Acts 13
1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch), and Saul.
আন্তিয়খের মণ্ডলীতে কয়েকজন ভাববাদী ও শিক্ষক ছিলেন: বার্ণবা, নিগের নামে আখ্যাত শিমোন, কুরীণ প্রদেশের লুসিয়াস, মনায়েন (ইনি সামন্তরাজ হেরোদের সঙ্গে প্রতিপালিত হয়েছিলেন) ও শৌল।
2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
তাঁরা যখন প্রভুর উপাসনা ও উপোস করছিলেন, পবিত্র আত্মা বললেন, “বার্ণবা ও শৌলকে আমি যে কাজের জন্য আহ্বান করেছি, সেই কাজের জন্য আমার উদ্দেশ্যে তাদের পৃথক করে দাও।”
3 And after they had fasted and prayed, they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
এভাবে তাঁরা উপোস ও প্রার্থনা শেষ করার পর, তাঁরা তাঁদের উপরে হাত রাখলেন ও তাঁদের বিদায় দিলেন।
4 So Barnabas and Saul, sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.
এইভাবে তাঁরা দুজন পবিত্র আত্মার দ্বারা প্রেরিত হয়ে সিলুকিয়াতে গেলেন এবং সেখান থেকে জাহাজে সাইপ্রাস গেলেন।
5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. And John was with them as their helper.
তাঁরা সালামিতে পৌঁছে ইহুদি সমাজভবনগুলিতে ঈশ্বরের বাক্য প্রচার করলেন। যোহনও তাঁদের সঙ্গে সাহায্যকারীরূপে ছিলেন।
6 They traveled through the whole island as far as Paphos, where they found a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus,
সম্পূর্ণ দ্বীপটির এদিক-ওদিক যাতায়াত করে তাঁরা পাফোতে পৌঁছালেন। সেখানে তাঁরা বর-যীশু নামে একজন ইহুদি জাদুকর ও ভণ্ড ভাববাদীর সাক্ষাৎ পেলেন।
7 an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, a man of intelligence, summoned Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.
সে ছিল প্রদেশপাল সের্গীয় পৌলের একজন পরিচারক। প্রদেশপাল ছিলেন একজন বুদ্ধিমান ব্যক্তি। তিনি বার্ণবা ও শৌলকে ডেকে পাঠালেন, কারণ তিনি ঈশ্বরের বাক্য শুনতে চাইছিলেন।
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith.
কিন্তু ইলুমা, সেই জাদুকর (কারণ সেই ছিল তার নামের অর্থ), তাদের বিরোধিতা করল এবং প্রদেশপালকে বিশ্বাস থেকে ফেরাতে চাইল।
9 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked directly at Elymas
তখন শৌল, যাঁকে পৌল নামেও অভিহিত করা হত, পবিত্র আত্মায় পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে ইলুমার দিকে একদৃষ্টে তাকিয়ে বললেন,
10 and said, “O child of the devil and enemy of all righteousness, you are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery! Will you never stop perverting the straight ways of the Lord?
“তুমি দিয়াবলের সন্তান এবং সর্বপ্রকার ধার্মিকতার বিপক্ষ! তুমি সর্বপ্রকার ছলনা ও ধূর্ততায় পরিপূর্ণ। প্রভুর প্রকৃত পথকে বিকৃত করতে তুমি কি কখনোই ক্ষান্ত হবে না?
11 Now look, the hand of the Lord is against you, and for a time you will be blind and unable to see the light of the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
এখন প্রভুর হাত তোমার বিপক্ষে রয়েছে। তুমি দৃষ্টিহীন হবে এবং কিছু সময় পর্যন্ত তুমি সূর্যের আলো দেখতে পাবে না।” সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ঘন কুয়াশা ও অন্ধকার তাকে আচ্ছন্ন করল। সে হাতড়ে বেড়াতে লাগল, খুঁজতে লাগল, কেউ যেন তার হাত ধরে নিয়ে যায়।
12 When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.
যা ঘটেছে, প্রদেশপাল তা লক্ষ্য করে বিশ্বাস করলেন, কারণ তিনি প্রভুর সম্পর্কিত উপদেশে চমৎকৃত হয়েছিলেন।
13 After setting sail from Paphos, Paul and his companions came to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them to return to Jerusalem.
