Acts 8
1 And Saul was there, giving approval to Stephen’s death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
ଶାଉଲ, ସ୍ତିଫାନଙ୍କ ହତ୍ୟାରେ ଏକମତ ଥିଲେ। ସେହି ଦିନ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରରେ ଥିବା ମଣ୍ଡଳୀ ପ୍ରତି ଅତିଶୟ ତାଡ଼ନା ଘଟିଲା; ସେଥିରେ ପ୍ରେରିତମାନଙ୍କ ଛଡ଼ା ଅନ୍ୟସମସ୍ତେ ଯିହୂଦିୟା ପ୍ରଦେଶ ଓ ଶମିରୋଣ ଅଞ୍ଚଳ ସମୂହର ଚାରିଆଡ଼େ ଛିନ୍ନଭିନ୍ନ ହୋଇଗଲେ।
2 God-fearing men buried Stephen and mourned deeply over him.
ତଥାପି କେତେକ ଭକ୍ତ ଲୋକମାନେ ସ୍ତିଫାନଙ୍କୁ ସମାଧି ଦେଇ ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ବହୁତ ବିଳାପ କଲେ।
3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.
କିନ୍ତୁ ଶାଉଲ ଘରେ ଘରେ ପଶି ବିଶ୍ୱାସୀ ପୁରୁଷ ଓ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଟାଣିଆଣି କାରାଗାରରେ ନିକ୍ଷେପ କରି ମଣ୍ଡଳୀକୁ ଧ୍ୱଂସ କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ।
4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.
ସେଥିରେ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଛିନ୍ନଭିନ୍ନ ହୋଇଥିଲେ, ସେମାନେ ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦିଗରେ ଭ୍ରମଣ କରୁ କରୁ ସୁସମାଚାରର ବାକ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଚାର କଲେ।
5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ to them.
ପୁଣି, ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ଶମିରୋଣର ପ୍ରଧାନ ନଗରକୁ ଯାଇ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କୁ ଘୋଷଣା କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ।
6 The crowds gave their undivided attention to Philip’s message and to the signs they saw him perform.
ଆଉ ଲୋକସମୂହ ଫିଲିପ୍ପଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣି ଓ ସେ କରିଥିବା ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟକର୍ମଗୁଡ଼ିକ ଦେଖି ଏକଚିତ୍ତରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ କଥାରେ ମନୋଯୋଗ କରୁଥିଲେ।
7 With loud shrieks, unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, and many of the paralyzed and lame were healed.
କାରଣ ଅଶୁଚି ଆତ୍ମାବିଷ୍ଟ ଅନେକ ଲୋକଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସେହି ଆତ୍ମାଗୁଡ଼ାକ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ ଚିତ୍କାର କରି ବାହାରିଆସିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, ପୁଣି, ଅନେକ ପକ୍ଷାଘାତରୋଗୀ ଓ ଖଞ୍ଜ ସୁସ୍ଥ ହେଲେ।
8 So there was great joy in that city.
ସେଥିରେ ସେ ନଗରରେ ମହା ଆନନ୍ଦ ହେଲା।
9 Prior to that time, a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and astounded the people of Samaria. He claimed to be someone great,
କିନ୍ତୁ ଶିମୋନ ନାମକ ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ଏଥିପୂର୍ବେ ସେହି ନଗରରେ କୁହୁକକର୍ମ କରି ନିଜକୁ ଜଣେ ମହାପୁରୁଷ ବୋଲି କହି ଶମିରୋଣୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଚମ୍ଭିତ କରୁଥିଲା;
10 and all the people, from the least to the greatest, heeded his words and said, “This man is the divine power called the Great Power.”
ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କର ଯେଉଁ ଶକ୍ତିକୁ ମହାନ ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ, ସାନଠାରୁ ବଡ଼ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସମସ୍ତେ ଏ ସେହି ବୋଲି କହି ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ମାନ୍ୟ କରୁଥିଲେ।
11 They paid close attention to him because he had astounded them for a long time with his sorcery.
ସେମାନେ ତାହାକୁ ମାନ୍ୟ କରୁଥିବାର କାରଣ ଏହି ଯେ, ସେ ବହୁକାଳ ହେଲା ନିଜ କୁହୁକକର୍ମ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଚମ୍ଭିତ କରିଥିଲା।
12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the gospel of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
କିନ୍ତୁ ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଓ ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ନାମ ବିଷୟକ ସୁସମାଚାର ପ୍ରଚାର କରିବାରୁ ସେମାନେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ତାହାଙ୍କ କଥାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ପୁରୁଷ ଓ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଉଭୟ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ।
13 Even Simon himself believed and was baptized. He followed Philip closely and was astounded by the great signs and miracles he observed.
