< 2 Kings 17 >
1 In the twelfth year of the reign of Ahaz over Judah, Hoshea son of Elah became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria nine years.
Judah siangpahrang Ahaz saning hatlaihnetto haih naah, Elah capa Hoshea loe Samaria vangpui ah Israel siangpahrang ah oh, anih mah saning takawtto thung uk.
2 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not like the kings of Israel who preceded him.
Anih loe Angraeng mikhnukah kahoih ai hmuen to sak; hmaloe ih kaom Israel siangpahrangnawk baktiah hmuen to sah ai.
3 Shalmaneser king of Assyria attacked him, and Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute.
Assyria siangpahrang Shalmaneser mah, Hoshea to tuk moe, tamna ah suek pacoengah, tamut to paeksak.
4 But the king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea had conspired to send envoys to King So of Egypt, and that he had not paid tribute to the king of Assyria as in previous years. Therefore the king of Assyria arrested Hoshea and put him in prison.
Hoshea loe saning kruek paek han koi tamut to paek ai, anih mah Izip siangpahrang So khaeah laicaeh patoeh moe, misatuk han pacaeng ti, tiah Assyria siangpahrang mah panoek naah, anih to naeh moe, thongim thungah pakhrak.
5 Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land, marched up to Samaria, and besieged it for three years.
Assyria siangpahrang loe prae boih tuk hanah angzoh tahang; Samaria vangpui ah caeh moe, vangpui to saning thumto thung takui.
6 In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and carried away the Israelites to Assyria, where he settled them in Halah, in Gozan by the Habor River, and in the cities of the Medes.
Hoshea siangpahrang ah ohhaih saning takawtto naah, Assyria siangpahrang mah Samaria to lak moe, Israel kaminawk to Assyria ah caeh haih; nihcae to Gozan vapui taeng, Medes kaminawk ih vangpui Halah hoi Habor ah ohsak.
7 All this happened because the people of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They had worshiped other gods
Israel kaminawk loe Izip prae hoi Izip siangpahrang Faro ban thung hoiah zaehoikung, angmacae Angraeng Sithaw hmaa ah zaehaih to sak o moe, kalah sithawnawk to bok o taak,
8 and walked in the customs of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites, as well as in the practices introduced by the kings of Israel.
Israel caanawk hoi angmacae mah suek o ih, Israel siangpahrangnawk hmaa ah, Angraeng mah haek ih sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah sak o ih atawk to pazui o.
9 The Israelites secretly did things against the LORD their God that were not right. From watchtower to fortified city, they built high places in all their cities.
Israel kaminawk loe angmacae Angraeng Sithaw mah koeh ai ih hmuen to tamquta hoiah sak o; misatoephaih imsang hoi vangpui sipaenawk to a sak o moe, avangnawk boih ah hmuensang to a sak o.
10 They set up for themselves sacred pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.
Krang hoi Asherah krang soi ih thingnawk to maesom nui hoi thingkung tlim boi ah a suek o.
11 They burned incense on all the high places like the nations that the LORD had driven out before them. They did wicked things, provoking the LORD to anger.
Nihcae hmaa ah Angraeng Sithaw mah haek ih, Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah sak ih hmuen baktih toengah, hmuensang boih ah hmuihoih to thlaek o moe, Angraeng palungphuisak hanah, kahoih ai hmuen to a sak o.
12 They served idols, although the LORD had told them, “You shall not do this thing.”
Angraeng mah, Hae hmuennawk hae sah o hmah, tiah thuih pae; toe krang to a bok o toengtoeng vop.
13 Yet through all His prophets and seers, the LORD warned Israel and Judah, saying, “Turn from your wicked ways and keep My commandments and statutes, according to the entire Law that I commanded your fathers and delivered to you through My servants the prophets.”
Angraeng Sithaw mah, Kahoih ai loklam to caeh o taak ah loe, nam panawk khaeah ka thuih ih dannawk boih, tahmanawk rang hoiah thuih ih ka lokpaekhaih hoi ka thuitaekhaih loknawk to pazui oh, tiah ka tamna tahmanawk patohhaih rang hoiah Israel hoi Judah kaminawk khaeah ka thuih.
14 But they would not listen, and they stiffened their necks like their fathers, who did not believe the LORD their God.
Toe nihcae mah tahngai o ai; angmacae Angraeng Sithaw katang ai, ampanawk baktiah palungthin amtak o sak.
15 They rejected His statutes and the covenant He had made with their fathers, as well as the decrees He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and themselves became worthless, going after the surrounding nations that the LORD had commanded them not to imitate.
