Acts 15
1 Then some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
Então alguns que tinham descido da Judea ensinavam os irmãos, dizendo: Se vos não circumcidardes, conforme o uso de Moysés, não podeis salvar-vos.
2 And after engaging these men in sharp debate, Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.
Feita pois por Paulo e Barnabé não pequena dissensão e contenda contra elles, resolveu-se que Paulo e Barnabé, e alguns d'entre elles, subissem a Jerusalem, aos apostolos e aos anciãos, sobre aquella questão.
3 Sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, recounting the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers.
De sorte que elles, acompanhados pela egreja, passavam pela Phenicia e por Samaria, contando a conversão dos gentios; e davam grande alegria a todos os irmãos.
4 On their arrival in Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and apostles and elders, to whom they reported all that God had done through them.
E, vindos a Jerusalem, foram recebidos pela egreja e pelos apostolos e anciãos, e lhes annunciavam quão grandes coisas Deus tinha feito com elles.
5 But some believers from the party of the Pharisees stood up and declared, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses.”
Porém alguns da seita dos phariseos, que tinham crido, se levantaram, dizendo que era mister circumcidal-os e mandar-lhes que guardassem a lei de Moysés.
6 So the apostles and elders met to look into this matter.
Congregaram-se pois os apostolos e os anciãos para examinar este negocio.
7 After much discussion, Peter got up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you that the Gentiles would hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.
E, havendo grande contenda, levanou-se Pedro e disse-lhes: Varões irmãos, bem sabeis que já ha muito tempo Deus me elegeu d'entre nós, para que os gentios ouvissem da minha bocca a palavra do evangelho, e cressem.
8 And God, who knows the heart, showed His approval by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as He did to us.
E Deus, que conhece os corações, deu testemunho d'elles, dando-lhes o Espirito Sancto, assim como tambem a nós;
9 He made no distinction between us and them, for He cleansed their hearts by faith.
E não fez differença alguma entre elles e nós, purificando os seus corações pela fé.
10 Now then, why do you test God by placing on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?
Agora, pois, porque tentaes a Deus, pondo sobre a cerviz dos discipulos um jugo que nem nossos paes nem nós podémos supportar?
11 On the contrary, we believe it is through the grace of the Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”
Antes crêmos que seremos salvos pela graça do Senhor Jesus Christo, como elles tambem.
12 The whole assembly fell silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.
Então toda a multidão se calou, e escutava a Barnabé e a Paulo, que contavam quão grandes signaes e prodigios Deus havia feito por meio d'elles entre os gentios.
13 When they had finished speaking, James declared, “Brothers, listen to me!
E, havendo-se elles calado, tomou Thiago a palavra, dizendo: Varões irmãos, ouvi-me:
14 Simon has told us how God first visited the Gentiles to take from them a people to be His own.
Simão relatou como Deus primeiramente visitou os gentios, para tomar d'elles um povo para o seu nome.
15 The words of the prophets agree with this, as it is written:
E com isto concordam as palavras dos prophetas; como está escripto:
16 ‘After this I will return and rebuild the fallen tent of David. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it,
Depois d'isto voltarei, e reedificarei o tabernaculo de David, que está caido, e reedificarei as suas ruinas, e tornarei a levantal-o.
17 so that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does these things
Para que o resto dos homens busque ao Senhor, e todos os gentios, sobre os quaes o meu nome é invocado, diz o Senhor, que faz todas estas coisas.
São notorias a Deus desde toda a eternidade as suas obras. (aiōn g165)
19 It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not cause trouble for the Gentiles who are turning to God.
Pelo que julgo que não se deve perturbar aquelles, d'entre os gentios, que se convertem a Deus,
20 Instead, we should write and tell them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals, and from blood.
Mas escrever-lhes que se abstenham das contaminações dos idolos, e da fornicação, e das carnes suffocadas e do sangue.
21 For Moses has been proclaimed in every city from ancient times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”
Porque Moysés, desde os tempos antigos, tem em cada cidade quem o prégue, e cada sabbado é lido nas synagogas.
22 Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to select men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas called Barsabbas and Silas, two leaders among the brothers,
Então pareceu bem aos apostolos e aos anciãos, com toda a egreja, eleger d'elles alguns varões, e envial-os com Paulo e Barnabé a Antiochia, a saber: Judas, chamado Barsabbás, e Silas, varões distinctos entre os irmãos.
23 and sent them with this letter: The apostles and the elders, your brothers, To the brothers among the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings.
E por elles escreveram o seguinte: Os apostolos, e os anciãos e os irmãos, aos irmãos d'entre os gentios que estão em Antiochia, e Syria e Cilicia, saude.
24 It has come to our attention that some went out from us without our authorization and unsettled you, troubling your minds by what they said.
Porquanto ouvimos que alguns que sairam d'entre nós vos perturbaram com palavras, e transtornaram as vossas almas, dizendo que devieis circumcidar-vos e guardar a lei, aos quaes nada mandámos:
25 So we all agreed to choose men to send to you along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
Pareceu-nos bem, reunidos concordemente, eleger alguns varões, e envial-os com os nossos amados Barnabé e Paulo,
26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Homens que já expozeram as suas vidas pelo nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo.
27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to tell you in person the same things we are writing.
Enviamos pois Judas e Silas, os quaes de bocca vos annunciarão tambem o mesmo.
28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond these essential requirements:
Porque pareceu bem ao Espirito Sancto, e a nós, não vos impôr mais encargo algum, senão estas coisas necessarias:
29 You must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.
Que vos abstenhaes das coisas sacrificadas aos idolos, e do sangue, e da carne suffocada, e da fornicação: das quaes coisas fazeis bem se vos guardardes. Bem vos vá.
30 So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they assembled the congregation and delivered the letter.
Tendo-se elles pois despedido, partiram para Antiochia, e, ajuntando a multidão, entregaram a carta.
31 When the people read it, they rejoiced at its encouraging message.
E, lendo-a, alegraram-se, pela consolação a que lhes causava.
32 Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers.
Depois Judas e Silas, que tambem eram prophetas, exhortaram e confirmaram os irmãos com muitas palavras.
33 After spending some time there, they were sent off by the brothers in peace to return to those who had sent them.
E, detendo-se ali algum tempo, os irmãos os deixaram voltar em paz para os apostolos;
Mas pareceu bem a Silas ficar ali.
35 But Paul and Barnabas remained at Antioch, along with many others, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord.
E Paulo e Barnabé ficaram em Antiochia, ensinando e prégando, com muitos outros, a palavra do Senhor.
36 Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the brothers in every town where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.”
E alguns dias depois disse Paulo a Barnabé: Tornemos a visitar nossos irmãos por cada cidade em que já annunciámos a palavra do Senhor, a vêr como estão.
37 Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark.
E Barnabé aconselhava que tomassem comsigo a João, chamado Marcos.
38 But Paul thought it best not to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not accompanied them in the work.
Mas a Paulo parecia razoavel que não tomassem comsigo aquelle que desde Pamphylia se tinha apartado d'elles, e não tinha ido com elles áquella obra.
39 Their disagreement was so sharp that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus,
E tal contenda houve entre elles, que se apartaram um do outro. Barnabé, levando comsigo a Marcos, navegou para Chypre.
40 but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.
E Paulo, tendo escolhido a Silas, partiu, encommendado pelos irmãos á graça de Deus.
41 And he traveled through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
E foi passando por Syria e Cilicia, confirmando as egrejas.
