< 2 Kings 17 >
1 In the twelfth year of the reign of Ahaz over Judah, Hoshea son of Elah became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria nine years.
Ní ọdún kejìlá ọba Ahasi ará Juda, Hosea ọmọ Ela jẹ ọba Israẹli ní Samaria, ó sì jẹ fún ọdún mẹ́sàn-án.
2 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not like the kings of Israel who preceded him.
Ó sì ṣe búburú ní ojú Olúwa, ṣùgbọ́n kì í ṣe bí i ti ọba Israẹli ẹni tí ó ti wà ṣáájú rẹ̀.
3 Shalmaneser king of Assyria attacked him, and Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute.
Ṣalamaneseri ọba Asiria wá sókè láti mú Hosea, ẹni tí ó ti jẹ fún Ṣalamaneseri ó sì ti san owó òde fún un.
4 But the king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea had conspired to send envoys to King So of Egypt, and that he had not paid tribute to the king of Assyria as in previous years. Therefore the king of Assyria arrested Hoshea and put him in prison.
Ṣùgbọ́n ọba Asiria rí i wí pé Hosea jẹ́ ọlọ́tẹ̀, nítorí ó ti rán oníṣẹ́ sọ́dọ̀ ọba Ejibiti, kò sì san owó òde mọ́ fún ọba Asiria, gẹ́gẹ́ bí o ti máa ń ṣe ní ọdọọdún. Nígbà náà ọba Asiria fi agbára mú ún, ó sì fi sínú túbú.
5 Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land, marched up to Samaria, and besieged it for three years.
Ọba Asiria gòkè wá sí gbogbo ibi ilé náà, ó sì lọ sí Samaria, ó sì dúró tí ì fún ọdún mẹ́ta.
6 In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and carried away the Israelites to Assyria, where he settled them in Halah, in Gozan by the Habor River, and in the cities of the Medes.
Ní ọdún kẹsànán ti Hosea, ọba Asiria mú Samaria ó sì kó Israẹli lọ sí Asiria. Ó sì fi wọ́n sílẹ̀ ní Hala, ní Gosani ní etí odò Habori àti ní ìlú àwọn ará Media.
7 All this happened because the people of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They had worshiped other gods
Gbogbo eléyìí ṣẹlẹ̀ nítorí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn, ẹni tí ó mú wọn jáde ní Ejibiti lábẹ́ agbára Farao ọba Ejibiti. Wọ́n sin ọlọ́run mìíràn,
8 and walked in the customs of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites, as well as in the practices introduced by the kings of Israel.
wọn si tẹ̀lé ìwà orílẹ̀-èdè tí Olúwa ti gbá kúrò níwájú wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìwà ti ọba Israẹli tí ó ti paláṣẹ.
9 The Israelites secretly did things against the LORD their God that were not right. From watchtower to fortified city, they built high places in all their cities.
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ṣe ohun ìríra sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn kọ́ láti ilé ìṣọ́ sí ìlú tí a dáàbò bò, wọ́n kọ́ ilé gíga fún ara wọn ní gbogbo ìlú wọn.
10 They set up for themselves sacred pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.
Wọ́n sì gbé àwọn òkúta tí a yà sọ́tọ̀ sókè àti ère òrìṣà Aṣerah lórí gbogbo igi tútù.
11 They burned incense on all the high places like the nations that the LORD had driven out before them. They did wicked things, provoking the LORD to anger.
Ní gbogbo ibi gíga, wọ́n sun tùràrí gẹ́gẹ́ bí orílẹ̀-èdè tí Olúwa ti lé jáde níwájú wọn. Wọ́n ṣe ohun búburú tí ó rú ìbínú Olúwa sókè.
12 They served idols, although the LORD had told them, “You shall not do this thing.”
Wọ́n sìn òrìṣà, èyí tí Olúwa ti sọ pé, “Ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ ṣe èyí.”
13 Yet through all His prophets and seers, the LORD warned Israel and Judah, saying, “Turn from your wicked ways and keep My commandments and statutes, according to the entire Law that I commanded your fathers and delivered to you through My servants the prophets.”
Olúwa kìlọ̀ fún Israẹli àti Juda nípa gbogbo àwọn wòlíì wọn àti aríran: “Ẹ yípadà kúrò ní ọ̀nà búburú yín. Kí ẹ ṣe òfin mi àti ìlànà mi, ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú gbogbo òfin tí Èmi paláṣẹ fún àwọn baba yín láti tẹ̀lé àti èyí tí mo rán sí i yín nípa ìránṣẹ́ àwọn wòlíì mi.”
14 But they would not listen, and they stiffened their necks like their fathers, who did not believe the LORD their God.
Ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò ní gbọ́, wọ́n sì ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọlọ́rùn líle gẹ́gẹ́ bí i ti baba wọn, ẹni tí kò gbà Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn gbọ́.
15 They rejected His statutes and the covenant He had made with their fathers, as well as the decrees He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and themselves became worthless, going after the surrounding nations that the LORD had commanded them not to imitate.
