2 Samuel 13
1 After some time, David’s son Amnon fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of David’s son Absalom.
കുറച്ചുനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞ് ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ അമ്നോൻ താമാറിൽ അനുരക്തനായി. താമാർ ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ സഹോദരിയും അതീവസുന്ദരിയും ആയിരുന്നു.
2 Amnon was sick with frustration over his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin, and it seemed implausible for him to do anything to her.
തന്റെ സഹോദരി താമാറിൽ ആസക്തനായിട്ട് അമ്നോൻ രോഗിയായിത്തീർന്നു. അവൾ കന്യകയായിരുന്നു. അതിനാൽ അവളോടു വല്ലതും ചെയ്യുന്നത് അയാൾക്കു പ്രയാസമായിരുന്നു.
3 Now Amnon had a friend named Jonadab, the son of David’s brother Shimeah. Jonadab was a very shrewd man,
അമ്നോന്, യോനാദാബ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു സ്നേഹിതനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അയാൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമെയിയുടെ പുത്രനായിരുന്നു. യോനാദാബ് ഏറ്റവും തന്ത്രശാലിയുമായിരുന്നു.
4 so he asked Amnon, “Why are you, the son of the king, so depressed morning after morning? Won’t you tell me?” Amnon replied, “I am in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”
അയാൾ അമ്നോനോട്: “രാജകുമാരാ, അങ്ങ് നാൾ കഴിയുന്തോറും ഇങ്ങനെ ക്ഷീണിച്ചുവരുന്നതെന്തുകൊണ്ട്? എന്നോടു പറയുകയില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “എന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ പെങ്ങൾ താമാറിൽ എനിക്കു പ്രേമം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അമ്നോൻ അയാളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 Jonadab told him, “Lie down on your bed and pretend you are ill. When your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare it in my sight so I may watch her and eat it from her hand.’”
യോനാദാബ് അയാളോട്: “അങ്ങ് രോഗം നടിച്ച് കിടക്കയിൽ കിടക്കുക. അങ്ങയുടെ പിതാവ് കാണുന്നതിനായി വരുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ഈ വിധം പറയുക, ‘എന്റെ സഹോദരി താമാർ വന്ന് എനിക്കെന്തെങ്കിലും ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ തരണമെന്ന് ഞാൻ ആശിക്കുന്നു. അവൾ വന്ന് ഞാൻ കാൺകെ ഭക്ഷണമൊരുക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കണമേ! എനിക്ക് അവളുടെ കൈയിൽനിന്നും വാങ്ങി ഭക്ഷിക്കണം.’”
6 So Amnon lay down and feigned illness. When the king came to see him, Amnon said, “Please let my sister Tamar come and make a couple of cakes in my sight, so that I may eat from her hand.”
അങ്ങനെ അമ്നോൻ പോയി രോഗം നടിച്ചുകിടന്നു. അയാളെ കാണുന്നതിനായി രാജാവു വന്നപ്പോൾ അമ്നോൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ സഹോദരി താമാർ വന്ന് എന്റെ കണ്മുമ്പിൽവെച്ച് എന്തെങ്കിലും പ്രത്യേക ഭക്ഷണം ഉണ്ടാക്കിത്തരണമെന്ന് ഞാൻ ആശിക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ കൈയിൽനിന്നും ഞാൻ വാങ്ങി ഭക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ!”
7 Then David sent word to Tamar at the palace: “Please go to the house of Amnon your brother and prepare a meal for him.”
അതിനാൽ ദാവീദ് താമാറിനു കൽപ്പനകൊടുത്തു: “നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അമ്നോന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുക: അവന് എന്തെങ്കിലും ഭക്ഷണം ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊടുക്കുക.”
8 So Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon, who was lying down. She took some dough, kneaded it, made cakes in his sight, and baked them.
അങ്ങനെ താമാർ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അമ്നോന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു. അയാൾ കിടക്കയിലായിരുന്നു. അവൾ അൽപ്പം മാവെടുത്തു കുഴച്ച് അയാളുടെ കണ്മുമ്പിൽവെച്ച് അടയുണ്ടാക്കി ചുട്ടെടുത്തു.
9 Then she brought the pan and set it down before him, but he refused to eat. “Send everyone away!” said Amnon. And everyone went out.
പിന്നെ അവൾ പാത്രമെടുത്ത് അയാൾക്കു വിളമ്പിക്കൊടുത്തു; എന്നാൽ അയാൾ ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ കൂട്ടാക്കിയില്ല. “എല്ലാവരെയും ഇവിടെനിന്നും പുറത്താക്കുക,” എന്ന് അമ്നോൻ പറഞ്ഞു. എല്ലാവരും അയാളുടെ അടുത്തുനിന്നും പോയി.
