2 Kings 25
1 So in the ninth year of Zedekiah’s reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army. They encamped outside the city and built a siege wall all around it.
Or il arriva en la neuvième année du règne de Sédécias, au dixième jour, au dixième mois, que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, vint, lui et toute son armée, contre Jérusalem; et ils l’investirent, et y construisirent tout autour des fortifications.
2 And the city was kept under siege until King Zedekiah’s eleventh year.
Ainsi la ville fut enfermée et fortifiée jusqu’à la onzième année du roi Sédécias,
3 By the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine in the city was so severe that the people of the land had no food.
Au neuvième jour du mois, et la famine régna dans la ville; et il n’y avait pas de pain pour le peuple du pays.
4 Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
Et une brèche fut faite à la ville, et tous les hommes de guerre s’enfuirent durant la nuit, par la voie de la porte qui est entre le double mur près de la porte du jardin du roi (or les Chaldéens assiégeaient tout autour la ville): c’est pourquoi Sédécias s’enfuit par la voie qui conduit aux plaines du désert.
5 but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was separated from him.
Et l’armée des Chaldéens poursuivit le roi, et le prit dans la plaine de Jéricho; et tous les combattants qui étaient avec lui furent dispersés et l’abandonnèrent.
6 The Chaldeans seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, where they pronounced judgment on him.
Ayant donc pris le roi, ils l’amenèrent au roi de Babylone à Réblatha, lequel prononça contre lui un arrêt.
7 And they slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. Then they put out his eyes, bound him with bronze shackles, and took him to Babylon.
Quant aux fils de Sédécias, il les tua devant lui, puis il lui creva les yeux, le chargea de chaînes et l’emmena à Babylone.
8 On the seventh day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign over Babylon, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem.
Au cinquième mois, au septième jour du mois, c’est la dix-neuvième année même du roi de Babylone, Nabuzardan, chef d’armée, serviteur du roi de Babylone, vint à Jérusalem.
9 He burned down the house of the LORD, the royal palace, and all the houses of Jerusalem—every significant building.
Et il brûla la maison du Seigneur et la maison du roi, et il consuma les maisons de Jérusalem, et toute espèce de maison.
10 And the whole army of the Chaldeans under the captain of the guard broke down the walls around Jerusalem.
Toute l’armée des Chaldéens, qui était avec ce chef de soldats, détruisit les murs de Jérusalem tout autour.
11 Then Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried into exile the people who remained in the city, along with the deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon and the rest of the population.
Quant à l’autre partie du peuple qui était restée dans la ville, et aux transfuges qui avaient passé au roi de Babylone, et au reste du bas peuple, Nabuzardan, prince de la milice, les transporta à Babylone.
12 But the captain of the guard left behind some of the poorest of the land to tend the vineyards and fields.
Et il laissa d’entre les pauvres les vignerons et les laboureurs.
13 Moreover, the Chaldeans broke up the bronze pillars and stands and the bronze Sea in the house of the LORD, and they carried the bronze to Babylon.
Mais les colonnes d’airain qui étaient dans le temple du Seigneur, et les bases, et la mer d’airain qui était dans la maison du Seigneur, les Chaldéens les brisèrent, et ils transportèrent tout l’airain à Babylone.
14 They also took away the pots, shovels, wick trimmers, dishes, and all the articles of bronze used in the temple service.
Les marmites d’airain aussi, de même que les pelles, les tridents, les coupes, les petits mortiers, et tous les vases d’airain avec lesquels on faisait le service dans le temple, ils les emportèrent.
15 The captain of the guard also took away the censers and sprinkling bowls—anything made of pure gold or fine silver.
Le prince de la milice emporta également les encensoirs et les patères, ce qui était d’or, à part, et ce qui était d’argent, à part.
16 As for the two pillars, the Sea, and the movable stands that Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the weight of the bronze from all these articles was beyond measure.
C’est-à-dire les deux colonnes, la mer et les bases qu’avait faites Salomon dans le temple du Seigneur; il n’y avait pas de poids pour l’airain de tous ces vases.
17 Each pillar was eighteen cubits tall. The bronze capital atop one pillar was three cubits high, with a network of bronze pomegranates all around. The second pillar, with its network, was similar.
