Acts 9
1 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord. He approached the high priest
Mas Saulo, ainda respirando ameaças e massacres contra os discípulos do Senhor, foi ao sumo sacerdote
2 and requested letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any men or women belonging to the Way, he could bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
e pediu-lhe cartas às sinagogas de Damasco, para que, se encontrasse algum que fosse do Caminho, fosse homem ou mulher, pudesse levá-los presos a Jerusalém.
3 As Saul drew near to Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.
Enquanto viajava, aproximou-se de Damasco, e de repente uma luz do céu brilhou ao seu redor.
4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?”
Ele caiu na terra, e ouviu uma voz que lhe dizia: “Saulo, Saulo, por que você me persegue?
5 “Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” He replied.
Ele disse: “Quem és tu, Senhor?” O Senhor disse: “Eu sou Jesus, a quem vocês estão perseguindo.
6 “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Mas levantai-vos e entrai na cidade, então vos será dito o que deveis fazer”.
7 The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless. They heard the voice but did not see anyone.
Os homens que viajaram com ele ficaram sem palavras, ouvindo o som, mas não vendo ninguém.
8 Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could not see a thing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus.
Saul levantou-se do chão, e quando seus olhos foram abertos, ele não viu ninguém. Eles o conduziram pela mão e o trouxeram para Damasco.
9 For three days he was without sight, and he did not eat or drink anything.
Ele ficou sem visão por três dias, e não comeu nem bebeu.
10 In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Here I am, Lord,” he answered.
Agora havia um certo discípulo em Damasco chamado Ananias. O Senhor lhe disse em uma visão: “Ananias!”. Ele disse: “Eis que sou eu, Senhor”.
11 “Get up!” the Lord told him. “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.
O Senhor disse-lhe: “Levanta-te e vai para a rua que se chama Reto, e pergunta na casa de Judá por um chamado Saulo, um homem de Tarso”. Pois eis que ele está orando,
12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”
e numa visão ele viu um homem chamado Ananias entrando e impondo suas mãos sobre ele, para que ele pudesse receber sua visão”.
13 But Ananias answered, “Lord, many people have told me about this man and all the harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.
Mas Ananias respondeu: “Senhor, tenho ouvido de muitos sobre este homem, quanto mal ele fez a seus santos em Jerusalém”.
14 And now he is here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on Your name.”
Aqui ele tem autoridade dos chefes dos sacerdotes para prender a todos os que invocam seu nome”.
15 “Go!” said the Lord. “This man is My chosen instrument to carry My name before the Gentiles and their kings, and before the people of Israel.
Mas o Senhor lhe disse: “Vá seu caminho, pois ele é meu vaso escolhido para levar meu nome diante das nações e dos reis, e dos filhos de Israel”.
16 I will show him how much he must suffer for My name.”
Pois eu lhe mostrarei quantas coisas ele deve sofrer por causa do meu nome”.
17 So Ananias went to the house, and when he arrived, he placed his hands on Saul. “Brother Saul,” he said, “the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here, has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Ananias partiu e entrou na casa. Impondo suas mãos sobre ele, ele disse: “Irmão Saul, o Senhor, que te apareceu no caminho pelo qual vieste, enviou-me para que recebesses tua visão e fosses cheio do Espírito Santo”.
18 At that instant, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and his sight was restored. He got up and was baptized,
Imediatamente algo como uma balança caiu de seus olhos, e ele recebeu sua visão. Ele se levantou e foi batizado.
19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength. And he spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.
Ele tomou comida e foi fortalecido. Saulo ficou vários dias com os discípulos que estavam em Damasco.
20 Saul promptly began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, declaring, “He is the Son of God.”
Imediatamente nas sinagogas, ele proclamou o Cristo, que ele é o Filho de Deus.
21 All who heard him were astounded and asked, “Isn’t this the man who wreaked havoc in Jerusalem on those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?”
Todos os que o ouviram ficaram espantados e disseram: “Não é este aquele que, em Jerusalém, fez estragos com aqueles que invocavam este nome? E ele tinha vindo aqui com a intenção de trazê-los presos diante dos chefes dos sacerdotes”!
22 But Saul was empowered all the more, and he confounded the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.
Mas Saulo aumentou mais em força, e confundiu os judeus que viviam em Damasco, provando que este é o Cristo.
