2 Kings 2
1 Shortly before the LORD took Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal,
Um diese Zeit aber, da Jahwe Elia im Wetter gen Himmel fahren ließ ging Elia mit Elisa aus dem Gilgal hinweg.
2 and Elijah said to Elisha, “Please stay here, for the LORD has sent me on to Bethel.” But Elisha replied, “As surely as the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.
Und Elia sprach zu Elisa: Bleibe doch hier, denn Jahwe hat mich bis nach Bethel gesandt. Elisa aber antwortete: So wahr Jahwe lebt, und so wahr du lebst, ich verlasse dich nicht! So stiegen sie hinab nach Bethel.
3 Then the sons of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and said, “Do you know that the LORD will take your master away from you today?” “Yes, I know,” he replied. “Do not speak of it.”
Da gingen die Prophetenjünger, die zu Bethel waren, zu Elisa heraus und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du wohl, daß dir Jahwe heute deinen Herrn über deinen Häupten hinwegnehmen wird? Er antwortete: Auch ich weiß es; schweigt nur still!
4 And Elijah said to Elisha, “Please stay here, for the LORD has sent me on to Jericho.” But Elisha replied, “As surely as the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho.
Da sprach Elia zu ihm: Elisa, bleibe doch hier, denn Jahwe hat mich nach Jericho gesandt! Er aber antwortete: So wahr Jahwe lebt, und so wahr du lebst, ich verlasse dich nicht! So kamen sie nach Jericho.
5 Then the sons of the prophets at Jericho came up to Elisha and said, “Do you know that the LORD will take your master away from you today?” “Yes, I know,” he replied. “Do not speak of it.”
Da traten die Prophetenjünger, die zu Jericho waren, zu Elisa heran und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du wohl, daß dir Jahwe heute deinen Herrn über deinen Häupten hinwegnehmen wird? Er antwortete: Auch ich weiß es; schweigt nur still!
6 And Elijah said to Elisha, “Please stay here, for the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan.” But Elisha replied, “As surely as the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them went on.
Da sprach Elia zu ihm: Bleibe doch hier, denn Jahwe hat mich an den Jordan gesandt. Er aber antwortete: So wahr Jahwe lebt, und so wahr du lebst, ich verlasse dich nicht! Also gingen die beiden miteinander.
7 Then a company of fifty of the sons of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing Elijah and Elisha as the two of them stood by the Jordan.
Aber fünfzig Mann von den Prophetenjüngern gingen hin und stellten sich abseits in einiger Entfernung auf; die beiden aber traten an den Jordan.
8 And Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up, and struck the waters, which parted to the right and to the left, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.
Da nahm Elia seinen Mantel, wickelte ihn zusammen und schlug ins Wasser; da zerteilte es sich nach beiden Seiten, so daß die beiden auf dem Trockenen hindurchgingen.
9 After they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken away from you?” “Please, let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.
Als sie aber hinüber gelangt waren, sprach Elia zu Elisa: Bitte von mir, was ich dir thun soll, ehe ich von dir genommen werde. Elisa antwortete: Möchte mir denn ein doppelter Anteil an deinem Geiste zu teil werden!
10 “You have requested a difficult thing,” said Elijah. “Nevertheless, if you see me as I am taken from you, it will be yours. But if not, then it will not be so.”
Da sprach er: Du hast Schweres erbeten. Wirst du mich sehen, wie ich von dir genommen werde, so wird dir solches zu teil werden; wenn aber nicht, so wird es nicht geschehen.
11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire with horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up into heaven in a whirlwind.
Während sie nun in solcher Unterredung immer weiter gingen, erschien plötzlich ein feuriger Wagen und feurige Rosse; die trennten beide von einander, und Elia fuhr also im Wetter gen Himmel.
12 As Elisha watched, he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And he saw Elijah no more. So taking hold of his own clothes, he tore them in two.
Als Elisa das sah, schrie er: Mein Vater, mein Vater! du Israels Wagen und Reiter! Dann aber sah er ihn nicht mehr. Da erfaßte er seine Kleider und zerriß sie in zwei Stücke.
