< Ezekiel 18 >
1 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Hichun kahenga Pakai thusei achom dang khat ahung lhunge.
2 “What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel: ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge’?
“Ipi dinga hiche thuchih hi Israel gamsung chung thudol nasei kit kit uva, “Minu mipate lengpithei thuh aneuvin ahinlah achateu athei twina jeh chun akamsungu atol lhatai,” tia nasei jiu ham?
3 As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel.
Tahbeh mongin keima kahing jinge tin thaneitah Pakaiyin aseije. Israel lah a hiche hi nanungsei kit louhel diu ahitai.
4 Behold, every soul belongs to Me; both father and son are Mine. The soul who sins is the one who will die.
Ijeh inem itile mijouse hi keiman athu katan cheh ding ahin, mipate hihen achateu hijongleu agoma kibang cheh ahiuve. Hiche hi kachonna dan ahi, ‘Koi hile chonset bolla chu thitei ding ahi.’
5 Now suppose a man is righteous and does what is just and right:
Tekah nan, mipa khat chu michonpha ahi, adih chetna atoh a chuleh adih a ahile,
6 He does not eat at the mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her period.
Amapa chun molsang chunga Israel milim manga an aneh khah hih hella ahiloule ahouva apna louva ahileh, amapa chun jonthanhoi abolda a, ahilouleh numei khat chu athinei pet a aluppi da a,
7 He does not oppress another, but restores the pledge to the debtor. He does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing.
Amapa chu sumbat hom mikhoto them ahia, mivaichan bat mana athiltun u akoiden louva ahileh, mivaicha ho neile gou achom peh hih leh, hiche sanga chu agilkel ho ann aneh sah a, saguoh keuva umho ponsil apeh a,
8 He does not engage in usury or take excess interest, but he withholds his hand from iniquity and executes true justice between men.
Sum akan lalouva sumbat ahomma, thudih louva thu kitanna konna akikangse a, lungthengsel ahia, chule midang thutanna agamlat a,
9 He follows My statutes and faithfully keeps My ordinances. That man is righteous; surely he will live,
Chuleh tahsan umtah kathupeh le kachondan ho ajuija ahileh, mikhat touvin hiche thilho hi adih a abolla ahile ama chu hing teitei ding ahi” tin thaneitah Pakaiyin aseije.
10 Now suppose that man has a violent son, who sheds blood or does any of these things,
Ahin hitobang mipa khat chun chapa khat nei hen lang, amapa chu michom tolthat hihen lang, chule thilpha bol ding chu nom tahih henlang hileh,
11 though the father has done none of them: Indeed, the son eats at the mountain and defiles his neighbor’s wife.
Chule hiche chapa chun apan abol khah louhel thilphalou jouse bol tahen lang, molsang chung dunga milim doiho chu gahou hen jonthanhoi bol taleh,
12 He oppresses the poor and needy; he commits robbery and does not restore a pledge. He lifts his eyes to idols; he commits abominations.
Mivaicha leh panpi ding neilou ho chu a engse sea abol'a, asumbat neipa a konna gucha jia, athilbat manna kitungho kilelhat sah ding nom louva, milim doiho hou kidah dah um chonset bolna a kipumpeh,
13 He engages in usury and takes excess interest. Will this son live? He will not! Since he has committed all these abominations, he will surely die; his blood will be on his own head.
Chule sum homma aval vala akan kilah, hitobanga chonsepa chu hing thing ding hinam? Ahipoi amachu thitei tei ding chule themmona dimsetna akilah ding ahi.
14 Now suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father has committed, considers them, and does not do likewise:
Ahinlah hitobang chonsetna dim mipa chun chapa khat nei henlang hiche achapa chun apa gitlouna chengse chu amudoh tengle hitobang hinkho chu mang talou dingin kigeltha taleh,
15 He does not eat at the mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife.
Hiche chapa chu molsang chung dunga milim doi ho chu hou ding nom tahih hen lang chuleh jonthanhoi jin kipeh lut da jeng taleh,
16 He does not oppress another, or retain a pledge, or commit robbery. He gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing.
Mivaicha ho adihlouvin bolda henlang, ahinlah hicheho sang chun mi sumbat a lahna a kitah hen lang amaho chu chommang da hen. Aman agilkel ho ann nehsah hen lang chule angaiho ponsil peleh,
17 He withholds his hand from harming the poor and takes no interest or usury. He keeps My ordinances and follows My statutes. Such a man will not die for his father’s iniquity. He will surely live.
