2 Kings 3
1 In the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat’s reign over Judah, Jehoram son of Ahab became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria twelve years.
೧ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಹದಿನೆಂಟನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಹಾಬನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋರಾಮನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ವರ್ಷ ಆಳಿದನು.
2 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as his father and mother had done. He removed the sacred pillar of Baal that his father had made.
೨ಇವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳಷ್ಟು ದುಷ್ಟನಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರೋಹಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಬಾಳನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಸ್ತಂಭ, ಸ್ಮಾರಕಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದನು.
3 Nevertheless, he clung to the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit; he did not turn away from them.
೩ಆದರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದ ನೆಬಾಟನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬಾಮನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
4 Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder, and he would render to the king of Israel a hundred thousand lambs and the wool of a hundred thousand rams.
೪ಅನೇಕ ಕುರಿಹಿಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಮೇಷನೆಂಬುವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಲಕ್ಷ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಒಂದು ಲಕ್ಷ ಟಗರುಗಳ ಉಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನು ಕಪ್ಪವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
5 But after the death of Ahab, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
೫ಆದರೆ ಅಹಾಬನು ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದ ನಂತರ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದನು.
6 So at that time King Jehoram set out from Samaria and mobilized all Israel.
೬ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋರಾಮನು ಕೂಡಲೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದನು.
7 And he sent a message to Jehoshaphat king of Judah: “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?” “I will go,” replied Jehoshaphat. “I am like you, my people are your people, and my horses are your horses.”
೭ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನಿಗೆ ದೂತರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ, “ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ನನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನೂ ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತೀಯೋ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, “ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನೂ ನೀನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಜನರೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರೂ, ನನ್ನ ಕುದುರೆಗಳೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕುದುರೆಗಳೂ ಒಂದೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೋ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
8 Then he asked, “Which way shall we go up?” “By way of the Desert of Edom,” replied Joram.
೮ಮತ್ತೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, “ಯಾವ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದಾಗ ಯೋರಾಮನು, “ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ” ಎಂದನು.
9 So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom set out, and after they had traveled a roundabout route for seven days, they had no water for their army or for their animals.
೯ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ, ಎದೋಮ್ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಅರಸರು ಹೊರಟು ಸುತ್ತು ಬಳಸು ದಾರಿಯಿಂದ ಏಳು ದಿನಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸೈನಿಕರಿಗೂ, ಅವರು ತಂದ ಪಶುಗಳಿಗೂ ನೀರು ಸಿಕ್ಕದೆ ಹೋಯಿತು.
10 “Alas,” said the king of Israel, “for the LORD has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab!”
೧೦ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸರು, “ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸರಾದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಗೋಳಾಡಿದರು.
11 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the LORD here? Let us inquire of the LORD through him.” And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”
೧೧ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ವಿಚಾರಿಸಬಲ್ಲವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಶಾಫಾಟನ ಮಗನು, ಎಲೀಯನ ಕೈಗೆ ನೀರು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವನೂ ಆದ ಎಲೀಷನೆಂಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಇಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
12 Jehoshaphat affirmed, “The word of the LORD is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
೧೨ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು, “ಅವನು ಹೇಗೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವನು” ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್, ಎದೋಮ್ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಅರಸರು ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನೊಡನೆ ಎಲೀಷನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.
13 Elisha, however, said to the king of Israel, “What have we to do with each other? Go to the prophets of your father and of your mother!” “No,” replied the king of Israel, “for it is the LORD who has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
೧೩ಎಲೀಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನನಗೂ ನಿನಗೂ ಏನು ಸಂಬಂಧ? ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನು, “ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಡ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಈ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸರಾದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದನಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದನು.
14 Then Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not for my regard for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or acknowledge you.
೧೪ಆಗ ಎಲೀಷನು, “ನಾನು ಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸೇನಾಧೀಶ್ವರನಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಾಣೆ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನು ನಿನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿರದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
15 But now, bring me a harpist.” And while the harpist played, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha
೧೫ಈಗ, ಒಬ್ಬ ವಾದ್ಯಗಾರನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ವಾದ್ಯಗಳ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವಾಗಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಎಲೀಷನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಬಲವು ಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
16 and he said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Dig this valley full of ditches.’
೧೬ಅನಂತರ ಎಲೀಷನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, “ಈ ಹಳ್ಳದಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಗುಂಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರಿ.
17 For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the valley will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’
೧೭‘ನೀವು ಗಾಳಿ, ಮಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅದು ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬುವುದು. ನೀವೂ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುರಿದನಗಳೂ, ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಬಹುದು’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ.
18 This is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD, and He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
೧೮“ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವೂ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿರುವುದು. ಅದೇ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವನು.
19 And you shall attack every fortified city and every city of importance. You shall cut down every good tree, stop up every spring, and ruin every good field with stones.”
೧೯ನೀವು ಅವರ ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನೂ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಊರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಮರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿ, ಒರತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಹೊಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಸಿ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದನು.
20 The next morning, at the time of the morning sacrifice, water suddenly flowed from the direction of Edom and filled the land.
೨೦ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಕನೆ ಎದೋಮಿನ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ನೀರು ಬಂದು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡಿತು.
21 Now all the Moabites had heard that the kings had come up to fight against them. So all who could bear arms, young and old, were summoned and stationed at the border.
೨೧ಅರಸರು ತಮಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆಂಬುವುದನ್ನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರು ಕೇಳಿ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಲು ಶಕ್ತರಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಗಡಿಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.
22 When they got up early in the morning, the sun was shining on the water, and it looked as red as blood to the Moabites across the way.
೨೨ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ, ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದ ನೀರು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿತು. ಸೂರ್ಯಪ್ರಕಾಶದಿಂದ ಆ ನೀರು ರಕ್ತದಂತೆ ಕೆಂಪಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
23 “This is blood!” they exclaimed. “The kings have clashed swords and slaughtered one another. Now to the plunder, Moab!”
೨೩ಇವರು, “ಅದು ರಕ್ತ! ಅರಸರು ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಜಗಳವಾಡಿ ಸಂಹಾರರಾಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರೇ ಏಳಿರಿ, ಸುಲಿಗೆಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ!” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪಾಳೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು.
24 But when the Moabites came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and attacked them, and they fled before them. So the Israelites invaded their land and struck down the Moabites.
೨೪ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಎದ್ದು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು.
25 They destroyed the cities, and each man threw stones on every good field until it was covered. They stopped up every spring and cut down every good tree. Only Kir-haraseth was left with stones in place, but men with slings surrounded it and attacked it as well.
೨೫ಅವರು ದೇಶದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಹೊಲಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದರು. ಒರತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ, ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿದರು. ಕೀರ್ಹರೆಷೆತ್ ಎಂಬ ಒಂದು ಮಾರ್ಗ ಉಳಿಯಿತು. ಕವಣೆಹೊಡೆಯುವವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದರು.
26 When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not prevail.
೨೬ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು ತಾನು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಲ್ಲಲಾರೆನೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು, ಏಳು ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಭಟರೊಡನೆ, ಸೈನ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ಅರಸನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಆಗದೆಹೋಯಿತು.
27 So he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him, and offered him as a burnt offering on the city wall. And there was great fury against the Israelites, so they withdrew and returned to their own land.
೨೭ಆಗ ಅವನು ತನಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅರಸನಾಗತಕ್ಕ ತನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಮಗನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ವಧಿಸಿ ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪೋದ್ರೇಕ ಉಂಟಾಗಲು ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದರು.
