2 Kings 18

1 In the third year of the reign of Hoshea son of Elah over Israel, Hezekiah son of Ahaz became king of Judah.

೧ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೂ ಏಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹೋಶೇಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಮೂರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದ ರಾಜನಾದ ಆಹಾಜನ ಮಗ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಗೆ ಬಂದನು.

2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abi, the daughter of Zechariah.

೨ಇವನು ಪಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ವರ್ಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೊಂಭತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಆಳಿದನು. ಜೆಕರ್ಯನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಅಬೀ ಎಂಬಾಕೆಯು ಇವನ ತಾಯಿ.

3 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done.

೩ಇವನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಂತೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಚಿತ್ತಾನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದನು.

4 He removed the high places, shattered the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He also demolished the bronze snake called Nehushtan that Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had burned incense to it.

೪ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿ, ಕಲ್ಲುಕಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದು, ಅಶೇರ ವಿಗ್ರಹ ಸ್ತಂಭಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಹಾಕಿದನು. ಮೋಶೆಯು ಮಾಡಿಸಿದ ತಾಮ್ರದ ಸರ್ಪವನ್ನು ಚೂರು‍ಚೂರು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆ ವರೆಗೂ ಧೂಪವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ “ನೆಹುಷ್ಟಾನ್” ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿತ್ತು.

5 Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. No king of Judah was like him, either before him or after him.

೫ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನು. ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಇವನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದ ಅರಸನು ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಆಮೇಲೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

6 He remained faithful to the LORD and did not turn from following Him; he kept the commandments that the LORD had given Moses.

೬ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಇವನು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನೇ ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಆತನನ್ನು ಬಿಡದೆ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ, ಮೋಶೆಯ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ನಡೆದನು.

7 And the LORD was with Hezekiah, and he prospered wherever he went. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and refused to serve him.

೭ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಹೋದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಡೆ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹೊಂದಿದನು. ಇವನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ದಂಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರನಾದನು.

8 He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza and its borders, from watchtower to fortified city.

೮ಗಾಜ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದವರೆಗೆ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ, ಕಾವಲುಗಾರರ ಗೋಪುರ ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಚಿಕ್ಕಗ್ರಾಮ ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಮಹಾನಗರಗಳವರೆಗೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಊರುಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದನು.

9 In the fourth year of Hezekiah’s reign, which was the seventh year of the reign of Hoshea son of Elah over Israel, Shalmaneser king of Assyria marched against Samaria and besieged it.

೯ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನೂ ಏಲನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಹೋಶೇಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಏಳನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಶಲ್ಮನೆಸರನು ಸಮಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳವರೆಗೂ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಅದನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.

10 And at the end of three years, the Assyrians captured it. So Samaria was captured in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel.

೧೦ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ತರುವಾಯ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹೋಶೇಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಒಂಭತ್ತನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಆರನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಸಮಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.

11 The king of Assyria exiled the Israelites to Assyria and settled them in Halah, in Gozan by the Habor River, and in the cities of the Medes.

೧೧ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಲಹು, ಹಾಬೋರ್ ನದಿಯಿರುವ ಗೋಜಾನ್ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯ, ಮೇದ್ಯರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಿದನು.

12 This happened because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD their God, but violated His covenant—all that Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded—and would neither listen nor obey.

೧೨ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೆ ಆತನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ, ಆತನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಮೋಶೆಯ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯರಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇವರ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡದೇ ಅವುಗಳಂತೆ ನಡೆಯದೇ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಹೀಗಾಯಿತು.

13 In the fourteenth year of Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked and captured all the fortified cities of Judah.

೧೩ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸನ್ಹೇರೀಬನು ಬಂದು ಯೆಹೂದ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.

14 So Hezekiah king of Judah sent word to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have done wrong; withdraw from me, and I will pay whatever you demand from me.” And the king of Assyria exacted from Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

೧೪ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಲಾಕೀಷಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಅಪರಾಧಿ; ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗು. ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ವಿಧಿಸುವಷ್ಟು ದಂಡವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನು ಮುನ್ನೂರು ತಲಾಂತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಮೂವತ್ತು ತಲಾಂತು ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.

