Acts 21
1 After we had torn ourselves away from them, we sailed directly to Cos, and the next day on to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.
Quando partimos deles e navegamos, viemos com um rumo direto para Cos, e no dia seguinte para Rodes, e de lá para Patara.
2 Finding a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we boarded it and set sail.
Having encontramos um navio atravessando para a Fenícia, fomos a bordo e zarpamos.
3 After sighting Cyprus and passing south of it, we sailed on to Syria and landed at Tyre, where the ship was to unload its cargo.
Quando chegamos a Chipre, deixando-o à esquerda, navegamos para a Síria e pousamos em Tyre, pois o navio estava lá para descarregar sua carga.
4 We sought out the disciples in Tyre and stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they kept telling Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.
Tendo encontrado discípulos, ficamos lá sete dias. Estes disseram a Paulo através do Espírito que ele não deveria subir a Jerusalém.
5 But when our time there had ended, we set out on our journey. All the disciples, with their wives and children, accompanied us out of the city and knelt down on the beach to pray with us.
Quando esses dias terminaram, partimos e seguimos viagem. Todos eles, com esposas e filhos, nos trouxeram a caminho até que saímos da cidade. Ajoelhados na praia, rezamos.
6 And after we had said our farewells, we went aboard the ship, and they returned home.
Depois de nos despedirmos um do outro, entramos a bordo do navio e eles voltaram para casa novamente.
7 When we had finished our voyage from Tyre, we landed at Ptolemais, where we greeted the brothers and stayed with them for a day.
Quando terminamos a viagem de Tyre, chegamos a Ptolemais. Cumprimentamos os irmãos e ficamos com eles um dia.
8 Leaving the next day, we went on to Caesarea and stayed at the home of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the Seven.
No dia seguinte, nós, que éramos companheiros de Paulo, partimos e viemos para Cesaréia. Entramos na casa de Filipe, o evangelista, que era um dos sete, e ficamos com ele.
9 He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied.
Agora este homem tinha quatro filhas virgens que profetizavam.
10 After we had been there several days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.
Enquanto lá ficávamos alguns dias, um certo profeta chamado Agabus desceu da Judéia.
11 Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own feet and hands, and said, “The Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and hand him over to the Gentiles.’”
vindo até nós e tomando o cinto de Paulo, ele amarrou seus próprios pés e mãos, e disse: “O Espírito Santo diz: 'Então os judeus em Jerusalém amarrarão o homem a quem pertence este cinto, e o entregarão nas mãos dos gentios'”.
12 When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.
Quando ouvimos essas coisas, tanto nós quanto o povo daquele lugar imploramos para que ele não subisse a Jerusalém.
13 Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Então Paulo respondeu: “O que você está fazendo, chorando e partindo meu coração? Pois estou pronto não só a ser amarrado, mas também a morrer em Jerusalém pelo nome do Senhor Jesus”.
14 When he would not be dissuaded, we fell silent and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”
Quando ele não foi persuadido, paramos, dizendo: “Seja feita a vontade do Senhor”.
15 After these days, we packed up and went on to Jerusalem.
Depois desses dias, pegamos nossa bagagem e subimos para Jerusalém.
16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us, and they took us to stay at the home of Mnason the Cypriot, an early disciple.
Alguns dos discípulos de Cesaréia também foram conosco, trazendo um Mnason de Chipre, um discípulo primitivo, com quem nós ficaríamos.
17 When we arrived in Jerusalem, the brothers welcomed us joyfully.
Quando chegamos a Jerusalém, os irmãos nos receberam de bom grado.
18 The next day Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were present.
No dia seguinte, Paulo entrou conosco para James; e todos os anciãos estavam presentes.
19 Paul greeted them and recounted one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
Quando ele os saudou, relatou um a um as coisas que Deus havia trabalhado entre os gentios através de seu ministério.
20 When they heard this, they glorified God. Then they said to Paul, “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.
Eles, quando o ouviram, glorificaram a Deus. Disseram-lhe: “Vê, irmão, quantos milhares existem entre os judeus dos que acreditaram, e todos eles são zelosos pela lei.
21 But they are under the impression that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or observe our customs.
Eles foram informados sobre você, que você ensina todos os judeus que estão entre os gentios a abandonar Moisés, dizendo-lhes que não circuncidem seus filhos e que não andem atrás dos costumes.
22 What then should we do? They will certainly hear that you have come.
O que, então? A assembléia certamente deve se reunir, pois eles saberão que você veio.
