2 Kings 5
1 Now Naaman, the commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man in his master’s sight and highly regarded, for through him the LORD had given victory to Aram. And he was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.
೧ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ನಾಮಾನನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯಿದ್ದನು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇವನ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಜಯವನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನು ಇವನನ್ನು ಮಹಾ ಪುರುಷನೆಂದೂ ಸನ್ಮಾನಯೋಗ್ಯನೆಂದೂ ಗೌರವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಆದರೆ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯಾದ ಇವನು ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
2 At this time the Arameans had gone out in bands and had taken a young girl from the land of Israel, and she was serving Naaman’s wife.
೨ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಒಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹುಡುಗಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಆಕೆಯು ನಾಮಾನನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಗೆ ಸೇವಕಿಯಾದಳು.
3 She said to her mistress, “If only my master would go to the prophet who is in Samaria, he would cure him of his leprosy.”
೩ಆಕೆಯು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನಿಯ ಬಳಿ, “ನಮ್ಮ ದಣಿಯು ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನನ್ನು ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗದಿಂದ ವಾಸಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.
4 And Naaman went and told his master what the girl from the land of Israel had said.
೪ನಾಮಾನನು ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇಶದ ಹುಡುಗಿಯು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
5 “Go now,” said the king of Aram, “and I will send you with a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman departed, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten sets of clothing.
೫ಅರಾಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಾ. ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದನು. ನಾಮಾನನು ಹತ್ತು ತಲಾಂತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ, (ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ) ಆರು ಸಾವಿರ ತೊಲೆ ಬಂಗಾರ, ಹತ್ತು ಜೊತೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಸಮಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ,
6 And the letter that he took to the king of Israel stated: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman, so that you may cure him of his leprosy.”
೬ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ, “ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾಮಾನನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನೀನು ಅವನ ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗವನ್ನು ವಾಸಿಮಾಡತಕ್ಕದ್ದೆಂದು ಈ ಪತ್ರದಿಂದ ತಿಳಿದುಕೋ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಬರೆದಿತ್ತು.
7 When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and asked, “Am I God, killing and giving life, that this man expects me to cure a leper? Surely you can see that he is seeking a quarrel with me!”
೭ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಓದಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ತನ್ನ ಪರಿವಾರದವರಿಗೆ, “ಅವನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗದಿಂದ ವಾಸಿಮಾಡಬೇಕಂತೆ. ಇದು ಎಂಥ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ! ನಾನೇನು ದೇವರೋ? ಜೀವದಾನಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ, ಸಾಯಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಉಂಟೋ? ಇವನು ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಜಗಳವಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲವೇ ನೀವೇ ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
8 Now when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent a message to the king: “Why have you torn your clothes? Please let the man come to me, and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.”
೮ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾದ ಎಲೀಷನು ಕೇಳಿ ದೂತರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು, ನಿನ್ನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡದ್ದೇಕೆ? ಅವನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸು, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬುದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
9 So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha’s house.
೯ನಾಮಾನನು ರಥಾಶ್ವಗಳೊಡನೆ ಎಲೀಷನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತನು.
10 Then Elisha sent him a messenger, who said, “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored, and you will be clean.”
೧೦ಎಲೀಷನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಹೋಗಿ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ಸಾರಿ ಮುಳುಗಿ ಬಾ, ಆಗ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಹವು ಮೊದಲಿನಂತಾಗುವುದು; ನೀನು ಶುದ್ಧನಾಗುವಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
11 But Naaman went away angry, saying, “I thought that he would surely come out, stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the spot to cure my leprosy.
೧೧ನಾಮಾನನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು, “ಇದೇನು? ಅವನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ನನ್ನ ಕುಷ್ಠದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಯಾಡಿಸಿ ವಾಸಿಮಾಡುವನೆಂದು ನೆನಸಿದೆನು.
12 Are not the Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not have washed in them and been cleansed?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
೧೨ದಮಸ್ಕದ ಅಬಾನಾ ಮತ್ತು ಪರ್ಪರ್ ಎಂಬ ನದಿಗಳು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ನದಿ ಹೊಳೆಹಳ್ಳಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿವೆಯಲ್ಲವೋ? ಸ್ನಾನದಿಂದ ಶುದ್ಧನಾಗುವ ಹಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡಬಹುದಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಬಲು ಸಿಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
13 Naaman’s servants, however, approached him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’?”
೧೩ಆಗ ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಸ್ವಾಮೀ, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಒಂದು ಕಠಿಣವಾದ ಕೆಲಸ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ನೀವು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಿರಲ್ಲವೇ? ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ‘ಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡಿ ಶುದ್ಧನಾಗು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಅದರಂತೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
14 So Naaman went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored and became like that of a little child, and he was clean.
೧೪ಅವನು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಏಳು ಸಾರಿ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿ ಎದ್ದನು. ಕೂಡಲೆ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಮಾತಿಗನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ಅವನ ದೇಹವು ಕೂಸಿನ ದೇಹದಂತೆ ಶುದ್ಧವಾಯಿತು.
15 Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God, stood before him, and declared, “Now I know for sure that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”
೧೫ಅನಂತರ, ನಾಮಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಪರಿವಾರದವರೊಡನೆ, ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತು, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದೇವರ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರು ಇರುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂಬುದು ಈಗ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತು. ನೀನು ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
16 But Elisha replied, “As surely as the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will not accept it.” And although Naaman urged him to accept it, he refused.