Mivachaho kithopi hen, akan dingin sum hom dahen. Chuleh kachondan ho leh kathupeh ho jui bukim soh hen, hitobang mi chu apa chonset jeh a thilou hel ding, amavang hing teitei ding ahi.
18 As for his father, he will die for his own iniquity, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother, and did what was wrong among his people.
Ahinlah apa vang chu achonsetna tamtah ho jeh a, akhanset jeh a, miho achom jeh a, chule mitmu a kicheh tah a thildihlou abolho jeh a chu thiding ahi.
19 Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
Iti danna apa chonset man achapan apeh lou ham ipi jeh ham natiuve. Ahipoi chapang chun thilpha abolla adih a achonna chuleh kathupehho ajuija ahile hing teitei ding ahi.
20 The soul who sins is the one who will die. A son will not bear the iniquity of his father, and a father will not bear the iniquity of his son. The righteousness of the righteous man will fall upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked man will fall upon him.
Ahinkho a chonsepa vang chu thiding ahi. Apa chonset jeh a achapa ki engbol lou ding, chule achapa chonset jeh a apa ki engbol lou ding ahi. Michonpha ho chu achonphatna jal'a tohphatman asan uva, chuleh migilou techu agitlou nau jal'a, ki engbol dingu ahi.
21 But if the wicked man turns from all the sins he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die.
Ahinlah ijem tin migilou techun achonset nau jousea kon in hung kihei mang uhenlang chuleh kathupeh ho hin jui pan uhen, chule thilpha leh adih chu hin bol uhenlang hileh hing teitei dingu ahin, thilou hel dingu ahi.
22 None of the transgressions he has committed will be held against him. Because of the righteousness he has practiced, he will live.
Achesa phat a achonset nau jouse kisuhmil peh a chuleh chonphat abol hou jouse jeh a hing diu ahi.
23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Wouldn’t I prefer that he turn from his ways and live?
Migilouho thi chu kamu nomma nangaitou ham tin thaneitah Pakai chun aseije. Migilou chu agitlouna a konna akihei manga ahin ding chu kadei louva nabolu ham?
24 But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, committing the same abominations as the wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he will die.
Iti hen lang hijongle michonpha khat tou chu achonphatna lampia konna akihei manga chonset abolpat tah a, midang chonset banga achonset tah a ahileh, amaho chu ahin diu kiphal peh ding ham. Ahipoi hithei louhel ding ahibouve. Achonphat nahou jouse chu kisuhmil peh a chule achonset nauva thiden diu ahi.
25 Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is it My way that is unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
Ahijeng vang'in Pakaiyin thilpha chu abollou ham tin nasei jiuve. O Israel mipite! Thilpha bollou chu kei kahi ham? Ahiloule nangho nahiu ham?
26 If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, he will die for this. He will die because of the iniquity he has committed.
Michonpha ho chu achonphat nauva konna akihei mang uva chonset thil abolpat tah uva ahile hiche a chu thi diu ahi. Henge achonset nau jeh a chu thidiu ahi.
27 But if a wicked man turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will save his life.
Chuleh migilou ho chun agitlou nauva konna ahung kihei doh uva, dan ajui uva, chuleh thilpha leh adih abol uva ahileh, amaho chun ahinkhou chu akihuhdoh diu ahi.
28 Because he considered and turned from all the transgressions he had committed, he will surely live; he will not die.
Achonset nauva konna kiheidoh dinga akigel lhah nau alunggel ho jeh a amaho chu hing diu ahi. Hitobang mi chu thilou ding ahi.
29 Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are My ways unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?
Ahijeng vang'in Israel mipi ten hitin aseije uve. Pakaiyin thilpha abolpoi, “O Israel mipite, thilpha bollou chu nangho nahiuvin kei kahipoi.”
30 Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each according to his ways, declares the Lord GOD. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, so that your iniquity will not become your downfall.
Hiche jeh a chu O Israel mipite, nachon nau dungjui cheh uva khat cheh a nachung thu katan ding ahi tin thaneitah Pakaiyin aseije. Nalung heijun lang chule nachonset nauva kon in keihei mangun kisuhmang sah hih un.
31 Cast away from yourselves all the transgressions you have committed, and fashion for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, O house of Israel?
Doumah mah nabol chengseu chu nanung languvah koijun, lungthah sem uvin lang lhagao thah neijun. Ipijeh a nathi jeng diu ham O Israel mite.
32 For I take no pleasure in anyone’s death, declares the Lord GOD. So repent and live!
Kinung heijun lang hingun, nathi diu kadeipoi tin thaneitah Pakaiyin aseije.