15 Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the royal palace.

೧೫ಆಗ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಅರಸನ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಭಂಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

16 At that time Hezekiah stripped the gold with which he had plated the doors and doorposts of the temple of the LORD, and he gave it to the king of Assyria.

೧೬ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯದ ಕದಗಳಿಗೂ, ಕಂಬಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೊದಿಸಿದ್ದ ಬಂಗಾರದ ತಗಡನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

17 Nevertheless, the king of Assyria sent the Tartan, the Rabsaris, and the Rabshakeh, along with a great army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They advanced up to Jerusalem and stationed themselves by the aqueduct of the upper pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field.

೧೭ಆದರೆ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನು ಲಾಕೀಷಿನಿಂದ ಮಹಾಸೈನ್ಯ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ತರ್ತಾನ್, ರಬ್ಸಾರೀಸ್, ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆ ಎಂಬುವವರನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಇವರು ಗಟ್ಟಾ ಹತ್ತಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅಗಸರ ಹೊಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗುವ ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇರುವ ಕೆರೆಯ ಕಾಲುವೆಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

18 Then they called for the king; and Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebnah the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder, went out to them.

೧೮ಅವರು ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕೂಗಿ ಕರೆದಾಗ, ಹಿಲ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಗನೂ, ರಾಜಗೃಹಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಎಲ್ಯಾಕೀಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶೆಬ್ನ, ಆಸಾಫನ ಮಗನೂ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಯೋವ ಎಂಬುವವರು ಅವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

19 The Rabshakeh said to them, “Tell Hezekiah that this is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: What is the basis of this confidence of yours?

೧೯ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯು ಅವರಿಗೆ, ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನಿಗೆ ಮಹಾರಾಜನಾದ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ. ಅವನು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಭರವಸಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾವ ಆಧಾರವುಂಟು?

20 You claim to have a strategy and strength for war, but these are empty words. In whom are you now trusting, that you have rebelled against me?

೨೦ಬರೀ ಒಂದು ಬಾಯಿ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ವಿವೇಕವೂ, ಬಲವೂ ಉಂಟೆಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರುವೆಯೋ? ನೀನು ಯಾರ ಮೇಲೆ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟು ನನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವೆ?

21 Look now, you are trusting in Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff that will pierce the hand of anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

೨೧ಜಜ್ಜಿದ ದಂಟಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನವಾಗಿರುವ ಐಗುಪ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟಿರುವೆಯೋ? ಒಬ್ಬನು ಅಂಥ ದಂಟಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಯೂರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಾದರೆ ಅದು ಅವನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ತಿವಿದು ಒಳಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದಲ್ಲವೇ; ಐಗುಪ್ತದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಫರೋಹನನಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟವರಿಗೆ ಇದೇ ಗತಿಯಾಗುವುದು.

22 But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ is He not the One whose high places and altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem: ‘You must worship before this altar in Jerusalem’?

೨೨ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನೀವು, ‘ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದಾದರೆ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು, ‘ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಆರಾಧನೆಮಾಡಬೇಕು’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೂ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರಿಗೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ಆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲಾ,

23 Now, therefore, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them!

೨೩ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸವಾಲು ಮಾಡಿನೋಡು. ಆಗ ಕುದುರೆ ಸವಾರರನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವಿದ್ದರೆ ಆತನು ಎರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಕುದುರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

24 For how can you repel a single officer among the least of my master’s servants when you depend on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?

೨೪ಹೀಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿ ಸಣ್ಣವನನ್ನಾದರೂ ಸೋಲಿಸುವುದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ? ರಥಾಶ್ವಬಲಗಳ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಐಗುಪ್ತರ ಮೇಲೆ ಭರವಸೆಯಿಟ್ಟಿರುವೆ.

25 So now, was it apart from the LORD that I have come up against this place to destroy it? The LORD Himself said to me, ‘Go up against this land and destroy it.’”