পাফো থেকে পৌল ও তাঁর সঙ্গীরা জাহাজে করে পাম্ফুলিয়ার পর্গা নগরে গেলেন। সেখানে যোহন তাঁদের ছেড়ে দিয়ে জেরুশালেমে ফিরে গেলেন।
14 And from Perga, they traveled inland to Pisidian Antioch, where they entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and sat down.
পর্গা থেকে তাঁরা গেলেন পিষিদিয়ার আন্তিয়খে। বিশ্রামদিনে তাঁরা সমাজভবনে প্রবেশ করে আসন গ্রহণ করলেন।
15 After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the synagogue leaders sent word to them: “Brothers, if you have a word of encouragement for the people, please speak.”
বিধানশাস্ত্র ও ভাববাদী গ্রন্থ পাঠ করা হলে পর, সমাজভবনের অধ্যক্ষেরা তাঁদের কাছে বলে পাঠালেন, “ভাইরা, জনগণের জন্য আপনাদের কাছে যদি কোনও উৎসাহ দেওয়ার বার্তা থাকে, তাহলে অনুগ্রহ করে বলুন।”
16 Paul stood up, motioned with his hand, and began to speak: “Men of Israel and you Gentiles who fear God, listen to me!
পৌল উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে হাত দিয়ে ইঙ্গিত করলেন ও বললেন, “হে ইস্রায়েলবাসী ও ঈশ্বরের উপাসক অইহুদি জনগণ, আমার কথা শোনো।
17 The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers. He made them into a great people during their stay in Egypt, and with an uplifted arm He led them out of that land.
ইস্রায়েল জাতির ঈশ্বর আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের মনোনীত করেছিলেন, মিশরে তাদের থাকার সময়ে তিনিই তাদের সমৃদ্ধ করেছিলেন। মহাপরাক্রমের সঙ্গে তিনি সেদেশ থেকে তাদের বের করেও এনেছিলেন।
18 He endured their conduct for about forty years in the wilderness.
চল্লিশ বছর পর্যন্ত মরুপ্রান্তরে তিনি তাদের আচরণ সহ্য করেছিলেন।
19 And having vanquished seven nations in Canaan, He gave their land to His people as an inheritance.
কনানে সাতটি জাতিকে উৎখাত করে তিনি অধিকাররূপে তাদের দেশ তাঁর প্রজাদের দান করেছিলেন।
20 All this took about 450 years. After this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet.
এসব সম্পন্ন হতে প্রায় চারশো পঞ্চাশ বছর লেগেছিল। “এরপর, ভাববাদী শমূয়েলের আমল পর্যন্ত ঈশ্বর তাদের জন্য বিচারকর্তৃগণ দিলেন।
21 Then the people asked for a king, and God gave them forty years under Saul son of Kish, from the tribe of Benjamin.
তারপর প্রজারা একজন রাজা চাইল। তিনি তাদের বিন্যামীন গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত কীশের ছেলে শৌলকে দিলেন। তিনি চল্লিশ বছর রাজত্ব করলেন।
22 After removing Saul, He raised up David as their king and testified about him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse a man after My own heart; he will carry out My will in its entirety.’
শৌলকে পদচ্যুত করে, তিনি দাউদকে তাদের রাজা করলেন। তিনি তাঁর সম্পর্কে সাক্ষ্য দিয়েছিলেন: ‘আমি আমার মনের মতো মানুষ, যিশয়ের ছেলে দাউদকে খুঁজে পেয়েছি। আমি যা চাই, সে আমার জন্য তাই করবে।’
23 From the descendants of this man, God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as He promised.
“তাঁর প্রতিশ্রুতি অনুযায়ী, ঈশ্বর তাঁরই বংশধরদের মধ্য থেকে পরিত্রাতা যীশুকে ইস্রায়েলের কাছে উপস্থিত করলেন।
24 Before the arrival of Jesus, John preached a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
যীশুর আগমনের পূর্বে যোহন ইস্রায়েলী প্রজাদের কাছে মন পরিবর্তন ও বাপ্তিষ্মের কথা প্রচার করলেন।
25 As John was completing his course, he said, ‘Who do you suppose I am? I am not that One. But He is coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.’
