2 Kings 14
1 In the second year of the reign of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz over Israel, Amaziah son of Joash became king of Judah.
En el segundo año de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá.
2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan; she was from Jerusalem.
Tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veintinueve años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Joaquín de Jerusalén.
3 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not as his father David had done. He did everything as his father Joash had done.
Hizo lo que era justo a los ojos de Yahvé, pero no como David, su padre. Hizo conforme a todo lo que había hecho su padre Joás.
4 Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away, and the people continued sacrificing and burning incense on the high places.
Sin embargo, los lugares altos no fueron quitados. El pueblo seguía sacrificando y quemando incienso en los lugares altos.
5 As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, Amaziah executed the servants who had murdered his father the king.
Tan pronto como el reino fue establecido en su mano, mató a sus siervos que habían matado al rey su padre,
6 Yet he did not put the sons of the murderers to death, but acted according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.”
pero a los hijos de los asesinos no los mató, según lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, como lo ordenó Yahvé, diciendo: “Los padres no morirán por los hijos, ni los hijos morirán por los padres; sino que cada uno morirá por su propio pecado.”
7 Amaziah struck down 10,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. He took Sela in battle and called it Joktheel, which is its name to this very day.
Mató a diez mil edomitas en el Valle de la Sal, y tomó Sela por la guerra, y llamó su nombre Joktheel, hasta el día de hoy.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to the king of Israel Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu. “Come, let us meet face to face,” he said.
Entonces Amasías envió mensajeros a Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciéndole: “Ven, mirémonos a la cara”.
9 But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: “A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son in marriage.’ Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle.
Joás, rey de Israel, envió a Amasías, rey de Judá, diciendo: “El cardo que estaba en el Líbano envió al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: ‘Dale tu hija a mi hijo como esposa’. Entonces pasó un animal salvaje que estaba en el Líbano y pisoteó el cardo.
10 You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has become proud. Glory in that and stay at home. Why should you stir up trouble so that you fall—you and Judah with you?”
Ciertamente has golpeado a Edom, y tu corazón te ha levantado. Disfruta de su gloria, y quédate en casa; pues, ¿por qué has de entrometerte para tu mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?”
11 But Amaziah would not listen, and Jehoash king of Israel advanced. He and King Amaziah of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh in Judah.
Pero Amasías no quiso escuchar. Entonces subió Joás, rey de Israel, y él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se miraron a la cara en Bet Semes, que es de Judá.
12 And Judah was routed before Israel, and every man fled to his home.
Judá fue derrotado por Israel, y cada uno huyó a su tienda.
13 There at Beth-shemesh, Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah. Then Jehoash went to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate—a section of four hundred cubits.
Joás, rey de Israel, apresó a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, en Bet Semes, y llegó a Jerusalén; luego derribó el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.
14 He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the royal palace, as well as some hostages. Then he returned to Samaria.
Tomó todo el oro y la plata y todos los utensilios que se encontraban en la casa de Yahvé y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, también los rehenes, y regresó a Samaria.
15 As for the rest of the acts of Jehoash, along with his accomplishments, his might, and how he waged war against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Los demás hechos de Joás, y su poderío, y cómo luchó con Amasías, rey de Judá, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
16 And Jehoash rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. And his son Jeroboam reigned in his place.
Joás durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y su hijo Jeroboam reinó en su lugar.
17 Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.
Amasías hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joás hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, quince años.
18 As for the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Los demás hechos de Amasías, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
19 And conspirators plotted against Amaziah in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But men were sent after him to Lachish, and they killed him there.
Hicieron una conspiración contra él en Jerusalén, y él huyó a Laquis; pero enviaron tras él a Laquis y lo mataron allí.
20 They carried him back on horses and buried him in Jerusalem with his fathers in the City of David.

21 Then all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.

22 Azariah was the one who rebuilt Elath and restored it to Judah after King Amaziah rested with his fathers.

23 In the fifteenth year of the reign of Amaziah son of Joash over Judah, Jeroboam son of Jehoash became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria forty-one years.
En el año quince de Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, Jeroboam, hijo de Joás, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar en Samaria durante cuarenta y un años.
24 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and did not turn away from all the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit.
Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé. No se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, con los que hizo pecar a Israel.
25 This Jeroboam restored the boundary of Israel from Lebo-hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word that the LORD, the God of Israel, had spoken through His servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath-hepher.
Restauró la frontera de Israel desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el mar del Arabá, según la palabra de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, que habló por medio de su siervo Jonás, hijo de Amittai, el profeta, que era de Gat Hefer.
26 For the LORD saw that the affliction of the Israelites, both slave and free, was very bitter. There was no one to help Israel,
Porque Yahvé vio la aflicción de Israel, que era muy amarga para todos, esclavos y libres; y no había quien ayudara a Israel.
27 and since the LORD had said that He would not blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.
El Señor no dijo que borraría el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo, sino que lo salvó por la mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joás.
28 As for the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, along with all his accomplishments and might, and how he waged war and recovered both Damascus and Hamath for Israel from Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
El resto de los hechos de Jeroboam, y todo lo que hizo, y su poderío, cómo luchó y cómo recuperó para Israel Damasco y Hamat, que habían pertenecido a Judá, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
29 And Jeroboam rested with his fathers, the kings of Israel. And his son Zechariah reigned in his place.
Jeroboam durmió con sus padres, con los reyes de Israel, y su hijo Zacarías reinó en su lugar.
