Exodus 24

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD—you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of Israel’s elders—and you are to worship at a distance.

Dijo (Dios) a Moisés: “Sube a donde está Yahvé, tú, Aarón, Nadab y Abiú, con setenta de los ancianos de Israel, y adoraréis desde lejos.

2 Moses alone shall approach the LORD, but the others must not come near. And the people may not go up with him.”

Mas solo Moisés se acercará a Yahvé; ellos, en cambio, no se acercarán; tampoco subirá con él el pueblo.”

3 When Moses came and told the people all the words and ordinances of the LORD, they all responded with one voice: “All the words that the LORD has spoken, we will do.”

Vino, pues, Moisés y refirió al pueblo todas las palabras de Yahvé y todas sus leyes. Y todo el pueblo respondió a una voz: “Haremos todo cuanto ha dicho Yahvé.”

4 And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early the next morning he got up and built an altar at the base of the mountain, along with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.

Entonces escribió Moisés todas las palabras de Yahvé; y levantándose muy de mañana, erigió al pie del monte un altar y doce piedras según el número de las doce tribus de Israel.

5 Then he sent out some young men of Israel, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as peace offerings to the LORD.

Y mandó a algunos jóvenes, hijos de Israel, que ofreciesen holocaustos e inmolaran becerros como sacrificios pacíficos para Yahvé.

6 Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.

Tomó Moisés la mitad de la sangre y la echó en vasijas, y la otra mitad la derramó sobre el altar.

7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people, who replied, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”

Después tomó el libro de la Alianza y lo leyó ante el pueblo, el cual respondió: “Obedeceremos y haremos todo cuanto ha dicho Yahvé.”

8 So Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

Y tomando Moisés la sangre roció con ella al pueblo y dijo: “He aquí la sangre de la Alianza que Yahvé ha hecho con vosotros, a tenor de todas estas palabras.”

9 Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel,

Luego subió Moisés con Aarón, Nadab y Abiú y setenta de los ancianos de Israel.

10 and they saw the God of Israel. Under His feet was a work like a pavement made of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself.

Y vieron al Dios de Israel. Bajo sus pies había algo como un pavimento de zafiro tan puro como el mismo cielo.

11 But God did not lay His hand on the nobles of Israel; they saw Him, and they ate and drank.

Mas no extendió su mano contra los príncipes de Israel; los cuales vieron a Dios, y comieron y bebieron.

12 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay here, so that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”

Después dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Sube al monte, hacia Mí, y permanece allí, y te daré las tablas de piedra, con la ley y los mandamientos que tengo escritos para instrucción de ellos.”

13 So Moses set out with Joshua his attendant and went up on the mountain of God.

Se levantó, pues, Moisés, con Josué, su ministro; y cuando subió al monte de Dios,

14 And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. Aaron and Hur are here with you. Whoever has a dispute can go to them.”

dijo a los ancianos: “Esperadnos aquí hasta que volvamos a dónde estáis vosotros. Tenéis aquí a Aarón y a Hur. Quien tenga alguna cuestión recurra a ellos.

15 When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it,

Subió, pues, Moisés al monte, y la nube cubrió el monte.

16 and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered it, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud.

La gloria de Yahvé reposó sobre el monte Sinaí y la nube lo cubrió por seis días. Al séptimo día llamó Él a Moisés de en medio de la nube.

17 And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the mountaintop in the eyes of the Israelites.

Y parecía la gloria de Yahvé ante los ojos de los hijos de Israel como un fuego devorador sobre la cumbre del monte.

18 Moses entered the cloud as he went up on the mountain, and he remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

Moisés entró en la nube y subió al monte. Y permaneció Moisés en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches.