10 Then Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the bedroom, so that I may eat it from your hand.” Tamar took the cakes she had made and went to her brother Amnon’s bedroom.
അപ്പോൾ അമ്നോൻ താമാറിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞാൻ നിന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നും ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിന് അടകൾ എന്റെ കിടക്കമുറിയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരിക.” താമാർ താനുണ്ടാക്കിയ അടകൾ എടുത്ത് കിടക്കമുറിയിൽ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അമ്നോന്റെ അടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.
11 And when she had brought them to him to eat, he took hold of her and said, “Come lie with me, my sister!”
എന്നാൽ അവൾ അതു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവളെ കടന്നുപിടിച്ച്, “സഹോദരീ, വരിക, എന്റെകൂടെ കിടക്കുക” എന്ന് അയാൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
12 “No, my brother!” she cried. “Do not humiliate me, for such a thing should never be done in Israel. Do not do this disgraceful thing!
“അരുതേ! എന്റെ സഹോദരാ!” അവൾ കേണപേക്ഷിച്ചു. “എന്നെ നിർബന്ധിക്കരുതേ! ഇങ്ങനെ ഒരു കാര്യം ഇസ്രായേലിൽ പാടില്ലല്ലോ! ഈ ദുഷ്കൃത്യം ചെയ്യരുതേ.
13 Where could I ever take my shame? And you would be like one of the fools in Israel! Please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you.”
ഞാൻ ഈ അപമാനം എവിടെച്ചെന്നു തീർക്കും? അങ്ങും ഇസ്രായേലിലെ വഷളന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ആയിപ്പോകുമല്ലോ! ദയവായി ഇക്കാര്യം രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞാലും; അദ്ദേഹം എന്നെ അങ്ങേക്കു വിവാഹംകഴിച്ചുതരാതിരിക്കുകയില്ല.”
14 But Amnon refused to listen to her, and being stronger, he violated her and lay with her.
എന്നാൽ അയാൾ അവളുടെ വാക്കുകൾ ചെവിക്കൊണ്ടില്ല. അവളെക്കാൾ കായബലം ഏറിയവനായതിനാൽ അയാൾ അവളെ ബലാൽക്കാരംചെയ്തു.
15 Then Amnon hated Tamar with such intensity that his hatred was greater than the love he previously had. “Get up!” he said to her. “Be gone!”
പിന്നെ അമ്നോൻ അവളെ അത്യന്തം വെറുത്തു. വാസ്തവത്തിൽ അയാൾ അവളെ സ്നേഹിച്ചിരുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ അധികമായി അവളെ വെറുത്തു. “എഴുന്നേറ്റു പുറത്തുപോകൂ,” അമ്നോൻ അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 “No,” she replied, “sending me away is worse than this great wrong you have already done to me!” But he refused to listen to her.
അവൾ അയാളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “അരുത് സഹോദരാ, എന്നെ പുറത്താക്കുന്നത് അങ്ങ് എന്നോട് ഇപ്പോൾ ചെയ്ത ഈ ദോഷത്തെക്കാൾ വലിയ തെറ്റായിരിക്കും.” എന്നാൽ അയാൾ അവളുടെ വാക്കുകൾ ചെവിക്കൊണ്ടില്ല.
17 Instead, he called to his attendant and said, “Throw this woman out and bolt the door behind her!”
“ഈ സ്ത്രീയെ പുറത്താക്കി വാതിൽ അടച്ചുകളക,” എന്ന് അയാൾ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോട് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു.
18 So Amnon’s attendant threw her out and bolted the door behind her. Now Tamar was wearing a robe of many colors, because this is what the king’s virgin daughters wore.
അതിനാൽ അമ്നോന്റെ ഭൃത്യൻ അവളെ പിടിച്ചു പുറത്താക്കി കതകും അടച്ചു. അതിമനോഹരമായ ഒരു നിലയങ്കിയാണ് അവൾ ധരിച്ചിരുന്നത്. അന്ന് ഇസ്രായേലിൽ കന്യകകളായ രാജകുമാരിമാർ ധരിക്കാറുള്ളത് അത്തരത്തിലുള്ള അങ്കിയായിരുന്നു.
19 And Tamar put ashes on her head and tore her robe. And putting her hand on her head, she went away crying bitterly.
താമാർ തലയിൽ ചാരം വാരിയിട്ട് താൻ ധരിച്ചിരുന്ന അലംകൃതവസ്ത്രവും കീറി; തലയിൽ കൈവെച്ച് ഉച്ചത്തിൽ വിലപിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് കടന്നുപോയി.