13 Elisha also picked up the cloak that had fallen from Elijah, and he went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.
Sodann hob er den Mantel Elias auf, der ihm entfallen war, kehrte um und trat an das Ufer des Jordans.
14 Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the waters. “Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” he asked. And when he had struck the waters, they parted to the right and to the left, and Elisha crossed over.
Da nahm er den Mantel Elias, der ihm entfallen war, schlug ins Wasser und sprach: Wo ist denn nun Jahwe, der Gott Elias? Als er aber ins Wasser schlug, zerteilte es sich nach beiden Seiten, und Elisa ging hindurch.
15 When the sons of the prophets who were facing him from Jericho saw what had happened, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.
Als das die Prophetenjünger zu Jericho drüben wahrnahmen, sprachen sie: Der Geist Elias ruht auf Elisa! Und sie kamen ihm entgegen, verneigten sich vor ihm bis auf den Boden
16 “Look now,” they said to Elisha, “we your servants have fifty valiant men. Please let them go and search for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and put him on one of the mountains or in one of the valleys.” “Do not send them,” Elisha replied.
und sprachen zu ihm: Sieh, es befinden sich hier bei deinen Knechten fünfzig rüstige Männer; laß sie doch gehen und deinen Herrn suchen, ob ihn nicht etwa der Geist Jahwes entführt und auf irgend einen Berg oder in irgend ein Thal geworfen hat. Er aber sprach: Sendet nicht!
17 But when they pressed him to the point of embarrassment, he said, “Send them.” And they sent fifty men, who searched for three days but did not find Elijah.
Als sie jedoch bis zum Äußersten in ihn drangen, sprach er: So sendet hin! Da sandten sie fünfzig Mann; die suchten drei Tage lang, fanden ihn aber nicht.
18 When they returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho, he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you not to go?”
Und sie kehrten zu ihm zurück, während er noch zu Jericho weilte; da sprach er zu ihnen: Sagte ich euch nicht, ihr solltet nicht hingehen?
19 Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Please note, our lord, that the city’s location is good, as you can see. But the water is bad and the land is unfruitful.”
Und die Bürger der Stadt sprachen zu Elisa: Die Lage der Stadt ist ja gut, wie du selbst siehst, o Herr; aber das Wasser ist schlecht, und die Gegend verursacht häufig Fehlgeburten.
20 “Bring me a new bowl,” he replied, “and put some salt in it.” So they brought it to him,
Da sprach er: Bringt mir eine neue Schale und thut Salz darein! Als man sie ihm gebracht hatte,
21 and Elisha went out to the spring, cast the salt into it, and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘I have healed this water. No longer will it cause death or unfruitfulness.’”
ging er hinaus an den Quellort des Wassers, warf das Salz hinein und sprach: So spricht Jahwe: Ich habe dieses Wasser gesund gemacht; fortan soll es weder Tod noch Fehlgeburt mehr verursachen.
22 And the waters there have been healthy to this day, according to the word spoken by Elisha.
Also ward das Wasser gesund bis auf den heutigen Tag nach dem Worte, das Elisa geredet hatte.
23 From there, Elisha went up to Bethel, and as he was walking up the road, a group of boys came out of the city and jeered at him, chanting, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!”
Von dort aber ging er hinauf nach Bethel. Als er nun eben den Weg hinaufging, kamen kleine Knaben aus der Stadt heraus und verspotteten ihn mit dem Zuruf: Komm herauf, Kahlkopf! Komm herauf, Kahlkopf!
24 Then he turned around, looked at them, and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Suddenly two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.
Er aber wandte sich um; und als er sie sah, fluchte er ihnen im Namen Jahwes. Da kamen zwei Bärinnen aus dem Wald und zerrissen zweiundvierzig von den Kindern.
25 And Elisha went on to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
Von da aber begab er sich nach dem Berge Karmel und kehrte von dort nach Samaria zurück.