೨೫ಈ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಚಿತ್ತವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಂದೆನೆಂದು ನೆನಸುತ್ತೀಯೋ? ‘ಈ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು, ಇದನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿಬಿಡು ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ನನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ’” ಎಂದನು.

26 Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah, along with Shebnah and Joah, said to the Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it. Do not speak with us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”

೨೬ಆಗ ಹಿಲ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಲ್ಯಾಕೀಮ್, ಶೆಬ್ನ, ಯೋವ ಎಂಬುವವರು ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದು ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ನಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ಅರಾಮ್ಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡು, ಅದು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಯೂದಾಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಬೇಡ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

27 But the Rabshakeh replied, “Has my master sent me to speak these words only to you and your master, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are destined with you to eat their own dung and drink their own urine?”

೨೭ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯು, “ನನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡವಾಗಲಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸಂಗಡವಾಗಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಸ್ವಂತ ಮಲವನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ಸ್ವಂತ ಮೂತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

28 Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out loudly in Hebrew: “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria!

೨೮ನಂತರ, ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯು ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತು ಯೂದಾಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, “ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಮಹಾರಾಜನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ.

29 This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you; he cannot deliver you from my hand.

೨೯ಅರಸನು ನಿಮಗೆ, ‘ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನಿಂದ ಮೋಸಹೋಗಬೇಡಿರಿ, ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಲಾರನು’

30 Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’

೩೦ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ನಿಮಗೆ, ‘ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಭರವಸದಿಂದಿರಿ; ಆತನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೇಗೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವನು. ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ವಶವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ಅವನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡಬೇಡಿರಿ, ಒಪ್ಪಬೇಡಿರಿ”

31 Do not listen to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and his own fig tree, and drink water from his own cistern,

೩೧ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ, “ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಆಶ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬನ್ನಿ ಆಗ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ತನ್ನ ತನ್ನ ಅಂಜೂರ ಮರ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾಲತೆ ಇವುಗಳ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ತನ್ನ ತನ್ನ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವನು.

32 until I come and take you away to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and honey—so that you may live and not die. But do not listen to Hezekiah, for he misleads you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’

೩೨ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಾಲವಾದ ನಂತರ ನಾನು ಬಂದು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಧಾನ್ಯ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸ ಆಹಾರ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟ, ಎಣ್ಣೆಮರ, ಜೇನುತುಪ್ಪವು ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನವಾದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವೆನು. ನೀವು ಸಾಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಬದುಕುವಿರಿ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವನು ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುವ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡಬೇಡಿರಿ.

33 Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?

೩೩ಯಾವ ಜನಾಂಗದ ದೇವತೆಯು ತನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕದಂತೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕಾಪಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ?

34 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand?

೩೪ಹಮಾತ್, ಅರ್ಪಾದ್, ಸೆಫರ್ವಯಿಮ್, ಹೇನ ಮತ್ತು ಇವ್ವಾ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ದೇವತೆಗಳೇನಾದವು? ಅವು ಸಮಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕದಂತೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತೇ?

35 Who among all the gods of these lands has delivered his land from my hand? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”

೩೫ಯಾವ ಜನಾಂಗದ ದೇವತೆಯಾದರೂ ತನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕದಂತೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕಾಪಾಡಲು ಆಗದೆ ಹೋದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕದಂತೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕಾಪಾಡುವನೋ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

36 But the people remained silent and did not answer a word, for Hezekiah had commanded, “Do not answer him.”

೩೬ಆ ಸೇನಾಪತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡಬಾರದೆಂದು ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿದ್ದರು. ಏನೂ ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.

37 Then Hilkiah’s son Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the scribe, and Asaph’s son Joah the recorder came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and they relayed to him the words of the Rabshakeh.

೩೭ಹಿಲ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಗನೂ, ರಾಜಗೃಹಾಧಿಪತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಯಾಕೀಮ್ ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶೆಬ್ನ, ಆಸಾಫನ ಮಗನೂ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಯೋವ ಎಂಬುವವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