ଆଉ, ଶିମୋନ ନିଜେ ମଧ୍ୟ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରି ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେଲା ଓ ଫିଲିପ୍ପଙ୍କ ସାଥେ ସାଥେ ରହିଲା, ଆଉ ନାନା ଲକ୍ଷଣ ଓ ମହା ମହା ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟର କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଦେଖି ଆଚମ୍ଭିତ ହେବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲା।
14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.
ଶମିରୋଣର ଲୋକମାନେ ଯେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ଏହା ଯେତେବେଳେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରରେ ଥିବା ପ୍ରେରିତମାନେ ଶୁଣିଲେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନେ ପିତର ଓ ଯୋହନଙ୍କୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲେ।
15 On their arrival, they prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit.
ସେମାନେ ଯାଇ, ସେହି ଲୋକମାନେ ଯେପରି ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ଏଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କଲେ,
16 For the Holy Spirit had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
କାରଣ ଏପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କାହାରି ଉପରେ ଆସି ନ ଥିଲେ, କେବଳ ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମରେ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ।
17 Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
ସେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ହସ୍ତାର୍ପଣ କଲେ, ଆଉ ସେମାନେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହେଲେ।
18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money.
ପ୍ରେରିତମାନଙ୍କର ହସ୍ତାର୍ପଣ ଦ୍ୱାରା ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ଆସୁଥିବା ଦେଖି, ଶିମୋନ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଟଙ୍କା ଯାଚି କହିଲା,
19 “Give me this power as well,” he said, “so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
ମୋତେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଏହି ଶକ୍ତି ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ, ଯେପରି ମୁଁ ଯେକୌଣସି ଲୋକ ଉପରେ ହସ୍ତାର୍ପଣ କରିବି, ସେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ପାଇବ।
20 But Peter replied, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!
କିନ୍ତୁ ପିତର ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଟଙ୍କା ତୁମ୍ଭ ସହିତ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେଉ, କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଟଙ୍କା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଦାନ କିଣିବାକୁ ଭାବିଲ।
21 You have no part or share in our ministry, because your heart is not right before God.
ଏହି ବିଷୟରେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଅଂଶ ନାହିଁ କି ଅଧିକାର ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ହୃଦୟ ସରଳ ନୁହେଁ।
22 Repent, therefore, of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for the intent of your heart.
ଅତଏବ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଏହି ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ପଣରୁ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରି ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କର, କେଜାଣି ଅବା ତୁମ୍ଭ ହୃଦୟର କଳ୍ପନା କ୍ଷମା ହୋଇପାରେ;
23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and captive to iniquity.”
କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତିକ୍ତ ବିଷରେ ପରିପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୋଇ ଅଧର୍ମରୂପ ବନ୍ଧନରେ ଆବଦ୍ଧ ଅଛ ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ଦେଖୁଅଛି।
24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me, so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”
ସେଥିରେ ଶିମୋନ ଉତ୍ତର କଲା, ଆପଣମାନେ ଯାହା ଯାହା କହିଲେ, ସେଥିରୁ କୌଣସି ବିଷୟ ଯେପରି ମୋ ପ୍ରତି ନ ଘଟେ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଆପଣମାନେ ମୋ ନିମନ୍ତେ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରନ୍ତୁ।
25 And after Peter and John had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many of the Samaritan villages.
ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ସେମାନେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେଇ ଓ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ କହି ଶମିରୋଣୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଅନେକ ଗ୍ରାମରେ ସୁସମାଚାର ପ୍ରଚାର କରୁ କରୁ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରକୁ ବାହୁଡ଼ିଗଲେ।
26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go south to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”
ପରେ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଜଣେ ଦୂତ ଫିଲିପ୍ପଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଉଠ, ଦକ୍ଷିଣ ଦିଗରେ ଯେଉଁ ପଥ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରରୁ ଗଜ୍ଜା ସହର ଆଡ଼କୁ ଯାଇଅଛି, ସେହି ପଥକୁ ଯାଅ। ତାହା ମରୁଭୂମି।
27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship,
ସେଥିରେ ସେ ଉଠି ଗମନ କଲେ। ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ଇଥିଓପିଆ ଦେଶୀୟମାନଙ୍କ କାଣ୍ଡାକୀ ନାମ୍ନୀ ରାଣୀଙ୍କର ଅଧୀନସ୍ଥ ଜଣେ ଉଚ୍ଚପଦ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ଇଥିଓପିଆର ନପୁଂସକ, ଯେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସମସ୍ତ ଥିଲେ, ସେ ଉପାସନା କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରକୁ ଆସିଥିଲେ;
28 and on his return was sitting in his chariot reading Isaiah the prophet.