Wọ́n kọ̀ ìlànà rẹ̀ àti májẹ̀mú tí ó ti ṣe pẹ̀lú baba wọn àti ìkìlọ̀ tí ó ti fi fún wọn. Wọ́n tẹ̀lé òrìṣà aláìníláárí, àwọn fún rara wọn sì jẹ́ aláìníláárí. Wọ́n tẹ̀lé orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó yí wọn ká bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé Olúwa ti kìlọ̀ fún wọn pé, “Má ṣe ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọn tí ń ṣe,” wọ́n sì ṣe ohun tí Olúwa ti kà léèwọ̀ fún wọn láti ṣe.
16 They abandoned all the commandments of the LORD their God and made for themselves two cast idols of calves and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the host of heaven and served Baal.
Wọ́n kọ̀ gbogbo òfin Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì ṣe òrìṣà méjì fún ara wọn, wọ́n sì gbẹ́ ẹ ọ̀kan ní ère ẹgbọrọ màlúù, àti ọ̀kan ní ère òrìṣà Aṣerah. Wọ́n sì tẹrí wọn ba sí gbogbo ogun ọ̀run, wọ́n sì sin Baali.
17 They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire and practiced divination and soothsaying. They devoted themselves to doing evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.
Wọ́n sì fi àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti àwọn ọmọbìnrin wọn rú ẹbọ nínú iná. Wọ́n sì ń fọ àfọ̀ṣẹ, wọ́n sì ń ṣe àlúpàyídà wọ́n sì ta ara wọn láti ṣe ohun búburú níwájú Olúwa, wọ́n sì mú un bínú.
18 So the LORD was very angry with Israel, and He removed them from His presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained,
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa sì bínú gidigidi pẹ̀lú Israẹli ó sì mú wọn kúrò níwájú rẹ̀. Ẹ̀yà Juda nìkan ṣoṣo ni ó kù,
19 and even Judah did not keep the commandments of the LORD their God, but lived according to the customs Israel had introduced.
àti pẹ̀lú, Juda kò pa òfin Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn mọ́. Wọ́n tẹ̀lé ìhùwàsí àwọn Israẹli tí wọ́n ṣe.
20 So the LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel. He afflicted them and delivered them into the hands of plunderers, until He had banished them from His presence.
Nítorí náà Olúwa kọ gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli; ó sì jẹ wọ́n ní yà. Ó sì fi wọ́n lé ọwọ́ àwọn olè títí tí ó fi ta wọ́n nù kúrò níwájú rẹ̀.
21 When the LORD had torn Israel away from the house of David, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam led Israel away from following the LORD and caused them to commit a great sin.
Nígbà tí ó ta Israẹli kúrò láti ìdílé Dafidi, wọ́n sì mú Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati jẹ ọba wọn. Jeroboamu sì mú kí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli yípadà kúrò ní títẹ̀lé Olúwa, ó sí mú kí wọn dẹ́ṣẹ̀ ńlá.
22 The Israelites persisted in all the sins that Jeroboam had committed and did not turn away from them.
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli forítì í nínú gbogbo ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ Jeroboamu kò sì yí padà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wọn,
23 Finally, the LORD removed Israel from His presence, as He had declared through all His servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their homeland into Assyria, where they are to this day.
títí tí Olúwa fi mú wọn kúrò níwájú rẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti paláṣẹ láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ìránṣẹ́ wòlíì. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni a kó gbogbo ènìyàn Israẹli kúrò ní ilẹ̀ wọn lọ sí ìgbèkùn ni Asiria, títí di òní yìí.
24 Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and settled them in the towns of Samaria to replace the Israelites. They took possession of Samaria and lived in its towns.
Ọba Asiria mú àwọn ènìyàn láti Babeli, Kuta, Afa, Hamati àti Sefarfaimi, wọ́n sì fi wọ́n sínú ìlú Samaria láti rọ́pò àwọn ọmọ Israẹli. Wọ́n sì ń gbé ní ìlú náà.
25 Now when the settlers first lived there, they did not worship the LORD, so He sent lions among them, which killed some of them.
Nígbà tí wọ́n gbé bẹ̀ ní àkọ́kọ́, wọn kò sì bẹ̀rù Olúwa, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó rán kìnnìún sí àárín wọn. Wọ́n sì pa nínú wọn.
26 So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The peoples that you have removed and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the requirements of the God of the land. Because of this, He has sent lions among them, which are indeed killing them off.”
Wọ́n sì sọ fún ọba Asiria pé, “Àwọn ènìyàn tí ìwọ lé kúrò tí o sì fi sínú ìlú Samaria kò mọ ohun tí ọlọ́run ìlú náà béèrè. Ó sì ti rán kìnnìún sí àárín wọn, tí ó sì ń pa wọ́n run, nítorí ènìyàn wọn kò mọ ohun tí ó béèrè.”
27 Then the king of Assyria commanded: “Send back one of the priests you carried off from Samaria, and have him go back to live there and teach the requirements of the God of the land.”