23 Therefore do what we advise you. There are four men with us who have taken a vow.
Faça, portanto, o que lhe dissermos. Temos quatro homens que fizeram um voto.
24 Take these men, purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so they can have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know that there is no truth to these rumors about you, but that you also live in obedience to the law.
Leve-os e purifique-se com eles, e pague suas despesas por eles, para que possam raspar suas cabeças. Então todos saberão que não há verdade nas coisas que eles foram informados sobre você, mas que você mesmo também caminha cumprindo a lei.
25 As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality.”
Mas em relação aos gentios que acreditam, escrevemos nossa decisão de que eles não devem observar tal coisa, exceto que devem se manter afastados da comida oferecida aos ídolos, do sangue, das coisas estranguladas e da imoralidade sexual”.
26 So the next day Paul took the men and purified himself along with them. Then he entered the temple to give notice of the date when their purification would be complete and the offering would be made for each of them.
Então Paulo levou os homens, e no dia seguinte purificou-se e foi com eles ao templo, declarando o cumprimento dos dias de purificação, até que a oferenda fosse oferecida por cada um deles.
27 When the seven days were almost over, some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul at the temple. They stirred up the whole crowd and seized him,
Quando os sete dias estavam quase completos, os judeus da Ásia, quando o viram no templo, agitaram toda a multidão e colocaram as mãos sobre ele,
28 crying out, “Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who teaches everywhere against our people and against our law and against this place. Furthermore, he has brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this holy place.”
gritando: “Homens de Israel, ajudem! Este é o homem que ensina todos os homens em toda parte contra o povo, e contra a lei, e contra este lugar. Além disso, ele também trouxe gregos para o templo e profanou este lugar sagrado”!
29 For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they assumed that Paul had brought him into the temple.
Pois eles tinham visto Trófimo, o Éfeso, com ele na cidade, e supunham que Paulo o tinha trazido ao templo.
30 The whole city was stirred up, and the people rushed together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut.
Toda a cidade foi movida e as pessoas correram juntas. Eles apreenderam Paul e o arrastaram para fora do templo. Imediatamente as portas foram fechadas.
31 While they were trying to kill him, the commander of the Roman regiment received a report that all Jerusalem was in turmoil.
Enquanto tentavam matá-lo, chegou a notícia ao comandante do regimento de que toda Jerusalém estava em alvoroço.
32 Immediately he took some soldiers and centurions and ran down to the crowd. When the people saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
Imediatamente, ele pegou soldados e centuriões e correu até eles. Eles, quando viram o capitão chefe e os soldados, pararam de bater em Paulo.
33 The commander came up and arrested Paul, ordering that he be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done.
Então o comandante se aproximou, prendeu-o, ordenou que ele fosse amarrado com duas correntes e perguntou quem ele era e o que tinha feito.
34 Some in the crowd were shouting one thing, and some another. And since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, he ordered that Paul be brought into the barracks.
Alguns gritaram uma coisa e outros outra, entre a multidão. Quando ele não conseguiu descobrir a verdade por causa do barulho, ordenou que fosse levado para o quartel.
35 When Paul reached the steps, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob.
Quando chegou às escadas, ele foi carregado pelos soldados por causa da violência da multidão;
36 For the crowd that followed him kept shouting, “Away with him!”
para a multidão do povo que o seguia, gritando: “Fora com ele!
37 As they were about to take Paul into the barracks, he asked the commander, “May I say something to you?” “Do you speak Greek?” he replied.
Quando Paul estava prestes a ser levado para o quartel, ele perguntou ao comandante: “Posso falar com você?”. Ele disse: “Você sabe grego?
38 “Aren’t you the Egyptian who incited a rebellion some time ago and led four thousand members of the ‘Assassins’ into the wilderness?”
Você não é então o egípcio que antes destes dias agitou a sedição e levou ao deserto os quatro mil homens dos Assassinos?”
39 But Paul answered, “I am a Jew from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no ordinary city. Now I beg you to allow me to speak to the people.”
Mas Paulo disse: “Sou um judeu de Tarso na Cilícia, um cidadão de cidade não insignificante. Peço-lhe, permita-me falar com o povo”.
40 Having received permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd. A great hush came over the crowd, and he addressed them in Hebrew:
Quando ele lhe deu permissão, Paul, de pé nas escadas, acenou com a mão para o povo. Quando houve um grande silêncio, ele falou com eles na língua hebraica, dizendo,
