Acts 18
1 After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.
Después de estas cosas, se fue de Atenas y vino a Corinto.
2 There he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to visit them,
Y allí se encontró con un cierto judío llamado Aquila, un hombre de Ponto de nacimiento, que no mucho antes había venido de Italia con su esposa Priscila, porque Claudio había dado órdenes de que todos los judíos se fueran de Roma: y vino a ellos.
3 and he stayed and worked with them because they were tentmakers by trade, just as he was.
Y como era del mismo oficio, vivía con ellos, y ellos hicieron su trabajo juntos; porque de oficio eran fabricantes de tiendas.
4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks alike.
Y todos los sábados tenía discusiones en la sinagoga, convirtiendo judíos y griegos a la fe.
5 And when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself fully to the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.
Y cuando Silas y Timoteo descendieron de Macedonia, Pablo fue completamente entregado a la palabra, predicando a los judíos que el Cristo era Jesús.
6 But when they opposed and insulted him, he shook out his garments and told them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
Pero oponiéndose y blasfemando éstos, dijo, meneando sus vestidos, su sangre está sobre sus cabezas, limpio estoy; de ahora en adelante iré a los gentiles.
7 So Paul left the synagogue and went next door to the house of Titus Justus, a worshiper of God.
Y saliendo de allí, entró en la casa de un hombre llamado Justo, un hombre temeroso de Dios, cuya casa estaba muy cerca de la sinagoga.
8 Crispus, the synagogue leader, and his whole household believed in the Lord. And many of the Corinthians who heard the message believed and were baptized.
Y Crispo, el principal de la sinagoga, con toda su familia, tenía fe en el Señor; y un gran número de la gente de Corinto, al escuchar la palabra, creyeron y fueron bautizados.
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking; do not be silent.
Y el Señor dijo a Pablo en la noche, en visión: No temas y sigue predicando:
10 For I am with you and no one will lay a hand on you, because I have many people in this city.”
Porque yo estoy contigo, y nadie te atacará para hacerte daño; porque tengo un número de personas en esta ciudad.
11 So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching the word of God among the Corinthians.
Y estuvo allí por un año y seis meses, enseñando la palabra de Dios entre ellos.
12 While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews coordinated an attack on Paul and brought him before the judgment seat.
Pero cuando Galión era gobernador de Acaya, todos los judíos juntos atacaron a Pablo y lo llevaron al asiento del juez,
13 “This man is persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law,” they said.
diciendo: Este hombre está enseñando al pueblo a adorar a Dios de una manera contraria a la ley.
14 But just as Paul was about to speak, Gallio told the Jews, “If this matter involved a wrongdoing or vicious crime, O Jews, it would be reasonable for me to hear your complaint.
Pero cuando Pablo estaba a punto de decir algo, Galion le dijo a los judíos: si esto tenía que ver con la maldad o el crimen, habría una razón para que yo les diera una audiencia:
15 But since it is a dispute about words and names and your own law, settle it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of such things.”
Pero si es una cuestión de palabras o nombres o de su ley, véanse ustedes mismos; No seré un juez de tales cosas.
16 And he drove them away from the judgment seat.
Y los echó del tribunal.
17 At this, the crowd seized Sosthenes the synagogue leader and beat him in front of the judgment seat. But none of this was of concern to Gallio.
Y todos ellos atacaron a Sóstenes, principal de la sinagoga, y le propinaron golpes delante del trono del juez; pero Galión no le prestó atención a estas cosas.
18 Paul remained in Corinth for quite some time before saying goodbye to the brothers. He had his head shaved in Cenchrea to keep a vow he had made, and then he sailed for Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila.
Y Pablo, después de esperar algunos días, se fue de los hermanos y se fue en barco a Siria, estando Priscila y Aquila con él; y se había cortado el pelo en Cencrea, porque había hecho una promesa.
19 When they reached Ephesus, Paul parted ways with Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue there and reasoned with the Jews.
Y descendieron a Éfeso, y él los dejó allí; y él mismo fue a la sinagoga y tuvo una conversación con los judíos.
20 When they asked him to stay for a while longer, he declined.
Y cuando le pidieron que estuvieran allí por un tiempo más largo, él dijo: No;
21 But as he left, he said, “I will come back to you if God is willing.” And he set sail from Ephesus.
Y se fue de ellos, diciendo: Volveré a ustedes si Dios me deja; y él tomó el barco de Éfeso.
22 When Paul had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church at Jerusalem. Then he went down to Antioch.
Y cuando llegó a la tierra en Cesarea, fue a ver la iglesia, y luego descendió a Antioquía.
23 After Paul had spent some time in Antioch, he traveled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.
Y habiendo estado allí por algún tiempo, él pasó por el país de Galacia y Frigia en orden, haciendo a los discípulos fuertes en la fe.
24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the Scriptures.
Entonces un cierto judío llamado Apolos, un alejandrino de nacimiento, y un hombre de ciencia, vino a Efeso; y él tenía un gran conocimiento de las Sagradas Escrituras.
25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord and was fervent in spirit. He spoke and taught accurately about Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
Este hombre había sido entrenado en el camino del Señor; y ardiendo en espíritu, se entregó a enseñar con mucho entusiasmo los hechos acerca de Jesús, aunque sólo tenía conocimiento del bautismo de Juan
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him in and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
y estaba predicando en la sinagoga sin temor. Pero Priscila y Aquila, al escuchar sus palabras, lo llevaron aparte y le dieron enseñanzas más completas sobre el camino de Dios.
27 When Apollos resolved to cross over to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. On his arrival, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.
Y cuando tenía el deseo de ir a Acaya, los hermanos le animaron, y enviaron cartas a los discípulos pidiéndoles que lo recibiesen; y cuando llego allá fue de gran provecho, a los que por la gracia habían creído.
28 For he powerfully refuted the Jews in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
Porque él venció a los judíos en la discusión pública, basándose en las Sagradas Escrituras que el Cristo era Jesús.
