Amos 2
1 This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Moab, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because he burned to lime the bones of Edom’s king.
Ainsi parle Yahweh: A cause de trois crimes de Moab, et à cause de quatre, — je ne le révoquerai point. Parce qu'il à brûlé les os du roi d'Edom jusqu'à les calciner,
2 So I will send fire against Moab to consume the citadels of Kerioth. Moab will die in tumult, amid war cries and the sound of the ram’s horn.
j'enverrai le feu dans Moab, et il dévorera les palais de Carioth; et Moab mourra au milieu du tumulte, des cris de guerre, du son de la trompette.
3 I will cut off the ruler of Moab and kill all the officials with him,”
J'exterminerai de son sein le Juge, et j'égorgerai avec lui tous ses princes, dit Yahweh.
4 This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Judah, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they reject the Law of the LORD and fail to keep His statutes; they are led astray by the lies in which their fathers walked.
Ainsi parle Yahweh: A cause de trois crimes de Juda, et à cause de quatre, — je ne le révoquerai point. Parce qu'ils ont rejeté la loi de Yahweh, et qu'ils n'ont pas gardé ses ordonnances, et que leurs idoles de mensonge les ont égarés, celles que leurs pères avaient suivies,
5 So I will send fire upon Judah to consume the citadels of Jerusalem.”
j'enverrai le feu en Juda, et il dévorera les palais de Jérusalem.
6 This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Israel, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they sell the righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals.
Ainsi parle Yahweh: A cause de trois crimes d'Israël, et à cause de quatre, — je ne le révoquerai point. Parce qu'ils vendent le juste à prix d'argent, et l'indigent à cause d'une paire de sandales;
7 They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the earth; they push the needy out of their way. A man and his father have relations with the same girl and so profane My holy name.
parce qu'ils aspirent à voir la poussière de la terre sur la tête des misérables, et qu'ils font fléchir la voie des petits; parce que le fils et son père vont vers la même fille, pour profaner mon saint nom;
8 They lie down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge. And in the house of their God, they drink wine obtained through fines.
parce qu'ils s'étendent sur des vêtements reçus en gage, à côté de tous les autels, et qu'ils boivent le vin de ceux qu'ils ont frappés d'amende, dans la maison de leur Dieu.
9 Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, though his height was like that of the cedars, and he was as strong as the oaks. Yet I destroyed his fruit above and his roots below.
Et pourtant j'avais détruit devant eux l'Amorrhéen, dont la hauteur était comme celle des cèdres, et qui était fort comme les chênes; j'avais détruit son fruit en haut, et ses racines en bas.
10 And I brought you up from the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness, that you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.
Et pourtant je vous avais fait monter du pays d'Egypte, et je vous avais conduits quarante ans dans le désert, pour vous mettre en possession du pays de l'Amorrhéen.
11 I raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Is this not true, O children of Israel?”
J'avais suscité parmi vos fils des prophètes, et parmi vos jeunes gens des nazaréens, — n'en est-il pas ainsi, enfants d'Israël? — oracle de Yahweh.
12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not to prophesy.
Mais vous avez fait boire du vin aux nazaréens et vous avez donné cet ordre aux prophètes: " Ne prophétisez pas "!
13 Behold, I am about to crush you in your place as with a cart full of grain.
Voici que je vais vous fouler, comme foule la terre un chariot, quand il est rempli de gerbes.
14 Escape will fail the swift, the strong will not prevail by his strength, and the mighty will not save his life.
La fuite manquera à l'homme agile, et le vigoureux ne trouvera plus sa force; et le vaillant ne sauvera pas sa vie,
15 The archer will not stand his ground, the fleet of foot will not escape, and the horseman will not save his life.
et celui qui manie l'arc ne résistera pas; et l'homme aux pieds agiles ne se sauvera pas, et le cavalier ne sauvera pas sa vie.
16 Even the bravest of mighty men will flee naked on that day,”
Et le plus courageux d'entre les braves s'enfuira tout nu en ce jour-là, — oracle de Yahweh.