Nígbà náà ọba Asiria pàṣẹ yìí wí pé, “Mú ọ̀kan lára àwọn àlùfáà tí ó mú láti Samaria lọ padà gbé níbẹ̀ kí ó sì kọ́ àwọn ènìyàn ní, ohun tí ọlọ́run ilẹ̀ náà béèrè.”
28 Thus one of the priests they had carried away came and lived in Bethel, and he began to teach them how they should worship the LORD.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọ̀kan lára àwọn àlùfáà tí ó ti kúrò ní Samaria wá gbé ní Beteli ó sì kọ́ wọn bí a ti ń sin Olúwa.
29 Nevertheless, the people of each nation continued to make their own gods in the cities where they had settled, and they set them up in the shrines that the people of Samaria had made on the high places.
Bí ó tilẹ̀ rí bẹ́ẹ̀, olúkúlùkù orílẹ̀-èdè ṣe òrìṣà tirẹ̀ ní gbogbo ìlú níbi tí wọ́n gbé wà, wọ́n sì gbé wọn nínú ilé òrìṣà àti àwọn ènìyàn Samaria ó sì ṣe wọ́n sí ibi gíga wọ̀n-ọn-nì.
30 The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima,
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ọkùnrin láti Babeli ṣe àgọ́ àwọn wúńdíá, àwọn ènìyàn Kuti ṣe òrìṣà Nergali, àti àwọn ènìyàn Hamati ṣe ti Aṣima;
31 the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of the Sepharvaim.
àti àwọn ará Afa ṣe Nibhasi àti Tartaki, àti àwọn ará Sefarfaimi sun àwọn ọmọ wọn níná gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹbọ sí Adrameleki àti Anameleki, àwọn òrìṣà Sefarfaimi.
32 So the new residents worshiped the LORD, but they also appointed for themselves priests of all sorts to serve in the shrines of the high places.
Wọ́n sin Olúwa, ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n sì tún yan gbogbo ẹgbẹ́ tí ènìyàn wọn láti ṣe iṣẹ́ oyè fún wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí àlùfáà ní ibi gíga.
33 They worshiped the LORD, but they also served their own gods according to the customs of the nations from which they had been carried away.
Wọ́n sin Olúwa ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n sin òrìṣà wọn ní ìṣọ̀kan pẹ̀lú àṣà orílẹ̀-èdè wọn láti ibi tí wọ́n ti gbé wọn wá.
34 To this day they are still practicing their former customs. None of them worship the LORD or observe the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments that the LORD gave the descendants of Jacob, whom He named Israel.
Láti ìgbà náà wá àwọn àlùfáà wọn ṣe bí ti àtẹ̀yìnwá. Wọn kò sin Olúwa tàbí kí wọ́n fi ara mọ́ ìlànà àti àṣẹ àti òfin tí Olúwa fi fún ìránṣẹ́ Jakọbu, tí wọ́n pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Israẹli.
35 For the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites and commanded them, “Do not worship other gods or bow down to them; do not serve them or sacrifice to them.
Nígbà tí Olúwa ṣe májẹ̀mú pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ó pàṣẹ fún wọn pé, “Ẹ má ṣe sin òrìṣà mìíràn tàbí tẹríba fún wọn, sìn wọ́n tàbí kí ẹ rú ẹbọ sí wọn.
36 Instead, worship the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm. You are to bow down to Him and offer sacrifices to Him.
Ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa, ẹni tí ó mú yín gòkè jáde wá láti ilẹ̀ Ejibiti pẹ̀lú agbára ńlá àti nínà apá, òun ni ẹni náà tí ó yẹ kí ẹ sìn. Òun ni ẹni tí ó yẹ kí ẹ tẹríba fún àti sí òun ni kí ẹ rú ẹbọ fún.
37 And you must always be careful to observe the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments He wrote for you. Do not worship other gods.
Ó yẹ kí ẹ̀yin kí ó máa kíyèsi ara yín gidigidi láti pa ìlànà àti àṣẹ, àti òfin tí ó kọ fún un yín mọ́. Ẹ má ṣe sin ọlọ́run mìíràn.
38 Do not forget the covenant I have made with you. Do not worship other gods,
Ẹ má ṣe gbàgbé májẹ̀mú tí mo ti ṣe pẹ̀lú yín mọ́ àti kí ẹ má sin ọlọ́run mìíràn.
39 but worship the LORD your God, and He will deliver you from the hands of all your enemies.”
Kúkú sin Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ; Òun ni ẹni náà tí yóò gbà yín kúrò lọ́wọ́ gbogbo àwọn ọ̀tá a yín.”
40 But they would not listen, and they persisted in their former customs.
Wọn kò ní gbọ́, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, wọ́n sì ń ṣe iṣẹ́ wọ́n ti àtijọ́.
41 So these nations worshiped the LORD but also served their idols, and to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their fathers did.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ènìyàn wọn sin Olúwa, wọ́n sì ń sin òrìṣà wọn. Títí di ọjọ́ òní ọmọ wọn àti àwọn ọmọ ọmọ wọn sì ń ṣe bí àwọn baba wọn ti ń ṣe.