23 After many days had passed, the Jews conspired to kill him,
Quando muitos dias foram cumpridos, os judeus conspiraram juntos para matá-lo,
24 but Saul learned of their plot. Day and night they watched the city gates in order to kill him.
mas sua trama ficou conhecida de Saulo. Eles observavam os portões dia e noite para poderem matá-lo,
25 One night, however, his disciples took him and lowered him in a basket through a window in the wall.
mas seus discípulos o levaram pela noite e o decepcionaram através do muro, baixando-o em uma cesta.
26 When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
Quando Saulo chegou a Jerusalém, ele tentou se juntar aos discípulos; mas todos tinham medo dele, não acreditando que fosse um discípulo.
27 Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and described how Saul had seen the Lord, who spoke to him on the road to Damascus, and how Saul had spoken boldly in that city in the name of Jesus.
Mas Barnabé o tomou e o trouxe até os apóstolos, e lhes declarou como havia visto o Senhor no caminho, e que havia falado com ele, e como em Damasco havia pregado corajosamente em nome de Jesus.
28 So Saul stayed with them, moving about freely in Jerusalem and speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.
Ele estava com eles entrando em Jerusalém,
29 He talked and debated with the Grecian Jews, but they tried to kill him.
preaching corajosamente em nome do Senhor Jesus. Ele falou e disputou contra os helenistas, mas eles estavam procurando matá-lo.
30 When the brothers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.
Quando os irmãos souberam disso, o levaram para Cesaréia e o enviaram para Tarso.
31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced a time of peace. It grew in strength and numbers, living in the fear of the Lord and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit.
Assim, as assembléias em toda a Judéia, Galiléia e Samaria tiveram paz e foram construídas. Elas foram multiplicadas, caminhando no temor do Senhor e no conforto do Espírito Santo.
32 As Peter traveled throughout the area, he went to visit the saints in Lydda.
Enquanto Peter ia por todas essas partes, ele desceu também para os santos que viviam em Lydda.
33 There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years.
Lá ele encontrou um certo homem chamado Enéas, que tinha estado acamado por oito anos porque estava paralisado.
34 “Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you! Get up and put away your mat.” Immediately Aeneas got up,
Pedro lhe disse: “Enéas, Jesus Cristo te cura”. Levante-se e faça sua cama”. Imediatamente ele se levantou.
35 and all who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
Todos os que viviam em Lydda e em Sharon o viram, e se voltaram para o Senhor.
36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which is translated as Dorcas), who was always occupied with works of kindness and charity.
Agora havia em Joppa um certo discípulo chamado Tabitha, que quando traduzido significa Dorcas. Esta mulher estava cheia de boas obras e atos de misericórdia que ela fez.
37 At that time, however, she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upper room.
Naqueles dias, ela ficou doente e morreu. Quando a haviam lavado, a colocaram em uma sala superior.
38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to urge him, “Come to us without delay.”
Como Lydda estava perto de Joppa, os discípulos, ouvindo que Pedro estava lá, mandaram dois homens até ele, implorando-lhe que não demorasse em vir até eles.
39 So Peter got up and went with them. On his arrival, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood around him, weeping and showing him the tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
Peter se levantou e foi com eles. Quando ele chegou, eles o trouxeram para a sala de cima. Todas as viúvas ficaram ao seu lado chorando e mostrando as túnicas e outras vestes que Dorcas tinha feito enquanto estava com elas.
40 Then Peter sent them all out of the room. He knelt down and prayed, and turning toward her body, he said, “Tabitha, get up!” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up.
Peter enviou a todas elas, ajoelhou-se e rezou. Voltando-se para o corpo, ele disse: “Tabitha, levante-se!”. Ela abriu os olhos, e quando viu Peter, sentou-se.
41 Peter took her by the hand and helped her up. Then he called the saints and widows and presented her to them alive.
Ele deu a ela sua mão e a levantou. Chamando os santos e as viúvas, ele a apresentou viva.
42 This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
Isto se tornou conhecido em toda Joppa, e muitos acreditavam no Senhor.
43 And Peter stayed for several days in Joppa with a tanner named Simon.
Ele ficou muitos dias em Joppa com um curtidor chamado Simon.