Ampanawk khaeah sak ih lokmaihaih hoi patuk ih lok to nihcae mah pahnawt o, Anih mah thuih pae ih a thuitaekhaih loknawk doeh nihcae mah tahngai pae o ai; nihcae loe avang ai krangnawk hnuk ah bang o pongah, tidoeh avang ai ah oh o; Angraeng mah nihcae taeng kaom Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah sak ih hmuen baktiah sah o hmah, tiah a naa; toe nihcae hnukah patom o.
16 They abandoned all the commandments of the LORD their God and made for themselves two cast idols of calves and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the host of heaven and served Baal.
Angmacae Angraeng Sithaw mah paek ih loknawk to pahnawt o, angmacae hanah maitaw caa krang hnetto a sak o moe, Asherah thing maeto a tling o; cakaehnawk boih to bok o moe, Baal ih tok to sak pae o.
17 They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire and practiced divination and soothsaying. They devoted themselves to doing evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.
A canu hoi a capanawk to hmai angbawnhaih sak hanah patoh o moe, taqawk thacakhaih hoi angzo han koi hmuen taphonghaih, adoi hoi sak ih hmuennawk to patoh o, Angraeng palungphuisak hanah, Angraeng mikhnukah angmacae hoi angmacae to kahoih ai hmuen sak hanah ang zawh o.
18 So the LORD was very angry with Israel, and He removed them from His presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained,
To pongah Angraeng loe Israel nuiah paroeai palungphui moe, nihcae to angmah hmaa hoiah takhoe king; Judah acaeng khue to a suek.
19 and even Judah did not keep the commandments of the LORD their God, but lived according to the customs Israel had introduced.
Judah kaminawk loe angmacae Angraeng Sithaw mah paek ih lok to pazui o ai; Israel kaminawk caehhaih loklam to pazui o lat.
20 So the LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel. He afflicted them and delivered them into the hands of plunderers, until He had banished them from His presence.
To pongah Angraeng mah Israel kaminawk boih to pahnawt moe, nihcae to patangkhangsak; a hmaa hoiah takhoe boih ai karoek to, nihcae to parokungnawk ban ah a paek.
21 When the LORD had torn Israel away from the house of David, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam led Israel away from following the LORD and caused them to commit a great sin.
Angraeng mah Israel kaminawk to David imthung takoh thung hoiah tapraek pongah, nihcae mah Nebat capa Jeroboam to siangpahrang ah suek o; Jeroboam mah Angraeng hnukah kabang Israel kaminawk to loklam amkhraengsak, anih mah to baktih kalen parai zaehaih to saksak.
22 The Israelites persisted in all the sins that Jeroboam had committed and did not turn away from them.
Israel kaminawk loe Jeroboam mah sak ih zaehaih to caeh o taak ai, pazui o toengtoeng vop.
23 Finally, the LORD removed Israel from His presence, as He had declared through all His servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their homeland into Assyria, where they are to this day.
Angraeng mah a tamna tahmaanawk patohhaih rang hoiah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Israel kaminawk to angmah hmaa hoiah takhoe boih ai karoek to, to zaehaih to nihcae mah sak o. To pongah Israel kaminawk loe angmacae prae thung hoiah Assyria prae ah misong ah caeh o haih, vaihni ni khoek to to ah oh o.
24 Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and settled them in the towns of Samaria to replace the Israelites. They took possession of Samaria and lived in its towns.
Assyria siangpahrang mah Babylon, Kuthah, Ava, Hammath hoi Sepharviam prae ih kaminawk to hoih moe, Israel kaminawk zuengah, Samaria vangpui ah khosaksak. Nihcae mah Samaria to lak o moe, to vangpuinawk boih khosak o.
25 Now when the settlers first lived there, they did not worship the LORD, so He sent lions among them, which killed some of them.
To ah khosak o tangsuek naah, Angraeng to zii o ai; to pongah Angraeng mah kaipuinawk to patoeh moe, thoemto kaminawk to kaek.
26 So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The peoples that you have removed and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the requirements of the God of the land. Because of this, He has sent lions among them, which are indeed killing them off.”
To pongah thoemto kaminawk mah, Na patoeh moe, Samaria vangpui ah na ohsak ih kaminawk loe prae thungah kaom Sithaw to panoek o ai pongah, khenah, Sithaw mah kaipuinawk to patoeh moe, vangpui thungah kaom kaminawk to kaek boeh, tiah Assyrian siangpahrang khaeah thuih pae o.