যোহন তাঁর কাজ সম্পূর্ণ করার সময় বলেছিলেন, ‘তোমরা কী মনে করো, আমি কে? আমি সেই ব্যক্তি নই। না, কিন্তু তিনি আমার পরে আসছেন, যাঁর চটিজুতোর বাঁধন খোলারও যোগ্যতা আমার নেই।’
26 Brothers, children of Abraham, and you Gentiles who fear God, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent.
“ভাইরা, অব্রাহামের সন্তানেরা এবং ঈশ্বরভয়শীল অইহুদি তোমরা, আমাদেরই কাছে পরিত্রাণের এই বাণী পাঠানো হয়েছে।
27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning Him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.
জেরুশালেমের লোকেরা ও তাদের অধ্যক্ষেরা যীশুকে চিনতে পারেনি, তবুও তাঁকে দোষী সাব্যস্ত করে তারা ভাববাদীদের বাণী পূর্ণ করেছে, যা প্রতি বিশ্রামদিনে পড়া হয়।
28 And though they found no ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have Him executed.
যদিও তাঁকে প্রাণদণ্ড দেওয়ার জন্য তারা কোনো যথাযথ কারণ খুঁজে পায়নি, তবুও তারা পীলাতের কাছে নিবেদন করেছিল যেন তাঁকে হত্যা করা হয়।
29 When they had carried out all that was written about Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb.
তাঁর সম্পর্কে লিখিত সব কথা তারা সম্পূর্ণ করলে, তারা তাঁকে ক্রুশ থেকে নামিয়ে একটি কবরে সমাধি দিল।
30 But God raised Him from the dead,
কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাঁকে মৃতলোক থেকে উত্থাপিত করলেন।
31 and for many days He was seen by those who had accompanied Him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now His witnesses to our people.
যাঁরা তাঁর সঙ্গে গালীল থেকে জেরুশালেমে যাত্রা করেছিলেন, তিনি তাঁদের কাছে দেখা দিয়েছিলেন। তাঁরা এখন জনসমক্ষে তাঁর সাক্ষী হয়েছেন।
32 And now we proclaim to you the good news: What God promised our fathers
“আমরা তোমাদের এই সুসমাচার বলি: ঈশ্বর আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের যে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন,
33 He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.’
যীশুকে উত্থাপিত করে তিনি তাদের বংশধরদের, অর্থাৎ আমাদের কাছে তা পূর্ণ করেছেন। দ্বিতীয় গীতে যেমন লেখা আছে, “‘তুমি আমার পুত্র, আজ আমি তোমার পিতা হয়েছি।’
34 In fact, God raised Him from the dead, never to see decay. As He has said: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’
ঈশ্বর তাঁকে মৃতলোক থেকে উত্থাপিত করেছেন, কবরে পচে যাওয়ার জন্য ছেড়ে দেননি। এই সত্য এসব বচনে ব্যক্ত হয়েছে: “‘আমি তোমাকে দাউদের কাছে প্রতিশ্রুত পবিত্র ও সুনিশ্চিত সব আশীর্বাদ দান করব।’
35 So also, He says in another Psalm: ‘You will not let Your Holy One see decay.’
অন্যত্রও এই কথার এভাবে বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে: “‘তুমি তোমার পবিত্রজনকে ক্ষয় দেখতে দেবে না।’
36 For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep. His body was buried with his fathers and saw decay.
“কারণ দাউদ যখন তাঁর প্রজন্মে ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশ্য পূর্ণ করলেন, তিনি নিদ্রাগত হলেন। তিনি তাঁর পিতৃপুরুষদের সঙ্গে কবরপ্রাপ্ত হলেন ও তাঁর শরীর ক্ষয় পেল।
37 But the One whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.
কিন্তু ঈশ্বর যাঁকে মৃতলোক থেকে উত্থাপিত করেছেন, তিনি ক্ষয় দেখেননি।
38 Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.
“সেই কারণে, আমার ভাইরা, আমি চাই তোমরা অবগত হও যে যীশুর মাধ্যমে সব পাপের ক্ষমা হয়, যা তোমাদের কাছে ঘোষণা করা হচ্ছে। মোশির বিধান যে সমস্ত বিষয় থেকে তোমাদের নির্দোষ করতে পারেনি,
39 Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.