20 Her brother Absalom said to her, “Has your brother Amnon been with you? Be quiet for now, my sister. He is your brother. Do not take this thing to heart.” So Tamar lived as a desolate woman in the house of her brother Absalom.
അവളുടെ സഹോദരനായ അബ്ശാലോം അവളോടു ചോദിച്ചു: “നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അമ്നോൻ നിന്നോടൊപ്പം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നോ? ആകട്ടെ, എന്റെ സഹോദരീ, നീ സമാധാനമായിരിക്കുക; അയാൾ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനാണല്ലോ; ഇക്കാര്യം മനസ്സിൽ വെക്കരുത്.” അങ്ങനെ താമാർ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ ഏകാകിനിയായി താമസിച്ചു.
21 When King David heard all this, he was furious.
ദാവീദ് രാജാവ് ഇതെല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അത്യന്തം കോപാകുലനായി.
22 And Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad, because he hated Amnon for disgracing his sister Tamar.
അബ്ശാലോം അമ്നോനോട് നന്മയാകട്ടെ തിന്മയാകട്ടെ, യാതൊരു വാക്കും പറഞ്ഞില്ല. തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാറിനെ അപമാനിച്ചതിനാൽ അബ്ശാലോം അയാളെ വെറുത്തു.
23 Two years later, when Absalom’s sheepshearers were at Baal-hazor near Ephraim, he invited all the sons of the king.
രണ്ടു വർഷങ്ങൾക്കുശേഷം, എഫ്രയീം നാടിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലുള്ള ബാൽ-ഹാസോരിൽവെച്ച് അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ ആടുകളുടെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന ഉത്സവമായിരുന്നു. സകലരാജകുമാരന്മാരെയും അദ്ദേഹം അതിനു ക്ഷണിച്ചു.
24 And he went to the king and said, “Your servant has just hired shearers. Will the king and his servants please come with me?”
അബ്ശാലോം രാജാവിന്റെയും അടുത്തുവന്ന്, “അങ്ങയുടെ ഈ ദാസന്റെ ആടുകളുടെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവർ വന്നെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ദയവായി രാജാവും സേവകരും ആഘോഷങ്ങളിൽ സംബന്ധിക്കണേ!” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
25 “No, my son,” the king replied, “we should not all go, or we would be a burden to you.” Although Absalom urged him, he was not willing to go, but gave him his blessing.
“വേണ്ടാ, എന്റെ മകനേ!” രാജാവു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞങ്ങളെല്ലാവരുംകൂടി വരേണ്ടതില്ല. അതു നിനക്കു ഭാരമായിരിക്കും.” എങ്കിലും അബ്ശാലോം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു. എന്നിട്ടും അദ്ദേഹം പോകാൻ വിസമ്മതിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ തന്റെ ആശിസ്സുകൾ നേർന്നു.
26 “If not,” said Absalom, “please let my brother Amnon go with us.” “Why should he go with you?” the king asked.
അപ്പോൾ അബ്ശാലോം പറഞ്ഞു. “അങ്ങു വരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ദയവായി എന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അമ്നോനെ ഞങ്ങളുടെകൂടെ അയയ്ക്കണേ!” രാജാവ് അയാളോടു ചോദിച്ചു: “അവനെന്തിനു നിന്റെകൂടെ വരണം?”
27 But Absalom urged him, so the king sent Amnon and the rest of his sons.
എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വളരെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു. അതിനാൽ ദാവീദ് അമ്നോനെയും മറ്റു രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയും അയാളോടൊപ്പം അയച്ചു.
28 Now Absalom had ordered his young men, “Watch Amnon until his heart is merry with wine, and when I order you to strike Amnon down, you are to kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant!”
അബ്ശാലോം തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോട്: “ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക, അമ്നോൻ വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു മത്തനാകുന്ന സമയത്ത് ‘അമ്നോനെ അടിച്ചുകൊല്ലുക’ എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയും. അപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ കൊല്ലണം. ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതില്ല; ഞാനല്ലേ നിങ്ങൾക്കു കൽപ്പന തരുന്നത്? ബലവും ധീരതയും കാണിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 So Absalom’s young men did to Amnon just as Absalom had ordered. Then all the other sons of the king got up, and each one fled on his mule.
