< Exodus 7 >
1 The LORD answered Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.
INkosi yasisithi kuMozisi: Bona, ngikwenze waba njengoNkulunkulu kuFaro; loAroni umnewenu uzakuba ngumprofethi wakho.
2 You are to speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his land.
Wena uzakhuluma konke engikulaya khona; loAroni umnewenu uzakhuluma kuFaro ukuthi ayekele abantwana bakoIsrayeli baphume elizweni lakhe.
3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I will multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,
Kodwa mina ngizakwenza inhliziyo kaFaro ibe lukhuni, ngandise izibonakaliso zami lezimangaliso zami elizweni leGibhithe.
4 Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay My hand on Egypt, and by mighty acts of judgment I will bring the divisions of My people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.
Kodwa uFaro kayikulilalela; njalo ngizabeka isandla sami phezu kweGibhithe, ngikhuphe amabutho ami, isizwe sami, abantwana bakoIsrayeli, elizweni leGibhithe, ngezigwebo ezinkulu.
5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out My hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out from among them.”
Njalo amaGibhithe azakwazi ukuthi ngiyiNkosi, lapho ngiselula isandla sami phezu kweGibhithe, ngikhuphe abantwana bakoIsrayeli phakathi kwawo.
6 So Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded them.
OMozisi loAroni basebesenza njengoba iNkosi yabalaya; benza njalo.
7 Moses was eighty years old and Aaron was eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.
UMozisi wayeseleminyaka engamatshumi ayisificaminwembili, loAroni wayeleminyaka engamatshumi ayisificaminwembili lantathu lapho bekhuluma kuFaro.
8 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
INkosi yasikhuluma kuMozisi lakuAroni, isithi:
9 “When Pharaoh tells you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ you are to say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a serpent.”
Nxa uFaro ekhuluma lani esithi: Zenzeleni isimangaliso; uzakuthi kuAroni: Thatha intonga yakho, uyiphosele phansi phambi kukaFaro, izakuba yinyoka.
10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD had commanded. Aaron threw his staff down before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.
UMozisi loAroni basebengena kuFaro, benza njalo njengoba iNkosi ilayile; uAroni wasephosela phansi intonga yakhe phambi kukaFaro laphambi kwenceku zakhe, yasisiba yinyoka.
11 But Pharaoh called the wise men and sorcerers and magicians of Egypt, and they also did the same things by their magic arts.
UFaro wasebiza laye izazi labathakathi; labalumbi beGibhithe labo benza njalo ngamalumbo abo.
12 Each one threw down his staff, and it became a serpent. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up the other staffs.
Ngoba ngulowo lalowo waphosela phansi intonga yakhe, zaba zinyoka; kodwa intonga kaAroni yaginya intonga zabo.
13 Still, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.
Kodwa inhliziyo kaFaro yaba lukhuni, okokuthi kabalalelanga, njengokutsho kweNkosi.
14 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.
INkosi yasisithi kuMozisi: Inhliziyo kaFaro inzima, uyala ukuyekela isizwe sihambe.
15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning as you see him walking out to the water. Wait on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.
Yana kuFaro ekuseni; khangela, uzaphuma esiya emanzini, ume uqondane laye ekhunjini lomfula, lentonga eyaphenduka yaba yinyoka ithathe esandleni sakho.
16 Then say to him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me in the wilderness. But you have not listened until now.
Uzakuthi kuye: INkosi uNkulunkulu wamaHebheru ingithume kuwe isithi: Yekela isizwe sami sihambe, singikhonze enkangala; kodwa khangela, kawulalelanga kuze kube khathesi.
17 This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD. Behold, with the staff in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will turn to blood.
Itsho njalo iNkosi: Ngalokhu uzakwazi ukuthi ngiyiNkosi; khangela, ngizatshaya ngentonga esesandleni sami phezu kwamanzi asemfuleni, njalo azaphenduka abe ligazi.
18 The fish in the Nile will die, the river will stink, and the Egyptians will be unable to drink its water.’”
Lenhlanzi ezisemfuleni zizakufa, lomfula ube levumba; lamaGibhithe azadinwa yikunatha amanzi emfuleni.
19 And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers and canals and ponds and reservoirs—that they may become blood.’ There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in the vessels of wood and stone.”
INkosi yasisithi kuMozisi: Tshono kuAroni uthi: Thatha intonga yakho, welule isandla sakho phezu kwamanzi eGibhithe, phezu kwemifula yabo, phezu kwezifula zabo, laphezu kweziziba zabo, laphezu kwamachibi wonke amanzi abo, ukuze abe ligazi. Kuzakuba legazi elizweni lonke leGibhithe, lezitsheni zezihlahla lezamatshe.
20 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded; in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials, Aaron raised the staff and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was turned to blood.
UMozisi loAroni basebesenza njalo, njengokulaya kweNkosi; wasephakamisa intonga, watshaya amanzi ayesemfuleni phambi kwamehlo kaFaro laphambi kwamehlo ezinceku zakhe; lawo wonke amanzi ayesemfuleni aphendulwa aba ligazi.
21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. And there was blood throughout the land of Egypt.
Lenhlanzi ezisemfuleni zafa; lomfula waba levumba, kwaze kwathi amaGibhithe ehluleka ukuwanatha amanzi emfuleni; njalo kwakulegazi elizweni lonke leGibhithe.
22 But the magicians of Egypt did the same things by their magic arts. So Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.
Labalumbi beGibhithe benza njalo ngamalumbo abo, kwaze kwathi inhliziyo kaFaro yaba lukhuni, njalo kabalalelanga, njengokutsho kweNkosi.
23 Instead, Pharaoh turned around, went into his palace, and did not take any of this to heart.
UFaro wasetshibilika waya endlini yakhe njalo kayibekanga inhliziyo yakhe lakulokhu.
24 So all the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink, because they could not drink the water from the river.
LamaGibhithe wonke agebha amanzi okunatha inhlangothi zonke zomfula, ngoba babengelakunatha emanzini omfula.
25 And seven full days passed after the LORD had struck the Nile.
Lensuku eziyisikhombisa zagcwaliseka emva kokuthi iNkosi isitshaye umfula.