೧೬ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲೀಷನು, “ನಾನು ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ದೇವರು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಜೀವಿಸುವ ದೇವರಾದದರಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಏನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದನು. ನಾಮಾನನು ಎಷ್ಟು ಒತ್ತಾಯಪಡಿಸಿದರೂ ಅವನು ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
17 “If you will not,” said Naaman, “please let me, your servant, be given as much soil as a pair of mules can carry. For your servant will never again make a burnt offering or a sacrifice to any other god but the LORD.
೧೭ಆಗ ನಾಮಾನನು ಎಲೀಷನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನನಗೆ ಎರಡು ಹೇಸರಗತ್ತೆಯ ಹೊರುವಷ್ಟು ಮಣ್ಣನ್ನು ಕೊಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಯೆಹೋವನೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೇ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
18 Yet may the LORD forgive your servant this one thing: When my master goes into the temple of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my arm, and I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the LORD forgive your servant in this matter.”
೧೮ಆದರೆ ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಲಿ, ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ಆರಾಧನೆಗೋಸ್ಕರ ರಿಮ್ಮೋನನ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಕೈಹಿಡಿದು ಆ ದೇವತೆಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ನಾನೂ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು. ಈ ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನನಗೆ ಕ್ಷಮೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದನು.
19 “Go in peace,” said Elisha. But after Naaman had traveled a short distance,
೧೯ಎಲೀಷನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಸಮಾಧಾನದಿಂದ ಹೋಗು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಅವನು ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
20 Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “Look, my master has spared this Aramean, Naaman, while not accepting what he brought. As surely as the LORD lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”
೨೦ನಾಮಾನನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದ ನಂತರ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾದ ಎಲೀಷನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಗೇಹಜಿಯು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ, “ನೋಡು, ನನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನು ಆ ಅರಾಮ್ಯನಾದ ನಾಮಾನನಿಂದ ಏನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನಲ್ಲಾ, ಯೆಹೋವನಾಣೆ, ನಾನು ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಓಡುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನಿಂದ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವನ್ನಾದರೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವೆನು” ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಟನು.
21 So Gehazi pursued Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running toward him, he got down from the chariot to meet him and asked, “Is everything all right?”
೨೧ನಾಮಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಓಡುತ್ತಾ ಬರುವ ಗೇಹಜಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ರಥದಿಂದ ಇಳಿದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡು, “ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ಷೇಮವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
22 “Everything is all right,” Gehazi replied. “My master has sent me to say, ‘I have just now discovered that two young men from the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.’”
೨೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಗೇಹಜಿಯು, “ಕ್ಷೇಮ, ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ಪರ್ವತ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಿಂದ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಮಂಡಳಿಯವರಾದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರು ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಬೇಗನೇ ಒಂದು ತಲಾಂತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಎರಡು ಜೋಡಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಬೇಕೆಂದು ನನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
23 But Naaman insisted, “Please, take two talents.” And he urged Gehazi to accept them. Then he tied up two talents of silver in two bags along with two sets of clothing and gave them to two of his servants, who carried them ahead of Gehazi.
೨೩ನಾಮಾನನು, “ಎರಡು ತಲಾಂತನ್ನಾದರೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದೆ?” ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯಪಡಿಸಿ ಎರಡು ಚೀಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಸಿ, ಆ ಚೀಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಜೋಡಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಇಟ್ಟು ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸೇವಕರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊರಿಸಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಗೇಹಜಿಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದರು.
24 When Gehazi came to the hill, he took the gifts from the servants and stored them in the house. Then he dismissed the men, and they departed.
೨೪ಗೇಹಜಿಯು ಗುಡ್ಡವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ, ಎರಡು ಚೀಲ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಸಿಟ್ಟು, ಆಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು, ಅವರು ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು.
25 When Gehazi went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, “Gehazi, where have you been?” “Your servant did not go anywhere,” he replied.
೨೫ನಂತರ ಗೇಹಜಿಯು ತನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಎಲೀಷನು ಅವನನ್ನು, “ಗೇಹಜಿಯೇ, ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಂದಿರುವೆ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
26 But Elisha questioned him, “Did not my spirit go with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to accept money and clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, menservants and maidservants?
೨೬ಆಗ ಎಲೀಷನು ಗೇಹಜಿಗೆ, “ಒಬ್ಬನು ರಥದಿಂದ ಇಳಿದು ಬಂದು, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡದ್ದು ನನ್ನ ಜ್ಞಾನದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಿರುವೆಯಾ? ದ್ರವ್ಯ, ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳು, ಎಣ್ಣೇ ಮರದ ತೋಪುಗಳು, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟಗಳು, ಕುರಿದನಗಳು, ದಾಸದಾಸಿಯರು, ಜನರೂ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇದು ಸಮಯವೋ?
27 Therefore, the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and your descendants forever!” And as Gehazi left his presence, he was leprous—as white as snow.
೨೭ನಾಮಾನನ ಕುಷ್ಠವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತಾನದವರನ್ನೂ ಸದಾಕಾಲ ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವುದು” ಎಂದನು. ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕುಷ್ಠ ಹತ್ತಿತು. ಗೇಹಜಿ ಹಿಮದಂತೆ ಬಿಳುಪಾಗಿ ಎಲೀಷನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