അബ്ശാലോം കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അമ്നോനോടു ചെയ്തു. അപ്പോൾ രാജകുമാരന്മാരെല്ലാം എഴുന്നേറ്റ് താന്താങ്ങളുടെ കോവർകഴുതപ്പുറത്തുകയറി ഓടിപ്പോയി.
30 While they were on the way, a report reached David: “Absalom has struck down all the sons of the king; not one of them is left!”
അവർ മാർഗമധ്യേ ആയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ, “അബ്ശാലോം രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയെല്ലാം വധിച്ചെന്നും അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻപോലും ശേഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല” എന്നും ഒരു വാർത്ത ദാവീദിനു ലഭിച്ചു.
31 Then the king stood up, tore his clothes, and lay down on the ground; and all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.
രാജാവ് എഴുന്നേറ്റ് വസ്ത്രംകീറി വെറും നിലത്തുകിടന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സേവകരും വസ്ത്രംകീറിക്കൊണ്ട് ചുറ്റും നിന്നു.
32 But Jonadab, the son of David’s brother Shimeah, spoke up: “My lord must not think they have killed all the sons of the king, for only Amnon is dead. In fact, Absalom has planned this since the day Amnon violated his sister Tamar.
എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ ശിമെയിയുടെ മകനായ യോനാദാബു പറഞ്ഞു: “അവർ രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയെല്ലാം വധിച്ചു എന്ന് എന്റെ യജമാനൻ ധരിക്കരുതേ! അമ്നോൻമാത്രമേ മരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളൂ. തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാറിനോട് അമ്നോൻ ബലാൽക്കാരം പ്രവർത്തിച്ച നാൾമുതൽ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ മുഖത്ത് ഈ ഉദ്ദേശ്യം പ്രകടമായിരുന്നു.
33 So now, my lord the king, do not take to heart the report that all the sons of the king are dead. Only Amnon is dead.”
അങ്ങയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരെല്ലാം വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവെന്ന വാർത്ത എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവ് ഗണ്യമാക്കരുതേ! അമ്നോൻമാത്രമേ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളൂ.”
34 Meanwhile, Absalom had fled. When the young man standing watch looked up, he saw many people coming down the road west of him, along the side of the hill. And the watchman went and reported to the king, “I see men coming from the direction of Horonaim, along the side of the hill.”
ഇതിനിടെ അബ്ശാലോം ഓടിപ്പോയിരുന്നു. കാവൽക്കാരൻ തലയുയർത്തിനോക്കി; പടിഞ്ഞാറുഭാഗത്ത് അനവധി ആളുകൾ മലഞ്ചെരിവിലൂടെ ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്നതു കണ്ടു. ഉടൻതന്നെ കാവൽക്കാരൻ രാജാവിനെ വിവരം അറിയിച്ചു, “ഹൊറൊനായിംവഴി മലഞ്ചെരിവിലൂടെ ഒരുകൂട്ടം പുരുഷന്മാർ വരുന്നത് ഞാൻ കണ്ടു.”
35 So Jonadab said to the king, “Look, the sons of the king have arrived! It is just as your servant said.”
ഉടനെ യോനാദാബു രാജാവിനോട്: “ഇതാ, അടിയൻ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ സംഭവിച്ചല്ലോ! രാജകുമാരന്മാർ വന്നെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
36 And as he finished speaking, the sons of the king came in, wailing loudly. Then the king and all his servants also wept very bitterly.
അയാൾ സംസാരിച്ചുതീർന്നപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ രാജകുമാരന്മാർ ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് വന്നെത്തി. രാജാവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സകലസേവകരും അതിദുഃഖത്തോടെ കരഞ്ഞു.
37 Now Absalom fled and went to Talmai son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. But David mourned for his son every day.
എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോം ഓടിപ്പോയി ഗെശൂർരാജാവും അമ്മീഹൂദിന്റെ മകനുമായ തൽമായിയുടെ അടുക്കലെത്തി. എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ് രാജാവ് തന്റെ മകനായ അമ്നോനെ ഓർത്ത് വളരെ ദിവസങ്ങൾ വിലപിച്ചു.
38 After Absalom had fled and gone to Geshur, he stayed there three years.
അബ്ശാലോം ഓടിപ്പോയി ഗെശൂരിൽ എത്തിയശേഷം, മൂന്നുവർഷം അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.
39 And King David longed to go to Absalom, for he had been consoled over Amnon’s death.
അമ്നോന്റെ മരണംകാരണം ദാവീദുരാജാവിനുണ്ടായ ദുഃഖത്തിന് ആശ്വാസം വന്നിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം അബ്ശാലോമിനെ കാണുന്നതിന് അതിയായി ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
