< Deuteronomy 14 >

1 You are sons of the LORD your God; do not cut yourselves or shave your foreheads on behalf of the dead,
“Esi wònye Yehowa, miaƒe Mawu la ƒe amewo mienye ta la, migasi ŋuti na mia ɖokuiwo gbeɖegbeɖe abe ale si trɔ̃subɔlawo wɔna ne wole woƒe legbawo subɔm la ene o. Gawu la, ne ame ku la, mele be mialũ miaƒe ŋgonu kple dzodome o.
2 for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD has chosen you to be a people for His prized possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.
Yehowa, miaƒe Mawu la ɖeɖe ko tɔe mienye. Eyae tia mi be mianye ye tɔ wu dukɔ bubu ɖe sia ɖe le xexea me.
3 You must not eat any detestable thing.
“Migaɖu nu siwo ŋuti mekɔ o la dometɔ aɖeke o.
4 These are the animals that you may eat: The ox, the sheep, the goat,
Lã siwo miate ŋu aɖu la woe nye: nyi, alẽ, gbɔ̃,
5 the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.
zi, sẽ, afiã, gbɔ̃ si le gbe me, avugbɔ̃e kple alẽ si nɔa towo dzi.
6 You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud.
Miate ŋu aɖu lã siwo katã ƒe afɔkli me fe, eye wodzɔa nu gaɖuna.
7 But of those that chew the cud or have a completely divided hoof, you are not to eat the following: the camel, the rabbit, or the rock badger. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof. They are unclean for you,
Ke lã siwo ƒe afɔkli me fe alo woɖua nu gadzɔna la, migaɖu esiawo ya o, woawoe nye kposɔ, fɔmizi kple xɔfie, elabena togbɔ be wodzɔa nu gaɖuna hã la, woƒe afɔkli me mefe ɖe eve o, eya ta wonye lã makɔmakɔwo.
8 as well as the pig; though it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. It is unclean for you. You must not eat its meat or touch its carcass.
Nenema ke, migaɖu ha hã o, elabena togbɔ be eƒe afɔkli me fe hã la, medzɔa nu gaɖuna o. Mele be miaka asi lã siawo ƒe kukuawo gɔ̃ hã ŋu o.
9 Of all the creatures that live in the water, you may eat anything with fins and scales,
“Tɔmelã siwo ko miekpɔ mɔ aɖu la woe nye esiwo ŋu adza kple tsro le.
10 but you may not eat anything that does not have fins and scales; it is unclean for you.
Ke tɔmelã bubuawo katã siwo ŋu tsro kple adza mele o la nye nu makɔmakɔwo; migaɖu wo o.
11 You may eat any clean bird,
Miekpɔ mɔ aɖu xe ɖe sia ɖe si ŋuti kɔ
12 but these you may not eat: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,
negbe hɔ̃, akaga, akpɔ̃,
13 the red kite, the falcon, any kind of kite,
doɖi, aʋako dzĩtɔ kple yibɔtɔwo, akpaviã ƒomevi vovowo, ayisu ƒomevi ɖe sia ɖe,
14 any kind of raven,
akpaviã ƒomevi ɖe sia ɖe,
15 the ostrich, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,
golo, sagbadre, tsalɛ̃ kple aʋako ƒomevi ɖe sia ɖe,
16 the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,
ʋlukuku, favieʋuto kple aŋɔɣi,
17 the desert owl, the osprey, the cormorant,
aluge, akaga kple tsimese,
18 the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, or the bat.

19 All flying insects are unclean for you; they may not be eaten.
“Nudzodzoewo katã kloe nye nu makɔmakɔwo, eya ta miekpɔ mɔ aɖu wo o.
20 But you may eat any clean bird.
Ke miekpɔ mɔ aɖu xe siwo katã ŋu kɔ.
21 You are not to eat any carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
“Migaɖu naneke si ku le eɖokui si o, Ke amedzro si le mia dome la ate ŋu aɖui. Miate ŋu atsɔe nɛ alo adzrae nɛ, gake miawo ŋutɔ ya migaɖui o, elabena mienye dukɔ kɔkɔe na Yehowa, miaƒe Mawu la. “Migaɖa gbɔ̃vi le dadaa ƒe notsi me o.”
22 You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
“Ele be miana miaƒe agblemenukuwo ƒe ewolia ƒe sia ƒe pɛpɛpɛ.
23 And you are to eat a tenth of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks, in the presence of the LORD your God at the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
Mitsɔ agblemenukuwo ƒe ewolia sia va ɖu le Yehowa, mia Mawu la ŋkume le teƒe si wòatia abe eƒe kɔkɔeƒe ene. Nu siawoe nye miaƒe bli, wain yeye, ami kple miaƒe alẽwo kple nyiwo ƒe ŋgɔgbeviwo. Nu ewolia nana ƒe taɖodzinue nye be, miatsɔ teƒe gbãtɔ na Yehowa, miaƒe Mawu la le miaƒe agbenɔnɔ me.
24 But if the distance is too great for you to carry that with which the LORD your God has blessed you, because the place where the LORD your God will choose to put His Name is too far away,

25 then exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.
ekema miate ŋu adzra miaƒe agblemenukuwo kple lãwo ƒe ewolia, eye miatsɔ ga la ayi Yehowa miaƒe Mawu ƒe kɔkɔeƒe la.
26 Then you may spend the money on anything you desire: cattle, sheep, wine, strong drink, or anything you wish. You are to feast there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice with your household.
Ne mieɖo afi ma la, ekema mitsɔ ga la ƒle nyitsu ɖeka kple alẽ ɖeka, eye miadze wain alo aha sesẽ aɖe, miaɖu nu le afi ma le Yehowa, miaƒe Mawu la ŋkume, eye miatso aseye kple miaƒe aƒemetɔwo.
27 And do not neglect the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.
“Migaŋlɔ be, eye miagbe miaƒe ga la ƒe akpa aɖe nana Levitɔ siwo le mia dome o, elabena domenyinu alo agblemenuku aɖeke mele woawo si abe miawo ene o.
28 At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates.
“Le ƒe etɔ̃lia ɖe sia ɖe me la, ele be miawɔ miaƒe nuwo ƒe ewolia katã ŋu dɔ hena dɔwɔwɔ le miaƒe nutowo me.
29 Then the Levite (because he has no portion or inheritance among you), the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates may come and eat and be satisfied. And the LORD your God will bless you in all the work of your hands.
Mitsɔe na Levitɔwo, ame siwo si domenyinu aɖeke mele le mia dome o alo miatsɔ wo ana amedzro, ahosi alo tsyɔ̃evi siwo le miaƒe du me ale be woaɖu nu aɖi ƒo. Ekema Yehowa, miaƒe Mawu la ayra mi kple miaƒe dɔwɔwɔwo.”
