2 Chronicles 33
1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years.
Manassé avait douze ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem.
2 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD by following the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, selon les abominations des nations que l'Éternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.
3 For he rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had torn down, and he raised up altars for the Baals and made Asherah poles. And he worshiped and served all the host of heaven.
Il rebâtit les hauts lieux qu'Ézéchias, son père, avait démolis; il éleva des autels aux Baals, fit des Asheroth, se prosterna devant toute l'armée du ciel et les servit.
4 Manasseh also built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “My Name will remain in Jerusalem forever.”
Il bâtit des autels dans la maison de Yahvé, dont Yahvé avait dit: « Mon nom sera à Jérusalem pour toujours. »
5 In both courtyards of the house of the LORD, he built altars to all the host of heaven.
Il bâtit des autels pour toute l'armée du ciel dans les deux parvis de la maison de l'Éternel.
6 He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Hinnom. He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.
Il fit aussi passer ses enfants par le feu dans la vallée du fils de Hinnom. Il pratiquait la magie, la divination et la sorcellerie, et s'adressait à ceux qui avaient des esprits familiers et à des magiciens. Il fit beaucoup de mal à Yahvé, pour l'irriter.
7 Manasseh even took the carved image he had made and set it up in the house of God, of which God had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name forever.
Il plaça l'image gravée de l'idole qu'il avait fabriquée dans la maison de Dieu, dont Dieu avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils: « Dans cette maison et à Jérusalem, que j'ai choisie parmi toutes les tribus d'Israël, je placerai mon nom pour toujours.
8 I will never again cause the feet of the Israelites to leave the land that I assigned to your fathers, if only they are careful to do all that I have commanded them through Moses—all the laws, statutes, and judgments.”
Je ne retirerai plus le pied d'Israël du pays que j'ai destiné à vos pères, pourvu seulement qu'ils observent et mettent en pratique tout ce que je leur ai prescrit, toute la loi, les statuts et les ordonnances donnés par Moïse. »
9 So Manasseh led the people of Judah and Jerusalem astray, so that they did greater evil than the nations that the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites.
Manassé séduisit Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, de sorte qu'ils firent plus de mal que les nations que Yahvé avait détruites devant les enfants d'Israël.
10 And the LORD spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they did not listen.
Yahvé parla à Manassé et à son peuple, mais ils n'écoutèrent pas.
11 So the LORD brought against them the military commanders of the king of Assyria, who captured Manasseh, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles, and took him to Babylon.
Yahvé fit venir sur eux les chefs de l'armée du roi d'Assyrie, qui enchaînèrent Manassé, le lièrent avec des chaînes et l'emmenèrent à Babylone.
12 And in his distress, Manasseh sought the favor of the LORD his God and earnestly humbled himself before the God of his fathers.
Lorsqu'il était dans la détresse, il implorait Yahvé, son Dieu, et s'humiliait grandement devant le Dieu de ses pères.
13 And when he prayed to Him, the LORD received his plea and heard his petition; so He brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.
Il le pria, et il fut acclamé par lui, il écouta sa supplication, et il le ramena à Jérusalem dans son royaume. Manassé sut alors que Yahvé était Dieu.
14 After this, Manasseh rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David from west of Gihon in the valley to the entrance of the Fish Gate, and he brought it around the hill of Ophel and heightened it considerably. He also stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities of Judah.
Après cela, il bâtit une muraille extérieure à la ville de David, à l'ouest du Gihon, dans la vallée, jusqu'à l'entrée de la porte des poissons. Il en entoura Ophel et l'éleva à une très grande hauteur, et il plaça de vaillants chefs dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda.
15 He removed the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, along with all the altars he had built on the temple mount and in Jerusalem, and he dumped them outside the city.
Il fit disparaître les dieux étrangers et l'idole de la maison de l'Éternel, ainsi que tous les autels qu'il avait bâtis sur la montagne de la maison de l'Éternel et à Jérusalem, et il les jeta hors de la ville.
16 Then he restored the altar of the LORD and sacrificed peace offerings and thank offerings on it, and he told Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.
Il rebâtit l'autel de l'Éternel et y offrit des sacrifices de paix et d'actions de grâces, et il ordonna à Juda de servir l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël.
17 Nevertheless, the people still sacrificed at the high places, but only to the LORD their God.
Le peuple sacrifiait encore sur les hauts lieux, mais seulement à Yahvé, son Dieu.
18 As for the rest of the acts of Manasseh, along with his prayer to his God and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, they are indeed written in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
Et le reste des actes de Manassé, et sa prière à son Dieu, et les paroles des voyants qui lui parlaient au nom de l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, voici, ils sont écrits parmi les actes des rois d'Israël.
19 His prayer and how God received his plea, as well as all his sin and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself, they are indeed written in the Records of the Seers.
Sa prière aussi, et comment Dieu a exaucé sa demande, et tout son péché et sa faute, et les lieux où il a bâti des hauts lieux et dressé les mâts d'ashère et les images gravées avant de s'humilier: voici, ils sont écrits dans l'histoire de Hozaï.
20 And Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried at his palace. And his son Amon reigned in his place.
Et Manassé se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans sa maison; et Amon, son fils, régna à sa place.
21 Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem two years.
Amon avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem.
22 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done. Amon served and sacrificed to all the idols that his father Manasseh had made,
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme avait fait Manassé, son père; Amon sacrifia à toutes les images gravées que Manassé, son père, avait faites, et il les servit.
23 but he did not humble himself before the LORD as his father Manasseh had done; instead, Amon increased his guilt.
Il ne s'humilia pas devant l'Éternel, comme s'était humilié Manassé, son père, mais ce même Amon se rendit de plus en plus coupable.
24 Then the servants of Amon conspired against him and killed him in his palace.
Ses serviteurs conspirèrent contre lui et le firent mourir dans sa propre maison.
25 But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and they made his son Josiah king in his place.
Mais le peuple du pays tua tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon, et le peuple du pays établit roi Josias, son fils, à sa place.