যীশুর মাধ্যমে প্রত্যেকজন, যারা বিশ্বাস করে, তারা সেইসব বিষয় থেকে নির্দোষ গণ্য হয়।
40 Watch out, then, that what was spoken by the prophets does not happen to you:
সাবধান হও, ভাববাদীরা যা বলে গেছেন, তোমাদের ক্ষেত্রে যেন সেরকম না হয়:
41 ‘Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish! For I am doing a work in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.’”
“‘ওহে বিদ্রুপকারীর দল, তোমরা বিস্ময়চকিত হয়ে ধ্বংস হও, কারণ আমি তোমাদের দিনে এমন কিছু করব, যা তোমাদের বলা হলেও, তোমরা কখনও তা বিশ্বাস করবে না।’”
42 As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people urged them to continue this message on the next Sabbath.
পৌল ও বার্ণবা সমাজভবন থেকে বেরিয়ে যাওয়ার সময়, লোকেরা পরবর্তী বিশ্রামদিনে এ প্রসঙ্গে আরও কথা বলার জন্য তাঁদের আমন্ত্রণ জানাল।
43 After the synagogue was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.
সভা শেষ হওয়ার পর বহু ইহুদি ও ইহুদি ধর্মে ধর্মান্তরিত ব্যক্তিরা পৌল ও বার্ণবাকে অনুসরণ করল। তাঁরা তাদের সঙ্গে কথা বললেন এবং ঈশ্বরের অনুগ্রহে অবিচল থাকার জন্য তাদের উৎসাহিত করলেন।
44 On the following Sabbath, nearly the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.
পরবর্তী বিশ্রামদিনে নগরের প্রায় সমস্ত মানুষ প্রভুর বাক্য শোনার জন্য একত্র হল।
45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and they blasphemously contradicted what Paul was saying.
ইহুদিরা সেই জনসমাগম দেখে ঈর্ষায় পরিপূর্ণ হল। তারা পৌলের বক্তব্যের বিরুদ্ধে কটূক্তি করতে লাগল।
46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “It was necessary to speak the word of God to you first. But since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)
তখন পৌল ও বার্ণবা সাহসের সঙ্গে উত্তর দিলেন, “প্রথমে আপনাদের কাছে আমাদের ঈশ্বরের বাক্য বলতে হয়েছে। আপনারা যেহেতু তা অগ্রাহ্য করছেন ও নিজেদের অনন্ত জীবন লাভের জন্য অযোগ্য বিবেচনা করছেন, আমরা এখন অইহুদিদের কাছেই যাচ্ছি। (aiōnios g166)
47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
কারণ প্রভু আমাদের এই আদেশই দিয়েছেন: “‘আমি তোমাকে অইহুদিদের জন্য দীপ্তিস্বরূপ করেছি, যেন পৃথিবীর প্রান্ত পর্যন্ত তুমি পরিত্রাণ নিয়ে যেতে পারো।’”
48 When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. (aiōnios g166)
অইহুদিরা একথা শুনে আনন্দিত হল। তারা প্রভুর বাক্যের সমাদর করল। যারাই অনন্ত জীবনের জন্য নিরূপিত হয়েছিল, তারা সকলে বিশ্বাস করল। (aiōnios g166)
49 And the word of the Lord spread throughout that region.
প্রভুর বাক্য সেই সমস্ত অঞ্চল জুড়ে ছড়িয়ে পড়ল।
50 The Jews, however, incited the religious women of prominence and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas and drove them out of their district.
কিন্তু ইহুদিরা সম্ভ্রান্ত ঘরের ঈশ্বরভয়শীল মহিলাদের ও নগরের নেতৃস্থানীয় লোকদের উত্তেজিত করে তুলল। তারা পৌল ও বার্ণবার প্রতি নির্যাতন করা শুরু করল এবং তাদের এলাকা থেকে তাঁদের বের করে দিল।
51 So they shook the dust off their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium.
তাঁরা তখন তাদের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদস্বরূপ তাঁদের পায়ের ধুলো ঝেড়ে ইকনিয়তে চলে গেলেন।
52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
আর শিষ্যরা আনন্দে ও পবিত্র আত্মায় পূর্ণ হয়ে উঠল।