27 Then the king of Assyria commanded: “Send back one of the priests you carried off from Samaria, and have him go back to live there and teach the requirements of the God of the land.”
To pacoengah Assyria siangpahrang mah, Samaria hoiah na hoih o ih qaima maeto vangpui ah oh hanah, patoeh o let ah, anih mah to prae thungah kaom Sithaw koehhaih to patuk nasoe, tiah a naa.
28 Thus one of the priests they had carried away came and lived in Bethel, and he began to teach them how they should worship the LORD.
To pacoengah Samaria vangpui hoiah hoih o ving ih, qaima maeto loe Bethel ah oh hanah caeh, anih mah Angraeng zit han angaih kawng to patuk.
29 Nevertheless, the people of each nation continued to make their own gods in the cities where they had settled, and they set them up in the shrines that the people of Samaria had made on the high places.
Toe to ah kaom acaeng kaminawk boih loe, angmacae ohhaih ahmuen kruekah angmacae ih sithawnawk to sak o; Samaria kaminawk mah sak o ih sithawnawk to hmuensang kruekah a suek o.
30 The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima,
Babylon ih kaminawk mah Sukkoth-Benoth to sak o; Kuthah ih kaminawk mah Nergal to sak o; Hummath ih kaminawk mah Ashima to sak o;
31 the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of the Sepharvaim.
Ava ih kaminawk mah Nibhaz hoi Tartak to sak o; Sepharvaim ih kaminawk mah loe Sepharvaim sithaw ah kaom, Adrammelek hoi Anamelek khaeah hmai angbawnhaih sak hanah a caanawk to patoh o.
32 So the new residents worshiped the LORD, but they also appointed for themselves priests of all sorts to serve in the shrines of the high places.
Nihcae mah Angraeng to zit o; toe angmacae ih kaminawk boih to angmacae bokhaih hmuensang ih qaima ah suek o.
33 They worshiped the LORD, but they also served their own gods according to the customs of the nations from which they had been carried away.
Nihcae mah Angraeng to zit o; toe misong ah hoih ih kaminawk mah sak ih baktih toengah, angmacae sithawnawk ih tok to a sak o.
34 To this day they are still practicing their former customs. None of them worship the LORD or observe the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments that the LORD gave the descendants of Jacob, whom He named Israel.
Vaihni ni khoek to canghnii ah a sak o ih hmuen to sak o vop; Angraeng to zii o ai; Israel kaminawk han paek ih loknawk, sakzong ih atawknawk doeh pazui o ai; Israel, tiah ahmin paek ih Jakob caanawk khaeah, Angraeng mah paek ih loknawk doeh pazui o ai.
35 For the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites and commanded them, “Do not worship other gods or bow down to them; do not serve them or sacrifice to them.
Angraeng mah Israel kaminawk hoi lokmaihaih sak naah, nihcae khaeah, Kalah sithawnawk to bok o hmah; a hmaa ah akuep o hmah; nihcae ih tok to sah pae o hmah; angbawnhaih doeh sah o hmah;
36 Instead, worship the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm. You are to bow down to Him and offer sacrifices to Him.
toe thacakhaih ban hoi Izip prae thung hoiah nangcae zaehoikung to bok oh; anih khaeah akuep oh loe, anih khaeah angbawnhaih to sah oh, tiah a naa.
37 And you must always be careful to observe the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments He wrote for you. Do not worship other gods.
Nangcae han ka tarik ih, lokpaekhaih hoi sak koi daannawk, zaehhoihhaih daannawk hoi lokpaekhaihnawk to acoehaih hoi sah oh; kalah sithawnawk to bok o hmah.
38 Do not forget the covenant I have made with you. Do not worship other gods,
Kai hoiah sak ih lokmaihaih to pahnet o hmah loe, kalah sithawnawk to bok o hmah.
39 but worship the LORD your God, and He will deliver you from the hands of all your enemies.”
Na Angraeng Sithaw khue to bok oh; to tiah ni anih mah na misa ban thung hoiah nangcae to pahlong tih, tiah lokpaekhaih to oh.
40 But they would not listen, and they persisted in their former customs.
Toe nihcae mah tahngai pae o ai moe, canghnii ah a sak o ih hmuen to pazui o toengtoeng vop.
41 So these nations worshiped the LORD but also served their idols, and to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their fathers did.
Hae kaminawk loe angmacae hoi a caanawk ih caa patoeng khoek to, Angraeng to bok o, toe krangnawk doeh bok o toengtoeng vop; ampanawk mah sak o ih hmuen baktih toengah vaihni ni khoek to a sak o vop.
