2 Timothy 2
1 You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Tú, pues, hijo mío, sé fortalecido con la gracia de Cristo Jesús.
2 And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be qualified to teach others as well.
Lo que escuchaste de mí en medio de muchos testigos encomienda a hombres fieles que sean idóneos para enseñar también a otros.
3 Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
Comparte sufrimientos como buen soldado de Cristo Jesús.
4 A soldier refrains from entangling himself in civilian affairs, in order to please the one who enlisted him.
Ninguno que se alista como soldado se enreda en los negocios de la vida, a fin de agradar al que lo reclutó como soldado.
5 Likewise, a competitor does not receive the crown unless he competes according to the rules.
También, si alguno compite como atleta, no es coronado si no compite según las normas.
6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to partake of the crops.
El labrador, para recibir su parte de los frutos, le es necesario que primero trabaje duro.
7 Consider what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all things.
Considera lo que digo, pues el Señor te dará entendimiento en todo.
8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David, as proclaimed by my gospel,
Recuerda a Jesucristo, descendiente de David, Quien resucitó de entre [los] muertos, según mi mensaje de Buenas Noticias,
9 for which I suffer to the extent of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained!
por el cual sufro maltrato, hasta cadenas como un malhechor. Pero la Palabra de Dios no está atada.
10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the elect, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
Por tanto todo lo soporto por amor a los escogidos para que ellos también obtengan salvación de Cristo Jesús con gloria eterna. (aiōnios g166)
11 This is a trustworthy saying: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
Fiel es la Palabra, pues si morimos con Él, también viviremos con Él.
12 if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us;
Si soportamos, también reinaremos con Él. Si lo negamos, Él también nos negará.
13 if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Si somos infieles, Él permanece fiel, porque no puede negarse a Él mismo.
14 Remind the believers of these things, charging them before God to avoid quarreling over words, which succeeds only in leading the listeners to ruin.
Recuérdales estas cosas. Encárgales solemnemente delante de Dios que no contiendan con respecto a palabras, [lo cual] para nada es provechoso. Sirve para destrucción de los oyentes.
15 Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth.
Procura diligentemente presentarte a Dios aprobado como obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse, que maneja con precisión la Palabra de verdad.
16 But avoid irreverent, empty chatter, which will only lead to more ungodliness,
Pero evita profanas y vacías habladurías, porque harán que [la] impiedad avance más.
17 and the talk of such men will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
La palabra de ellos carcomerá como gangrena, de los cuales son Himeneo y Fileto,
18 who have deviated from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already occurred, and they undermine the faith of some.
que perdieron el rumbo con respecto a la verdad. Dicen que la resurrección ya ocurrió y trastornan la fe de algunos.
19 Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from iniquity.”
Sin embargo, el sólido fundamento de Dios permanece firme, con este sello: Conoce el Señor a los suyos, y: Huya de iniquidad todo el que menciona el Nombre del Señor.
20 A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use.
Pero en una casa grande, no solo hay vasijas de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro, y unas para honor y otras para deshonor.
21 So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.
Así que, cuando alguno se limpie de todas estas cosas será vasija para honor, santificada, útil para el amo, preparada para toda buena obra.
22 Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Huye también de las pasiones juveniles, y persigue [la] justicia, [la ]fe, [el ]amor y [la ]paz, con los que claman al Señor de corazón puro.
23 But reject foolish and ignorant speculation, for you know that it breeds quarreling.
Pero evita las cuestiones necias y estúpidas, pues sabes que engendran contiendas.
24 And a servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome, but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and forbearing.
Porque un esclavo del Señor no debe pelear, sino ser amable con todos, apto para enseñar, paciente,
25 He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
que corrija con mansedumbre a los que se oponen, para ver si Dios les concede cambio de mente a fin de que conozcan [la] verdad
26 Then they will come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to his will.
y vuelvan a ser sobrios con respecto a la trampa del diablo quien los tiene cautivos a su voluntad.
