2 Kings 3
1 In the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat’s reign over Judah, Jehoram son of Ahab became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria twelve years.
১যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফটের রাজত্বের আঠারো বছরে আহাবের ছেলে যিহোরাম শমরিয়ায় ইস্রায়েলের উপরে রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন এবং বারো বছর রাজত্ব করেন।
2 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as his father and mother had done. He removed the sacred pillar of Baal that his father had made.
২সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা মন্দ, তিনি তাই করতেন; তবে তাঁর বাবা মায়ের মত ছিলেন না; কারণ তাঁর বাবার তৈরী বাল দেবতার মূর্ত্তি তিনি দূর করে দিলেন।
3 Nevertheless, he clung to the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit; he did not turn away from them.
৩কিন্তু নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়াম ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে যে সব পাপ করিয়েছিলেন, তাঁর সেই সব পাপে তিনি মেতে থাকলেন, সেই সব থেকে ফিরলেন না।
4 Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder, and he would render to the king of Israel a hundred thousand lambs and the wool of a hundred thousand rams.
৪মোয়াবের রাজা মেশার অনেক ভেড়া ছিল; তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজাকে কর হিসাবে এক লক্ষ ভেড়ার বাচ্চা ও এক লক্ষ ভেড়ার লোম দিতেন।
5 But after the death of Ahab, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
৫কিন্তু আহাবের মৃত্যুর পর মোয়াবের রাজা ইস্রায়েলের রাজার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করলেন।
6 So at that time King Jehoram set out from Samaria and mobilized all Israel.
৬তখন রাজা যিহোরাম শমরিয়া থেকে বের হয়ে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলকে জড়ো করলেন।
7 And he sent a message to Jehoshaphat king of Judah: “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?” “I will go,” replied Jehoshaphat. “I am like you, my people are your people, and my horses are your horses.”
৭পরে তিনি যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফটের কাছে দূত পাঠিয়ে বললেন, “মোয়াবের রাজা আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করেছে, আপনি কি আমার সঙ্গে মোয়াবের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করবেন?” তিনি বললেন, “করবো, আমি ও আপনি, আমার লোক ও আপনার লোক, আমার ঘোড়া ও আপনার ঘোড়া, সবই এক।”
8 Then he asked, “Which way shall we go up?” “By way of the Desert of Edom,” replied Joram.
৮তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আমরা কোন্ পথ দিয়ে যাব?” যিহোরাম বললেন, “ইদোমের মরুপ্রান্তের পথ দিয়ে।”
9 So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom set out, and after they had traveled a roundabout route for seven days, they had no water for their army or for their animals.
৯পরে যিহূদার রাজা ও ইদোমের রাজার সঙ্গে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বের হলেন; তাঁরা সাত দিনের র পথ ঘুরে গেলেন; তখন তাঁদের সৈন্যদলের ও তাদের সঙ্গে আসা পশুদের জন্য জল পাওয়া গেল না।
10 “Alas,” said the king of Israel, “for the LORD has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab!”
১০ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বললেন, “হায়, হায়! সদাপ্রভু মোয়াবের হাতে তুলে দেবার জন্যই কি এই তিন রাজাকে একসঙ্গে ডেকেছেন?”
11 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the LORD here? Let us inquire of the LORD through him.” And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”
১১কিন্তু যিহোশাফট বললেন, “এখানে কি সদাপ্রভুর কোনো ভাববাদী নেই যে, তাঁর মাধ্যমে আমরা সদাপ্রভুর খোঁজ করতে পারি?” ইস্রায়েলের রাজার একজন দাস উত্তরে বলল, “শাফটের ছেলে ইলীশায় যে এলিয়ের হাতের উপর জল ঢালতেন, তিনি এখানে আছেন।”
12 Jehoshaphat affirmed, “The word of the LORD is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
১২যিহোশাফট বললেন, “সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য তাঁর কাছে আছে।” পরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা, ইদোমের রাজা ও যিহোশাফট তাঁর কাছে নেমে গেলেন।
13 Elisha, however, said to the king of Israel, “What have we to do with each other? Go to the prophets of your father and of your mother!” “No,” replied the king of Israel, “for it is the LORD who has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
১৩তখন ইলীশায় ইস্রায়েলের রাজাকে বললেন, “আপনার সঙ্গে আমার কিসের সম্পর্ক? আপনি আপনার বাবা অথবা মায়ের ভাববাদীদের কাছে যান।” ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বললেন, “তা নয়, কারণ মোয়াবের হাতে তুলে দেবার জন্য সদাপ্রভু এই তিন রাজাকে একসঙ্গে ডেকেছেন।”
14 Then Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not for my regard for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or acknowledge you.
১৪ইলীশায় বললেন, “আমি যাঁর সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে আছি, সেই বাহিনীগনের জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্যি যদি, যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফটের মুখের দিকে না চাইতাম, তবে আমি আপনার দিকে চেয়েও দেখতাম না, খেয়ালও করতাম না।
15 But now, bring me a harpist.” And while the harpist played, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha
১৫যাই হোক, এখন বীণা বাজায় এমন একজন লোককে আমার কাছে নিয়ে আসুন।” পরে লোকটি যখন বীণা বাজাচ্ছিল তখন সদাপ্রভুর হাত ইলীশায়ের উপর আসল।
16 and he said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Dig this valley full of ditches.’