L’une des colonnes avait dix-huit coudées de hauteur, et le chapiteau d’airain de dessus, était de trois coudées de hauteur: et il y avait un réseau et des grenades sur le chapiteau de la colonne; le tout était d’airain: la seconde colonne aussi avait un semblable ornement.
18 The captain of the guard also took away Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest of second rank, and the three doorkeepers.
Le prince de la milice emmena aussi Saraïas, le premier prêtre, et Sophonias, second prêtre, et les trois portiers.
19 Of those still in the city, he took a court official who had been appointed over the men of war, as well as five royal advisors. He also took the scribe of the captain of the army, who had enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
Et un eunuque de la ville qui commandait aux hommes de guerre, et cinq hommes qui étaient toujours devant le roi, qu’il trouva dans la ville, et Sopher, le prince de l’armée, qui exerçait les jeunes soldats pris d’entre le peuple du pays, et soixante hommes du bas peuple, qui avaient été trouvés dans la ville.
20 Nebuzaradan captain of the guard took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
Nabuzardan, chef des soldats, les ayant pris, les amena au roi de Babylone à Réblatha.
21 There at Riblah in the land of Hamath, the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death. So Judah was taken into exile, away from its own land.
Et le roi de Babylone les frappa et les tua à Réblatha, dans la terre d’Emath; ainsi Juda fut transféré hors de son pays,
22 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, over the people he had left behind in the land of Judah.
Quant au peuple qui était resté dans la terre de Juda, qu’avait laissé Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, il mit à sa tête Godolias, fils d’Ahicam, fils de Saphan.
23 When all the commanders of the armies and their men heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah as governor, they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah—Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maacathite, as well as their men.
Ce qu’ayant appris tous les chefs des soldats, eux et les hommes qui étaient avec eux, à savoir que le roi de Babylone avait établi Godolias pour gouverneur, Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, Johanan, fils de Carée, et Saraïa, fils de Thanéhumeth, le Nétophathite, et Jézonias, fils de Maachathi, vinrent vers Godolias à Maspha, eux et tous les leurs.
24 And Gedaliah took an oath before them and their men, assuring them, “Do not be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.”
Et Godolias leur jura, à eux et aux leurs, disant: Ne craignez point de servir les Chaldéens; demeurez dans cette terre, et servez le roi de Babylone, et vous serez bien.
25 In the seventh month, however, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, who was a member of the royal family, came with ten men and struck down and killed Gedaliah, along with the Judeans and Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah.
Or il arriva, au septième mois après, qu’Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, fils d’Elisama, de la race royale, vint à Maspha, et dix hommes avec lui; et ils frappèrent Godolias, qui mourut, et aussi les Juifs et les Chaldéens qui étaient avec lui.
26 Then all the people small and great, together with the commanders of the army, arose and fled to Egypt for fear of the Chaldeans.
Et se levant, tout le peuple, depuis le petit jusqu’au grand, et les chefs des soldats, vinrent en Egypte, craignant les Chaldéens.
27 On the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month of the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Judah’s King Jehoiachin, in the year Evil-merodach became king of Babylon, he released King Jehoiachin of Judah from prison.
Mais il arriva qu’en la trente-septième année de la captivité de Joachin, roi de Juda, au douzième mois, au vingt-septième jour du mois, Evilmérodach, roi de Babylone, en l’année même qu’il commença à régner tira Joachin, roi de Juda, de prison.
28 And he spoke kindly to Jehoiachin and set his throne above the thrones of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
Et il lui parla avec bonté, et il mit son trône au-dessus du trône des rois qui étaient auprès de lui à Babylone.
29 So Jehoiachin changed out of his prison clothes, and he dined regularly at the king’s table for the rest of his life.
Et il changea ses vêtements qu’il avait eus dans la prison; et Joachin mangea toujours du pain en sa présence tous les jour? de sa vie.
30 And the king provided Jehoiachin a daily portion for the rest of his life.
Il lui assigna aussi sans interruption des vivres, qui même lui étaient donnés chaque jour par le roi, tous les jours de sa vie.
