2 Chronicles 36
1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and made him king in Jerusalem in place of his father.
La population du pays choisit Joachaz, fils de Josias, et on le proclama roi à Jérusalem à la place de son père.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months.
Joachaz avait vingt-trois ans en montant sur le trône, et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem.
3 And the king of Egypt dethroned him in Jerusalem and imposed on Judah a levy of a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
Le roi d’Egypte le destitua à Jérusalem, et il imposa au pays un tribut de cent kikkar d’argent et d’un kikkar d’or.
4 Then Neco king of Egypt made Eliakim brother of Jehoahaz king over Judah and Jerusalem, and he changed Eliakim’s name to Jehoiakim. But Neco took Eliakim’s brother Jehoahaz and carried him off to Egypt.
Puis le roi d’Egypte conféra la royauté sur Juda et Jérusalem à Elyakim, frère de Joachaz, et changea son nom en celui de Joïakim. Quant à Joachaz, son frère, Nekho l’emmena captif en Egypte.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
Joïakim avait vingt-cinq ans en montant sur le trône, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem. Il fit le mal aux yeux de l’Eternel, son Dieu.
6 Then Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jehoiakim and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.
Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, marcha contre lui, et le fit jeter dans les fers pour l’amener à Babylone.
7 Nebuchadnezzar also took to Babylon some of the articles from the house of the LORD, and he put them in his temple in Babylon.
En outre, Nabuchodonosor emporta à Babylone une partie des vases de la maison de l’Eternel et les déposa dans son sanctuaire à Babylone.
8 As for the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, the abominations he committed, and all that was found against him, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. And his son Jehoiachin reigned in his place.
Les autres faits et gestes de Joïakim, les abominations qu’il commit, tout ce qu’on peut relever contre lui, sont consignés dans le livre des Rois d’Israël et de Juda. Son fils Joïachin régna à sa place.
9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD.
Agé de huit ans à son avènement, Joïachin régna trois mois et dix jours à Jérusalem. Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Eternel.
10 In the spring, King Nebuchadnezzar summoned Jehoiachin and brought him to Babylon, along with the articles of value from the house of the LORD. And he made Jehoiachin’s relative Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.
Au renouvellement de l’année, le roi Nabuchodonosor donna ordre de l’amener à Babylone en même temps que les vases précieux du temple de l’Eternel, et il établit son frère Sédécias comme roi de Juda et de Jérusalem.
11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years.
Sédécias avait vingt et un an à son avènement, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem.
12 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke for the LORD.
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Eternel, son Dieu, ne s’humilia point devant le prophète Jérémie, qui était l’organe de l’Eternel.
13 He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. But Zedekiah stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the LORD, the God of Israel.
De plus, il se révolta contre Nabuchodonosor, qui lui avait fait prêter serment au nom de Dieu; il raidit son cou et endurcit son cœur, refusant de revenir à l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël.
14 Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people multiplied their unfaithful deeds, following all the abominations of the nations, and they defiled the house of the LORD, which He had consecrated in Jerusalem.
De même, tous les chefs des prêtres et le peuple multiplièrent leurs félonies, en se livrant à toutes les abominations des peuples païens, et souillèrent la maison de l’Eternel, sanctifiée par lui à Jérusalem.
15 Again and again the LORD, the God of their fathers, sent word to His people through His messengers because He had compassion on them and on His dwelling place.
L’Eternel, Dieu de leurs pères, les avertissait bien par ses messagers sans cesse et dès la première heure, car il voulait épargner son peuple et le lieu de sa résidence.
16 But they mocked the messengers of God, despising His words and scoffing at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD against His people was stirred up beyond remedy.
Mais ils raillaient les messagers de Dieu, dédaignaient ses paroles et tournaient en dérision ses prophètes, jusqu’à ce que le courroux du Seigneur s’accrut contre son peuple de façon irrémédiable.
17 So He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who put their young men to the sword in the sanctuary, sparing neither young men nor young women, neither elderly nor infirm. God gave them all into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar,
Il fit marcher contre eux le roi des Chaldéens, fit périr leurs jeunes gens par le glaive dans le sanctuaire, et n’épargna ni l’adolescent ni la vierge, ni le vieillard ni les cheveux blancs; tous, il les abandonna en son pouvoir.
18 who carried off everything to Babylon—all the articles of the house of God, both large and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king and his officials.
Celui-ci transporta à Babylone tous les ustensiles, grands et petits, de la maison de Dieu, les trésors de la maison du Seigneur, les trésors du roi et de ses seigneurs.
19 Then the Chaldeans set fire to the house of God and broke down the wall of Jerusalem. They burned down all the palaces and destroyed every article of value.
On brûla la maison de Dieu, on démolit le mur de Jérusalem, et on en livra aux flammes tous les palais; tous les objets de prix qu’elle renfermait furent la proie de la destruction.
20 Those who escaped the sword were carried by Nebuchadnezzar into exile in Babylon, and they became servants to him and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to power.
Le roi des Chaldéens déporta à Babylone tous ceux qui avaient échappé au glaive; ils lui demeurèrent asservis, à lui et à ses fils, jusqu’à l’avènement du roi de Perse,
21 So the land enjoyed its Sabbath rest all the days of the desolation, until seventy years were completed, in fulfillment of the word of the LORD through Jeremiah.
afin que s’accomplît la parole de l’Eternel, annoncée par Jérémie: "Jusqu’à ce que la terre eût acquitté la dette de son chômage, dans toute cette période de désolation, elle chôma, pour remplir la période de soixante-dix ans".
22 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD stirred the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to send a proclamation throughout his kingdom and to put it in writing as follows:
Dans la première année de Cyrus, roi de Perse, à l’époque où devait s’accomplir la parole de l’Eternel, annoncée par Jérémie, l’Eternel éveilla le bon vouloir de Cyrus, roi de Perse; et celui-ci fit proclamer, dans tout son royaume, par la voix des hérauts et aussi par des missives écrites, ce qui suit.
23 “This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, who has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, has appointed me to build a house for Him at Jerusalem in Judah. Whoever among you belongs to His people, may the LORD his God be with him, and may he go up.’”
"Ainsi parle Cyrus, roi de Perse: L’Eternel, Dieu du ciel, m’a mis entre les mains tous les royaumes de la terre, et c’est lui qui m’a donné mission de lui bâtir un temple à Jérusalem, qui est en Judée. S’Il est parmi vous quelqu’un qui appartienne à son peuple, que l’Eternel, son Dieu, soit avec lui, pour qu’il monte!…"