ସେ ବାହୁଡ଼ି ଯାଉ ଯାଉ ଆପଣା ରଥରେ ବସି ଯିଶାଇୟ ଭାବବାଦୀଙ୍କ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରପାଠ କରୁଥିଲେ।
29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to that chariot and stay by it.”
ସେତେବେଳେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ଫିଲିପ୍ପଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଇ ଏହି ରଥର ସାଙ୍ଗ ଧର।
30 So Philip ran up and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
ସେଥିରେ ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ଦୌଡ଼ିଯାଇ ସେ ଯିଶାଇୟ ଭାବବାଦୀଙ୍କ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ପାଠ କରୁଥିବା ଶୁଣି ପଚାରିଲେ, ଆପଣ ଯାହା ପାଠ କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହା କଅଣ ବୁଝୁଅଛନ୍ତି?
31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
ସେ କହିଲେ, କେହି ମୋତେ ବୁଝାଇ ନ ଦେଲେ ମୁଁ କିପରି ବୁଝି ପାରିବି? ଆଉ, ସେ ଫିଲିପ୍ପଙ୍କୁ ରଥରେ ଚଢ଼ି ଆସି ଆପଣା ନିକଟରେ ବସିବାକୁ ବିନତି କଲେ।
32 The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so He did not open His mouth.
ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର ଯେଉଁ ଅଂଶ ସେ ପାଠ କରୁଥିଲେ, ତାହା ଏହି, “ସେ ମେଷ ତୁଲ୍ୟ ହତ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ନିଆଗଲେ ପୁଣି, ଲୋମଚ୍ଛେଦକ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ମେଷଶାବକ ଯେପରି ନୀରବ ରୁହେ, ସେହିପରି ସେ ଆପଣା ମୁଖ ଫିଟାଇଲେ ନାହିଁ।
33 In His humiliation He was deprived of justice. Who can recount His descendants? For His life was removed from the earth.”
ତାହାଙ୍କ ଅବନତ ହେବାରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଅପସାରିତ ହେଲା; ତାହାଙ୍କ ବଂଶ କିଏ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା କରିପାରିବ? କାରଣ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରାଣ ପୃଥିବୀରୁ ଅପସାରିତ ହେଲା।”
34 “Tell me,” said the eunuch, “who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?”
ନପୁଂସକ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଇ ଫିଲିପ୍ପଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ନିବେଦନ କରେ, ଭାବବାଦୀ କାହା ବିଷୟରେ ଏ କଥା କହନ୍ତି? ଆପଣା ବା ଆଉ କାହା ବିଷୟରେ?
35 Then Philip began with this very Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
ସେଥିରେ ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ମୁଖ ଫିଟାଇ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟରୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ସୁସମାଚାର ପ୍ରଚାର କଲେ।
36 As they traveled along the road and came to some water, the eunuch said, “Look, here is water! What is there to prevent me from being baptized?”
ଆଉ ସେମାନେ ପଥରେ ଯାଉ ଯାଉ କୌଣସି ଗୋଟିଏ ଜଳାଶୟ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ; ସେଥିରେ ନପୁଂସକ କହିଲେ, ଏଠାରେ ତ ଜଳ ଅଛି, ମୋହର ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ କଅଣ ବାଧା ଅଛି?
[ଫିଲିପ୍ପ କହିଲେ, ଆପଣ ସମସ୍ତ ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣ ସହିତ ଯଦି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରନ୍ତି, ତାହାହେଲେ ହୋଇପାରେ। ସେଥିରେ ସେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଯେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଏହା ମୁଁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରୁଅଛି।]
38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.
ପୁଣି, ସେ ରଥ ଠିଆ କରିବାକୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଲେ, ଆଉ ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ଓ ନପୁଂସକ ଉଭୟ ଜଳ ଭିତରକୁ ଓହ୍ଲାଇଗଲେ, ଆଉ ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେଲେ।
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, but went on his way rejoicing.
ସେମାନେ ଜଳ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଉଠି ଆସନ୍ତେ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଆତ୍ମା ଫିଲିପ୍ପଙ୍କୁ ଘେନିଗଲେ, ପୁଣି, ନପୁଂସକ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଆଉ ଦେଖିଲେ ନାହିଁ; ତଥାପି ସେ ଆନନ୍ଦ କରୁ କରୁ ଆପଣା ପଥରେ ଚାଲିଗଲେ।
40 But Philip appeared at Azotus and traveled through that region, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he came to Caesarea.
କିନ୍ତୁ ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ଅଷ୍ଦୋଦ୍ ନାମକ ନଗରରେ ଦେଖାଗଲେ, ଆଉ ସେ ଯାଉ ଯାଉ ନଗରେ ନଗରେ ସୁସମାଚାର ପ୍ରଚାର କରି କାଇସରିୟାରେ ଯାଇ ପହଞ୍ଚିଲେ।
