then he will surely live; he will not die.
Tí ó bá mu ògo padà, tí o sì da ohun tí o ti jí gbé padà, tí ó sì tẹ̀lé òfin tí ó ń fún ni ní ìyè, tí kò sì ṣe búburú, òun yóò yè dandan; òun kì yóò kú.
16 None of the sins he has committed will be held against him. He has done what is just and right; he will surely live.
A kò ní rántí ọ̀kan nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ tí ó ti dá. Ó ti ṣe èyí tí ó tọ àti èyí tí o yẹ; òun yóò sì yè dájúdájú.
17 Yet your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But it is their way that is not just.
“Síbẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn ilẹ̀ rẹ sọ pé, ‘Ọ̀nà Olúwa kò tọ́.’ Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀nà tí àwọn ní ó tọ́.
18 If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he will die for it.
Bí olódodo ènìyàn ba yípadà kúrò nínú òdodo rẹ̀, tí o sì ṣe búburú, òun yóò kú nítorí rẹ̀.
19 But if a wicked man turns from his wickedness and does what is just and right, he will live because of this.
Bí ènìyàn búburú bá yípadà kúrò nínú búburú rẹ̀, tí ó sì ṣe èyí tí ó tọ́ àti èyí tí ó yẹ, òun yóò yè nípa ṣíṣe bẹ́ẹ̀.
20 Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ But I will judge each of you according to his ways, O house of Israel.”
Síbẹ̀, ilé Israẹli ìwọ wí pé, ‘Ọ̀nà Olúwa ki i ṣe òtítọ́.’ Ṣùgbọ́n èmi yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀nà rẹ̀ ṣe rí.”
21 In the twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth day of the tenth month, a fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and reported, “The city has been taken!”
Ní ọjọ́ karùn-ún oṣù kẹwàá, ọdún kejìlá ìkólọ wa, ọkùnrin kan tí ó sá kúrò ni Jerusalẹmu wá sọ́dọ̀ mi, ó sì wí pé, “Ìlú ńlá náà ti ṣubú!”
22 Now the evening before the fugitive arrived, the hand of the LORD was upon me, and He opened my mouth before the man came to me in the morning. So my mouth was opened and I was no longer mute.
Ní ìrọ̀lẹ́ ọjọ́ tí ó ku ọ̀la tí ẹni tí ó sálọ náà yóò dé, ọwọ́ Olúwa sì níbẹ̀ lára mi, o sì ya ẹnu mi ki ọkùnrin náà tó wá sọ́dọ̀ mi ní òwúrọ̀. Ẹnu mí sì ṣí, èmi kò sì yadi mọ́.
23 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ̀ mí wá:
24 “Son of man, those living in the ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as a possession.’
“Ọmọ ènìyàn, àwọn ènìyàn tí ó ń gbé nínú ìparun ní ilẹ̀ Israẹli ń wí pé, ‘Abrahamu jẹ́ ọkùnrin kan, síbẹ̀ o gba ilẹ̀ ìní náà. Ṣùgbọ́n àwa pọ̀, lóòótọ́ a ti fi ilẹ̀ náà fún wa gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìní wa.’
25 Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘You eat meat with the blood in it, lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. Should you then possess the land?
Nítorí náà, sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Èyí yìí ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí: Níwọ́n ìgbà tí ẹ̀yin jẹ ẹran pẹ̀lú ẹ̀jẹ̀ ni inú rẹ̀, tí ẹ̀yin sì wó àwọn ère yín, tí ẹ sì ta ẹ̀jẹ̀ sílẹ̀, ẹ̀yin yóò ha gba ilẹ̀ náà?
26 You have relied on your swords, you have committed detestable acts, and each of you has defiled his neighbor’s wife. Should you then possess the land?’
Ẹ̀yin gbẹ́kẹ̀lé idà yín, ẹ̀yin ṣe nǹkan ìríra, ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan nínú yín ba á obìnrin aládùúgbò rẹ̀ jẹ́. Ẹ̀yin yóò ha gba ilẹ̀ náà?’
27 Tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘As surely as I live, those in the ruins will fall by the sword, those in the open field I will give to be devoured by wild animals, and those in the strongholds and caves will die by plague.
“Sọ èyí fún wọn: ‘Èyí yìí ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí: Bí mo ti wà láààyè, àwọn tí ó kúrò nínú ìparun yóò ti ipa idà ṣubú, àwọn tí ẹranko búburú yóò pajẹ, àwọn tí ó sì wà ní ilé ìṣọ́ àti inú ihò òkúta ni àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn yóò pa.
28 I will make the land a desolate waste, and the pride of her strength will come to an end. The mountains of Israel will become desolate, so that no one will pass through.
Èmi yóò mú kí ilẹ̀ náà di ahoro, ọ̀ṣọ́ ńlá agbára rẹ̀ kì yóò sí mọ́, àwọn òkè Israẹli yóò sì di ahoro, tí ẹnikẹ́ni kò ní le là á kọjá.
29 Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have made the land a desolate waste because of all the abominations they have committed.’
Nígbà náà, wọn yóò mọ̀ pé èmi ni Olúwa, nígbà tí mo bá mú ilẹ̀ náà di ahoro nítorí gbogbo ohun ìríra tí wọ́n ti ṣe.’
30 As for you, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One speaks to another, each saying to his brother, ‘Come and hear the message that has come from the LORD!’
“Ní tìrẹ, ọmọ ènìyàn, àwọn ènìyàn ìlú n sọ̀rọ̀ nípa rẹ ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ ògiri àti ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà ilé wọn, wọ́n ń sọ sí ara wọn wí pé, ‘Ẹ wá gbọ́ iṣẹ́ ti a ran láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa wá.’
31 So My people come to you as usual, sit before you, and hear your words; but they do not put them into practice. Although they express love with their mouths, their hearts pursue dishonest gain.
Àwọn ènìyàn mi wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ, gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọn ṣe ń ṣe, wọn sì jókòó níwájú rẹ láti fetísí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò mú wá sí ìṣe. Ẹnu wọn ni wọ́n fi n sọ̀rọ̀ ìfọkànsìn, ṣùgbọ́n ọkàn wọn ní ìwọra èrè tí kò tọ́.
32 Indeed, you are to them like a singer of love songs with a beautiful voice, who skillfully plays an instrument. They hear your words but do not put them into practice.
Nítòótọ́ lójú wọn, ìwọ jẹ́ ẹni kan tí ó ń kọrin ìfẹ́ pẹ̀lú ohun dídára àti ohun èlò orin kíkọ, nítorí wọ́n gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò mu wá sí ìṣe.
33 So when it comes to pass—and surely it will come—then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”
“Nígbà tí gbogbo ìwọ̀nyí bá ṣẹ tí yóò sì ṣẹ dandan, nígbà náà wọn yóò mọ̀ pé wòlíì kan ti wa láàrín wọn rí.”