১৬আর তিনি বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, তোমরা এই উপত্যকায় অনেক খাদ তৈরী কর।
17 For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the valley will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’
১৭কারণ সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, তোমরা বাতাস কিংবা বৃষ্টি দেখতে না পেলেও এই উপত্যকা জলে ভরে যাবে; তাতে তোমরা, তোমাদের গৃহপালিতেরা ও অন্যান্য সব পশুও জল খাবে।
18 This is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD, and He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
১৮আর সদাপ্রভুর চোখে এটা খুব ছোট বিষয়, তিনি মোয়াবকেও তোমাদের হাতে তুলে দেবেন।
19 And you shall attack every fortified city and every city of importance. You shall cut down every good tree, stop up every spring, and ruin every good field with stones.”
১৯তখন তোমরা দেওয়াল ঘেরা নগর এবং প্রত্যেকটি ভালো নগরে আঘাত করবে, আর প্রত্যেকটি ভাল গাছ কেটে ফেলবে ও জলের সমস্ত উনুই বুজিয়ে দেবে এবং সব ভাল ক্ষেত পাথর দিয়ে নষ্ট করে দেবে।”
20 The next morning, at the time of the morning sacrifice, water suddenly flowed from the direction of Edom and filled the land.
২০পরে সকালবেলায় নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গের দিন ইদোমের পথ দিয়ে জল বয়ে এসে দেশটা ভরে গেল।
21 Now all the Moabites had heard that the kings had come up to fight against them. So all who could bear arms, young and old, were summoned and stationed at the border.
২১সমস্ত মোয়াবীয়েরা শুনতে পেল যে, সেই রাজারা তাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে এসেছেন, তখন যারা যুদ্ধসজ্জা পরতে পারত, তারা সবাই এবং তার থেকে বেশি বয়সের সবাই জড়ো হয়ে দেশের সীমানায় দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলো।
22 When they got up early in the morning, the sun was shining on the water, and it looked as red as blood to the Moabites across the way.
২২পরে তারা খুব সকালে ঘুম থেকে উঠল, তখন সূর্য্য জলের উপর চক্মক্ করছিল, তাতে মোয়াবীয়রা তাদের সামনের জলকে লাল রক্তের মত দেখল।
23 “This is blood!” they exclaimed. “The kings have clashed swords and slaughtered one another. Now to the plunder, Moab!”
২৩তখন তারা বলল, “এ যে রক্ত! সেই রাজারা নিশ্চয়ই ধ্বংস হয়েছে, আর লোকেরা নিজেদের মধ্যে মারামারি করে মারা গেছে; কাজেই হে মোয়াব, এখন লুট করতে চল।”
24 But when the Moabites came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and attacked them, and they fled before them. So the Israelites invaded their land and struck down the Moabites.
২৪পরে তারা ইস্রায়েলের শিবিরের কাছে গেল তখন ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা বের হয়ে মোয়াবীয়দের আক্রমণ করল, তাতে তারা তাদের সামনে থেকে পালিয়ে গেল এবং তারা মোয়াবীয়দের মারতে মারতে এগিয়ে গিয়ে তাদের দেশে ঢুকে পড়ল।
25 They destroyed the cities, and each man threw stones on every good field until it was covered. They stopped up every spring and cut down every good tree. Only Kir-haraseth was left with stones in place, but men with slings surrounded it and attacked it as well.
২৫তারা নগরগুলি ধ্বংস করল ও প্রত্যেকে পাথর ফেলে সমস্ত ভাল ক্ষেতগুলি ভর্তি করল এবং জলের সমস্ত উনুইগুলি বুজিয়ে দিল ও ভাল ভাল গাছপালা সব কেটে ফেলল, কেবল কীর্-হরাসতের সেখানকার পাথরগুলি বাকি রাখল, কিন্তু ফিঙ্গা হাতে সৈন্যেরা চারিদিকে ঘেরাও করে আঘাত করল।
26 When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not prevail.
২৬মোয়াবের রাজা যখন দেখলেন যে, তিনি যুদ্ধে হেরে যাচ্ছেন, তখন সৈন্যদলের মধ্য দিয়ে ইদোমের রাজার কাছে যাবার জন্য তাঁর সঙ্গে সাতশো তলোয়ারধারীকে নিলেন, কিন্তু তারা পারল না।
27 So he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him, and offered him as a burnt offering on the city wall. And there was great fury against the Israelites, so they withdrew and returned to their own land.
২৭পরে যে তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হত, তাঁর সেই বড় ছেলেকে নিয়ে তিনি প্রাচীরের উপরে হোমবলি হিসাবে উৎসর্গ করলেন। আর ইস্রায়েলের উপর ভয়ঙ্কর রাগ হল; পরে তারা তাঁর কাছ থেকে চলে গিয়ে নিজেদের দেশে ফিরে গেল।
